Something's missing and I don't know why In a nail biting round, we lose the third single to be released from the album: Bad Girl. A song that deals with a complex state of mind, exploring themes of depression, loneliness, acting out against the end of a relationship and a complicated battle between remaining prim and proper and rebelling against the world. This confusion is reflected in her vocals which are whimsical and airy. A cinematic music video directed by David Fincher accompanied the song and it perfectly revealed the tragic nature of the song. A truly special song with a powerhouse of a message but alas not enough to send it into the top 3 of this survivor. 04. Bad Girl [4 votes | 44.44%] 05. Thief of Hearts [5 votes | 62.50%] 06. Words [5 votes | 100%] 07. Where Life Begins [5 votes | 55.56%] 08. Waiting [3 votes | 42.86%] 09. Fever [4 votes | 44.44%] 10. In This Life [3 votes | 42.86%] 11. Bye Bye Baby [4 votes | 50.00%] 12. Why's It So Hard [5 votes | 55.56%] 13. Secret Garden [4 votes | 50.00%] 14. Did You Do It? [7 votes | 43.75%] |

Rain used to be my favourite from the album but it's overtaken now by the other two songs remaining in this survivor. I'm voting it out this round, reluctantly.

Interesting chart fact .
Rain outsold all the other singles from the Erotica album, even though it was released as the 5th and last single. Quite a feat . |

Interesting chart fact . Rain outsold all the other singles from the Erotica album, even though it was released as the 5th and last single. Quite a feat . I think they should have had 'Rain' as third single tbh. 'Thief of Hearts' and 'Waiting' as singles would also have been great. |

^ I agree
I also think that Deeper and Deeper maybe should have been the first single. |

I disagree there. I can't see anything but the title track working as lead - it was too much of a statement piece and set up the concept of the era perfectly. 'Deeper and Deeper' as the more accessible second single worked; as the lead, it would have given the wrong impression of the era.

Yeah "bigger hit" aside, there is no other way to open this era than with the title track. It stamps the message HARD about what this era stands for.
