QUOTE Taylor Swift Tops Pop Songs Chart With 'Look What You Made Me Do' GOOD10/16/2017 by Gary Trust The former Hot 100 No. 1 is Swift's eighth pop radio leader. Taylor Swift tallies her eighth No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart, as "Look What You Made Me Do" lifts 3-1 on the latest tally, dated Oct. 28. The Pop Songs chart, which began in 1992, measures total weekly plays, as tabulated by Nielsen Music, among its reporting panel of 164 mainstream top 40 stations. Before "Look," the lead single from Swift's new album Reputation, due Nov. 10, she last led Pop Songs with "Wildest Dreams," for two weeks in November 2015. The ballad became the fifth No. 1 from her last album, 1989, following "Bad Blood," featuring Kendrick Lamar (five); "Style" (three); "Blank Space" (six); and "Shake It Off" (two). She previously reigned with "I Knew You Were Trouble." (seven weeks, 2013) and "Love Story" (one, 2009). Swift is now one of seven acts with at least eight Pop Songs No. 1s, following Katy Perry and Rihanna, the leaders with 11 apiece, Maroon 5 and P!nk (nine each), and Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake (also eight each). Meanwhile, fellow Reputation track "…Ready for It?" bullets at its No. 19 high on Pop Songs. As for Swift ascending with two songs in the top 20, "Taylor is one of the artists that has earned that right and deserves to have more than one song in regular rotation, especially when both sound as big as these do," says Erik Bradley, WBBM-FM Chicago assistant program director/music director. "Taylor is a superstar artist who is able to create a huge buzz with her new releases," echoes WBLI Nassau, New York, PD Jeremy Rice. "Look at Ed Sheeran, who released 'Shape of You' and 'Castle on the Hill' on the same day; both songs went on to power rotation" (and made Sheeran the first artist to debut two titles in the Billboard Hot 100's top 10 simultaneously). Calling "Look" "the reaction record" and "Ready" "the safer, mass-appeal track," Rice says, "You need to have core artists with multiple hits. This is a good thing. The Beatles had five songs in the [Hot 100's] top five in 1964. Think how great that was." On the all-genre airplay, streaming and sales-based Hot 100, Swift's "Look" spent three weeks at No. 1. Check back later today for highlights of the new, Oct. 28-dated Hot 100's top 10. All charts will update tomorrow (Oct. 17) on Billboard.com. NOW START PUSHING READY FOR IT AND CALL IT A DAY |

I wouldn't say I'm bored of it but I did go off it, then re-grew again And I'm definitely at the point where i'm ready to move onto the next single.

I prefer this to Ready For It just, I think I moved on to Ready For It at the time as it was the shiny new release but eventually I went back to Look What You Made Me Do as it is the stronger song for me at the end of the day.

But that's what makes it even more hilarious! Giant pushes to the top are more common than you think on pop radio, but that combined with such a hard drop (there's a slight possibility it may even pass Slow Hands, which has already had massive drops) made the payola super obvious. A normal person would think it's because she's added to the Jingle Ball setlist.
I kinda feel bad. It's like watching a Big Brother player play too hard too fast. This era feels like it's imploding and the album hasn't been released yet. Now that I think of it... |

@ChartData: Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" drops 5-20 on Radio Songs, recording the biggest fall from the top 5 in the chart's history.

Will this be back in the official charts this week? CIWYW is only just staying inside the top 200 on iTunes and End Game has no streaming so I'd be shocked if this wasn't in her top 3 sellers this week!

I'm still fully in the what the hell were they thinking with this as the lead single camp.
It was only successful because it was the lead single by Taylor Swift. Sure, the campaign was messy as hell but this contributed. |
