Team KDA & Diplo of course. tongue.gif

Also hope Lost Frequencies is top 40 next Friday. sad.gif

Posted by: Ryan. 15th October 2015, 11:17 PM

I'd like Ben and Kelly to do as well as possible and for KDA to not get #1!

Posted by: Adam's Cauldron 15th October 2015, 11:27 PM

Some good new entries this week! laugh.gif at Wildest Dreams in that list.
No idea if Ben/Kelly's song is decent yet, hopefully a YouTube vid containing a legitimate full unpitched song appears if none exist currently.
I really want Diplo and Sleepy Tom to do well as Be Right There is a banger music.gif
Reality also must slay. It is such a tune and a great follow up to AYWM wub.gif

Spadz out.

Little Mix to SMASH with http://dopefile.me/embed/dfplayer/player.php?id=nkjitzjy15y8 please! It's pretty much 'DNA' the sequel *.* (but 'DNA' >>) and is the next instant grat from their 'Get Weird' album <3

'Weird People' may also be getting released as an IG, but nothing official just yet!

EDIT: ACTUALLY 'Weird People' might be the IG and 'Lightning' might just be available as a "B-Side" to the 'Love Me Like You: The Collection' EP thing they've released!

Team KDA! One of the best Dance songs of the year! wub.gif

Posted by: Avicii's Stories 16th October 2015, 06:13 AM

KDA for #1 please would be far preferable to 1D (obvs i haven't heard their song yet but I'm 99.9% sure it won't be as good as Turn The Music Louder)

Posted by: Lee_J11 16th October 2015, 07:18 AM

Both 1D and TT songs have premiered...

Both decent songs but TT edges it for me I think happy.gif

Going to be a busy week this week!

Posted by: SLlewellyn 16th October 2015, 07:19 AM

That 1D track sounds VERY similar to Taylor Swift's "Style" and there's already rumours it's about Swift.

Posted by: TeamLaurenFroot 16th October 2015, 07:25 AM

A song titled perfect about Taylor Swift?

Hell no.

What an exciting day for new releases! We get new music from Take That, One Direction, BEN HAENOW!!!, Kiesza, Little Mix, an album from Demi and The Milk. Yaaaaay, there is so much!

Posted by: Aphrodite 16th October 2015, 08:41 AM

Really hope the new Take That track can at the least manage top 40.

Posted by: andibob 16th October 2015, 08:46 AM

How times have changed...

Anyway, it's all about the Little Mix album tracks!

Posted by: P@ul 16th October 2015, 09:01 AM

Ben Haenow up to #20 already! Going great so far.

Posted by: omrimayo 16th October 2015, 09:09 AM

1. Perfect - 1D.
47. Take that - hey Boy (The song is bad...)

Posted by: Hadji 16th October 2015, 09:15 AM

1D ahead of KDA is just wrong. They should have released next week instead as originally scheduled

Posted by: JosephStyles 16th October 2015, 09:32 AM

SLAY 1D cheer.gif And that's without some of the initial fanbase rush too because they'll have pre-ordered it!

Come on KDA and Flo! cheer.gif

Posted by: Mango 16th October 2015, 09:54 AM

I'm not really feeling the 1D song on first listen. Hopefully it's a grower not a shower laugh.gif

The Take That song doesn't sound like anything special either.

Surprisingly it's the Ben Haenow song that I'm liking the most out of the three!

Close to the next kworb update, I expect 1D will have a pretty huge lead (EDIT: Jamie Lawson down to 0.63)

Posted by: Tombo 16th October 2015, 09:57 AM

Ill give KDA another go but I wasn't keen on it based on my first 2 listens.

Posted by: Rob S 16th October 2015, 10:04 AM

Keep climbing Kamikaze wub.gif

Posted by: James1987 16th October 2015, 10:06 AM

1D at number one rolleyes.gif

Why KDA didn't just wait one more week I don't know......

Posted by: JosephStyles 16th October 2015, 10:12 AM

1D having a huge lead so soon biggrin.gif Excellent, hopefully their streaming is at least close to Drag Me Down's excellent start so they can secure the #1.

Posted by: Hadji 16th October 2015, 10:17 AM

If Fleur can't debut at #1, then I want KDA to do a Lost Frequencies

Posted by: #psychic7 16th October 2015, 10:22 AM

^ hard to see Fleur being a #1 contender just yet, KDA could possibly move up to the top but will have to improve on streaming considerably~

Posted by: Jason 16th October 2015, 10:46 AM

I knew 1D would be number one. It's much better than Drag Me Down & Infinity imo.

Perfect = Style. I can sing "you got that James..." along! But Style is like Taylor's best so... I love this song. They are gonna be number 1 and they deserved it.

Glad I'm not the only one to think so! That said, I certainly don't think it's as good as 'Style'; it's alright on first listen but I don't feel like I'll end up liking it as much as 'Drag Me Down', although that itself took a long while to grow on me.

Posted by: ML Hammer95 16th October 2015, 11:11 AM

Am I right in saying the only OA/OS releases that got to #1 are One Direction and Justin Bieber? That's very indicative if true, but I bet I'm missing something.

KDA and Diplo are the ones I want to see do well this week. Great to see Shakka/JME on the rise too! Such a boss song.

My House is growing on me too. Sounds like a Macklemore song rather than a Flo Rida one, but it's good to see him move away from the tired dance-pop formula.

Posted by: JosephStyles 16th October 2015, 11:13 AM

That would be correct if we ignore the likes of X Factor winning singles I think heehee.gif Sam Smith's Lay Me Down featuring John Legend could also count I guess but I consider it a separate case.

plus LMFAO (2011), Pitbull (2011), Gotye (2012), PSY (2012), Daft Punk (2013) & Pharrell Williams (2014) from previous years... smile.gif

Posted by: Robot 16th October 2015, 11:41 AM

I only heard KDA for the first time a few days ago but it's SO GOOD. Such an earworm, really hope that can make #1 but I don't imagine its streaming will be up to much.

Posted by: gooddelta 16th October 2015, 11:41 AM

Don't they mean OA/OS releases that debuted at No.1?

'Twas me that said I expect a similar chart run to Up for Ben and Kelly, it was so obvious that it was going to be modelled on that song without even hearing it.

Posted by: JosephStyles 16th October 2015, 11:43 AM

Oh yeah there are numerous OA/OS releases that made #1 but I took it as meaning a debut at #1 heehee.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt 16th October 2015, 11:56 AM

Jessica J in 2011?

Posted by: torresgirl 16th October 2015, 11:59 AM

Ben Haenow and Kelly up to #11. Go get that Top 10 Ben!

Posted by: mr_pmt 16th October 2015, 12:06 PM

I was expecting a note for note copy of 'Style' based on what people were saying about 1D, and for it to at least have that "new wave" sound Style, Cheyenne and Your Type etc have, but there are only vague similarities at the most. I don't get it.

Okay, Aly's comments have given me more hope for the One Direction song now I know they haven't gone for the coma-inducing new wave sound.

They're not as similar as that, just when I heard it on the radio, I couldn't stop think of 'Style' because the melody matches pretty well.

Posted by: ML Hammer95 16th October 2015, 12:21 PM

With See You Again, I had heard it a bit before it was released and it was already massive in America. I was thinking of songs that were premiered/released on the same day and got to #1 straight away!

My point being, that almost every #1 this year has been a held-back release, even with the OA/OS push. This links back to the whole Peak vs. Sales debate and I still think labels find it easier to promote peaks over sales.

You could also look back to last year. How many 2014 #1s would have also been chart toppers in 2015 under the different release climates? I'd suggest less than half.

Posted by: Ethan 16th October 2015, 12:46 PM

oh, ok. just daft punk who shot to #1 on iTunes the day it premiered (although 'get lucky' was released on a friday so only entered at #3 officially).

with the speed at which download sales are collapsing, it won't be long before held-back releases consistently miss the top spot as streaming dominates~

QUOTE(ML Hammer95 @ Oct 16 2015, 01:21 PM) *
With See You Again, I had heard it a bit before it was released and it was already massive in America. I was thinking of songs that were premiered/released on the same day and got to #1 straight away!

My point being, that almost every #1 this year has been a held-back release, even with the OA/OS push. This links back to the whole Peak vs. Sales debate and I still think labels find it easier to promote peaks over sales.

You could also look back to last year. How many 2014 #1s would have also been chart toppers in 2015 under the different release climates? I'd suggest less than half.

But you could look at it in a different way to get the true picture and look at how many of the YTD top 20 were actually held back, not overly many, the biggest hits may not have hit the top spot all the time but the biggest sellers are a lot of the time songs that haven't been held back.(And yes I am aware there are many songs that are long runners and big sellers that were held back even months). So it's swings and roundabouts!

It's quite steady. I think it will definitely rise after the video premieres tomorrow and when he gets that XF performance.

The hype surrounding Adele's comeback is similar to when Laday Gaga was about to release "Born this way" the single. She was the biggest popstar of the planet at the time and everyone thought the song would be an obvious #1 but the combination of a badly timed release and negative reactions got it to... #3 only and it failed to emulate the success of previous efforts like "Pokerface" or "Bad romance" !

I am not saying Adele won't get to #1 but we shouldn't take anything for granted in the music industry.
I hope they'll learn from "Skyfall" anyway and will release it on the right day of the week.

Almost amusing as his follow-up charting at 37, and him throwing a hissy fit over OA/OS.

He hasn't charted since. laugh.gif

He renamed himself Chip (laugh.gif) and featured in a top 10 hit Reload in Wiley's song back in 2013.

Posted by: ML Hammer95 19th October 2015, 04:32 PM

Chip has gone underground, making grime songs again while getting into beef with Bugzy Malone and Tinie Tempah. I doubt he'll be troubling the charts in the near future.

Posted by: Doctor Blind 19th October 2015, 04:53 PM

Chip/ Chipmunk - whatever he's called. I just remember him blaming OA/OS for the flop of “In The Air” when really it was just a pretty dull follow-up.

He made a powerful enemy in me and steve201 when he derailed OA/OS in Spring 2011. mad.gif

Any song released through Ministry Of Sound is not included on Apple Music. It happened with Spotify for ages and then they must've come to some sort of deal.

92. Years & Years - Eyes Shut

It's eventually starting to make some progress, I really hope Radio 1 playlist it this week and Capital follow them, 'Eyes Shut' could be massive for them but it's limited progress has began stressing me out. They've got a Children In Need performance and I hope / doubt that they manage to get an X Factor performance because 'Eyes Shut' could be a massive top 5 hit with the right promotion.

13. MNEK & Zara Larsson - Never Forget You

I can't believe this is going to go top 10, it's doing very well on Spotify and is one of the examples of on air / on sale working for artists that are not massive. I don't think this would have done as well if it was held back and I'm hoping following the live lounge it could go top 10 on iTunes even if there is a decent sized gap!

Also Alan Carr next week.

Capital have limited space for ballads so won't playlist 'Eyes Shut' for now, but have been toying with the idea of playlisting the Sam Feldt remix instead.

I would have preferred a Graham Norton performance much more sad.gif I've never seen Alan Carr have a strong impact for a performance which is a great shame. I'm awaiting the day Channel 4 give up on Chatty Man and ITV give up on Jonathan Ross (His ratings are incredibly hideous for ITV).

Can they not playlist the Sam Feldt remix, the original is too beautiful to play a remix. I hope 'Eyes Shut' does well enough to persuade Capital to playlist it because ballads in winter season is majorly needed.

Ah, but you can: http://digitalsalesdata.com/diydsd.php?Region=143444

It's not the true sales, but near enough. I'd estimate the #1 is more like 6,500 sales/day so if you restructure the percentages based on that you'd get a fair idea.

I don't mind songs spending more than a week at the top as long as it's not because of streaming. I didn't mind "Happy" for four weeks and "Uptown Funk" staying at the top for seven weeks because at least they weren't kept for that long at the top due to streaming

I think it will. Hotline Bling has been in green and increasing non-stop since yesterday and now it's at 72.39%, this is all before the video becomes more widely available to watch as well.

The EP of Perfect is number 1 on ITunes... I wondering if they can sell 10K from it and be number 1 tomorrow...

Posted by: mr_pmt 22nd October 2015, 04:05 PM

Thank GOD that 'Hotling Bling' nonsense will be denied #1 now.

I am too. This always happens whenever a song I can support is on the verge of reaching #1, that's why with most songs my feeling is "meh" whenever they get to #1.

I often feel that way too. That said, this year has had some good #1s in my opinion. Love Not Letting Go and I like Uptown Funk, See You Again, Cheerleader & House Every Weekend too. Want To Want Me has also grown on me a lot.

Can't really remember the rest if I'm honest. Years like 2003, 2013 & 2014 had better chart toppers.

Well at least a big consolation for Drake is that Hotline Bling will probably be #1 in America which might even be more important to him personally.

"Hello" premieres at 7.30 tomorrow morning - I guess they'll get on iTunes pretty quickly after that
