BuzzJack Music Forum _ Television _ Strictly Come Dancing 2016

Posted by: LexC 9th August 2016, 02:26 PM

The summer's already starting to fade away and so naturally that means it's Strictly time! The BBC are doing their usual thing of releasing the names one at a time over August and so far we've got former Shadow Chancellor and founder of "Ed Balls Day", Ed Balls and token faded 00s popstar and person with their own BuzzJack AF Will Young.

Other names that have been rumoured include daytime Ruth Langsford, Lesley Joseph, Louise Redknapp, Ryan Thomas (Jason from Corrie), Tameka Epsom (Kim from Eastenders), Tim Peake, Angelica Bell, Laura Whitmore, Robert "Judge Rinder" Rinder and Anastacia.

Posted by: Liаm 10th August 2016, 03:29 PM

Laura bloody Whitmore confirmed.

Louise is 100% gonna be the token Pixie Lott sort of "I've never danced before honest" contestant who gets like 34 in the first week if she turns out to be true laugh.gif

Posted by: Martyn 10th August 2016, 09:48 PM

I would love Louise to be on it.

Posted by: LexC 11th August 2016, 11:12 PM

Must listen to Naked, 2 Faced, Undivided Love again.

Posted by: AdamAloud 15th August 2016, 08:13 PM

Looking to be a great line-up!

Posted by: Mack 16th August 2016, 07:21 PM

You can add Danny Mac who played Dodger in Hollyoaks as the next one to be confirmed.

Posted by: cqmerqn 16th August 2016, 07:59 PM

Nice names!!

Posted by: Martyn 17th August 2016, 04:14 PM

Daisy Lowe is next.

Posted by: AdamAloud 18th August 2016, 01:58 PM

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty confirmed.

Posted by: LexC 18th August 2016, 03:35 PM

Chris Evans has said that tomorrow's reveal is somebody who is "known globally" and has worked with Pavarotti and Michael Jackson which pretty much confirms it'll be Anastacia.

Posted by: Kye 19th August 2016, 08:12 AM

They've confirmed its Anastacia! That's a pretty awesome booking, she's so funny I love her.

Yasss this makes me happy.

Posted by: Regina 19th August 2016, 11:01 AM

*.* Think she might be pretty good in this, when I went to see her live she busted out a few moves and had a fab sense of rhythm.

Posted by: T Boy 20th August 2016, 06:37 PM

I may actually watch for Ana only.

Posted by: Sarah 20th August 2016, 10:52 PM

Sooooo excited by this..I can't wait wub.gif

Posted by: LexC 20th August 2016, 11:47 PM

Claudia Fragapane, GB Olympic Gymnast confirmed earlier tonight.

Did somebody say...ringer?

Posted by: LexC 22nd August 2016, 04:17 PM

Judge Rinder confirmed earlier today, final three celebs being announced on The One Show at 7.

Posted by: Mack 22nd August 2016, 06:39 PM

Final three celebrities:

Greg Rutherford (2012 Olympic gold medallist in the long jump)
Lesley Joseph (Dorian from Birds of Feather)
Tameka Empson (Actress who plays Kim Fox in EastEnders)

Posted by: Kye 22nd August 2016, 06:42 PM

It's a pretty immense line-up this year, they've really gone all out again.
Some huge names like Louise, Will Young, Anastacia wub.gif

The only thing that brings it down is the two BBC Breakfast presenters..
That'd be like ITV sending both Nina Hossain & Mark Austin into the jungle for I'm A Celebrity..

Posted by: HarryEzra 22nd August 2016, 06:42 PM

Cannot wait to see Tameka and Greg, for two different reasons kink.gif wub.gif

Posted by: JosephSpears 22nd August 2016, 06:47 PM

Tameka!!!! wub.gif wub.gif

I know everyone this year apart from Claudia Fragapane, excellent line-up!

Posted by: Liаm 22nd August 2016, 07:09 PM

Ugh Tameka

Greg though <3 I rarely watch these days but one of my housemates next year is a dancer and loves Strictly so I'll probably see a fair bit of this one.

Posted by: ThePensmith 22nd August 2016, 08:27 PM

If Lesley Joseph is doing this, I demand a recreation for one of her dances of THIS:

Posted by: RobBob 23rd August 2016, 02:25 PM

Will 1000% be watching this for my number one crush Greg Rutherford wub.gif UGGGGHHHHH.

Such a good line up.

Posted by: HarryEzra 23rd August 2016, 02:50 PM

Greg Rutherford of course will be a reason to watch wub.gif wub.gif

but also Anastacia, Tameka, Will Young, Laura Whitmore and Danny Mac will so also be great to see wub.gif

Posted by: Mack 21st September 2016, 09:58 PM

Ed Balls odds-on favourite to be go out first.

Posted by: ThePensmith 24th September 2016, 11:50 AM

Great first show last night. Everyone seems to be raving about Judge Rinder on Twitter. He was OK, but best dances for me last night were Naga and Pasha, Greg and Natalie and Lesley and Anton.

Posted by: Mack 24th September 2016, 12:00 PM

Greg was overrated I felt not great from an ungrateful Olympic bronze medallist.

Posted by: Adam 24th September 2016, 01:21 PM

I felt like Laura was undermarked and was up there with Greg. Ore was the standout. Lesley did a really lovely job, as did Naga. It really was quite a decent standard throughout.

Rinder was bizarre.. some of it looked like her was quite competent and rhythmic and other parts looked like he had not yet learnt to walk. It was too frenetic for me, my weakest of the night but not without promise.

Posted by: Bonquiqui 24th September 2016, 06:14 PM

why does tess daly continue to find employment

Posted by: Mack 24th September 2016, 06:18 PM

Because the BBC won't get rid of her. What's wrong with Tess, Toby?

Posted by: ThePensmith 24th September 2016, 07:22 PM

I think after tonight's dances Danny off of Hollyoaks is gonna be one to watch. Likewise for Will and Louise! Ed Balls was predictably wooden but not even in an amusing Ann Widdecombe / John Sergeant way - hopefully he goes first next week.

Also that new dancer AJ looks about 12!

Posted by: LexC 24th September 2016, 08:01 PM

Tameka and Judge Rinder were my highlights of the first week for entertainment reasons. Found it hard to wharm to Danny who seemed like "very obvious stage school attendee playing up regional accent to detract from their obvious ringerdom". My money is on Louise/Will/Greg to be the top 3 at this point.

Posted by: Mack 24th September 2016, 08:03 PM

AJ is actually 12 years old, and was a semifinalist on Britain's Got Talent in 2012.

Posted by: Regina 25th September 2016, 12:34 PM

Anastacia's splits *.*

Posted by: Jake 26th September 2016, 01:00 AM

daisy lowe 😵

Posted by: ThePensmith 1st October 2016, 08:55 PM

Some real surprises tonight, namely Ed Balls. I have a feeling it'll be a while before he's voted out after tonight - surprisingly competent Charleston! Tameka Empson's Charleston was also quite good and I loved Lesley and Ore's cha chas. Will's jive was a bit of a let down for me but apparently he did his leg in so I hope he's alright.

Posted by: ThePensmith 2nd October 2016, 07:32 PM

No dance off in the end tonight, it went to viewer votes owing to Anastacia's injury she sustained from her dance. Melvin and Janette went home. Sad Melvin's gone even though his tango wasn't the best. Just hope Anastacia is alright.

Posted by: jase. 2nd October 2016, 07:49 PM

I felt really bad for Anastacia sad.gif Hoping she's better for next week!

Posted by: Jake 3rd October 2016, 10:26 AM

omg the train wreck of anastasia; when she hit brendan in the face 😨

it's v obvious danny mac is going to win, what an incredible dancer, lightyears ahead of the rest. i assume he has a lot of dance background behind him to be they good, they don't remark on him "having never danced before" as they did with abbey clancy who was superb

Posted by: Jake 3rd October 2016, 10:51 AM

also the marking is far too kind, it doesn't leave any benchmark to excel through the rest of the series

Posted by: Regina 3rd October 2016, 11:16 AM

I felt so bad watching Anastacia 😔 She was so terrified of dancing again and hurting herself again.
Considering she had to do a new dance a few hours before the show, she did amazingly well.
Hope she recovers, apparently she's torn some scar tissue and that's why she couldn't dance properly.

Posted by: Bonq 3rd October 2016, 03:08 PM

screaming at Tameka and Kim being one and the same

Posted by: jase. 6th October 2016, 11:49 PM

Bruno apparently had a huge diva fit/strop backstage over the Anastacia/Melvin controversy from Saturday night. Ola + James Jordan were also bitching about the decision, saying how Melvin shoulda stayed.

Posted by: JosephStyles 6th October 2016, 11:54 PM

James Jordan is the absolute worst lmao. Totally bitter.

Posted by: jase. 8th October 2016, 08:29 PM

brb gonna have to watch Ed Balls' samba again because tears were streaming down my face with laughter rotf.gif rotf.gif absolutely AMAZING.

Easily the best show of the series so far and quite possibly one of my all-time faves - I started watching in 2014.

Posted by: ThePensmith 9th October 2016, 10:18 AM

This is the best series since 2014 by far. Will Young doing Jai Ho and Louise giving her best Jennifer Grey impression were both sublime, as was Ore's American smooth and Lesley and Anton's quickstep.

Posted by: Davidson 9th October 2016, 10:23 AM

This is so much more entertaining than X Factor this year.

Everyone is so great, probably the best standard I've ever seen.

Posted by: ThePensmith 9th October 2016, 08:06 PM

Tameka Empson went tonight, with Laura Whitmore also in bottom two. Sad to see both of them there as neither deserved it, but I think it shows how high the standard is this year!

Posted by: Martyn 9th October 2016, 10:29 PM

It's the problem with the tied points going 1st= 1st = 2nd rather than 1st = 1st = 3rd. They should really change that.

Posted by: Joe. 9th October 2016, 10:32 PM

I loved Will Young's dance. Amazing. Len needs to get out of the past!

Posted by: jase. 9th October 2016, 10:34 PM

The Will/Len exchange was SO bloody awkward. I think Will was trying to create another "iconic" moment (much like he did with Simon all those years back on Pop Idol) but it all fell a bit flat really laugh.gif

Absolutely gutted that Tameka went sad.gif Such a massive character and she'll be a big loss to the show. I have NO idea how Naga is still there tbh.

Posted by: Adam 11th October 2016, 09:54 AM

What's weird with Naga is that everything I've read on Strictly forums says 'put her out of her misery' and assumes she is hating it. But I work in the BBC Newsroom and overheard a friend of Naga's today saying how delighted she is to have made it through and how much she is loving it! I guess something is just not clicking.

I was surprised both her and Anastacia avoided the dance off. I think the standard is almost TOO high this year. For the novelty act, Ed is actually pretty good. None of the people going out at this stage deserve to be, and in other series would have had chance to grow.

Posted by: richie 11th October 2016, 10:21 AM

Thought Tameka showing her injury off was a good touch. I didn't see the week before, but surely Anastasia should have forfeited rather than Melvin be kicked off without a chance to save himself?

Posted by: Regina 11th October 2016, 10:37 AM

Why? She was told not to dance but would have done it if she could and besides, Melvin had the lowest number of votes, so it's not like the contest lost a good or more popular dancer. She's not the kind of woman to just roll over and give in.
AnastaCia recovered and was able to show she can dance this week even with limited movement. People seem to be making more out of this than is needed.
It's down to the public and they enjoy certain people more than others.

Posted by: RobBob 11th October 2016, 06:02 PM

Not entirely sure why but Will Young has left the competition.

Posted by: Regina 11th October 2016, 06:12 PM

Oh good, he's such a smug little prick with an ego the size of a bus.

Posted by: JosephStyles 11th October 2016, 06:28 PM

Tameka to return pls *.*

Posted by: RobBob 11th October 2016, 06:42 PM

Can see nobody returning and them just having a week when nobody goes.

Posted by: Cameron 11th October 2016, 06:49 PM

Did he not have an argument with Len on the show?

Posted by: Mack 11th October 2016, 10:36 PM

It weren't really an argument just Will being ultra defensive over comments Len made.

Tameka to come back to Strictly please.

Posted by: jase. 11th October 2016, 10:38 PM

BRING BACK TAMEKA NOW WILL HAS GONE

Of course, this is the good ol traditional BBC. That won't happen.

Posted by: Froot. 11th October 2016, 10:54 PM

They legally can't bring Tameka back (or Melvin for that matter) as the public voted on the basis that someone would leave that week. Bringing them back would render all the voting pointless and therefore the BBC would have 'enticed' the public to waste money by phoning up in a pointless exercise. Everyone who voted last week, did so in consideration that someone would leave that week.

It's not the BBC's fault but the fault of a fair law.

Posted by: jase. 11th October 2016, 11:01 PM

lol I'm aware, I just want them to do a Channel 4/Big Brother/Nikki Grahame and bring her back regardless because she's a huge character and a fair law doesn't entertain me when I'm sat watching on a Saturday night.

Posted by: Mack 12th October 2016, 07:45 AM

Will thought that he better leave right now before he fall any deeper.

Ah, ok. As I said, I didn't see it.

In that case, what was Tameka showing off her injury all about?

Does this mean that they'll finish up a week early now? or will they just have three in the final rather than four like last year?

No, no that's not it.

Why bring someone back who had one of the lowest amounts of votes? It makes no sense, just skip one week of eliminations to make it even again.

lol the BBC obviously won't bring her back but understanding why people want her back (as I've basically said, she's a much-loved character who clearly went too soon) isn't exactly the hardest of things to fathom.

It's gonna be a close call between Ore and Danny at this point - both have been incredible, especially over the past couple of weeks!

Posted by: jase. 16th October 2016, 06:56 PM

Naga: "I'm so sorry it wasn't enough" oh bless her sad.gif I agree with the judges decision, though.

Posted by: richie 17th October 2016, 07:08 AM

At least the bottom two were among the worst dancers this week, the previous week's dance off was pretty ridiculous. Probably good for Naga's sanity that she's gone, she's on TV pretty much every day and can't have had too much time to practice and sleep!

I hope Ed will do a John Sergeant if he starts being kept in at the expense of good dancers, not do a Widdecombe.

Posted by: ThePensmith 23rd October 2016, 04:00 PM

Ed will be on it for as long as the joke's funny. Which after last night (I was literally in hysterics) isn't gonna be any time soon. He'll be gone by the quarter final anyway. Nature of the beast. Ore's deservedly doing well on this. Keeps getting better and better each week - I hope he wins now. I should like to see Louise in final too. Have gone off Danny Mac now because he's just so f***ing smug about how good he is, but I realise he'll be in the final by proxy anyway.

There are lots of men that look younger because they are clean shaven.

Because having sex with a young boy would be child porn and he looks like a young boy which means likening this to child porn in the context of what I'm saying is an extremely easy thing to do? Do I seriously have to break this down for you because it's pretty simple to understand rotf.gif

He has a young face but there's no reasonable way to think he's a child when you look at him as a whole.

Also sex with a young boy is not child porn, it needs to be printed or visual. I would assume a might intellectual like you would know that.

I'm talking about his face, love. You're the one harping on about his body. If I'm f***ing a guy who's looking at me with the face of an 11 year old, um, yeah, I'M personally gonna find it extremely uncomfortable and I'm therefore gonna link this to child porn. Naturally.
Oh so we're dealing with semantics then. Let's call it "I'd feel like a paedophile" then manson.gif

Stick a different face on your sock next time then, problem solved, love.

I see my attempt to change the topic failed.

I don't think he does, facially he looks younger than 21 but not below legal age at all. I don't think it's anything even close to the thought of having sex with a child, I just find it a strange comparison myself to compare a 21 year old to a 12 year old, regardless of looks!

What kind of horrendous, juvenile response? I would say I'm surprised but seeing your general interactions around the forum, I'm really not, love.

And that's fine that you feel that way. It's just personal preference I guess *shrug*

Anyway
The song list for the weekend is out. I look foward to seeing who can have the least connection to Halloween songs between Strictly and X Factor.

Just checked the song list + dances

I can not WAIT to see Ore doing the Charleston wub.gif wub.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 30th October 2016, 06:10 PM

With the exception of Louise and Kevin's Charleston, a bit of a let down Halloween episode last night. I also thought Craig was being unnecessarily overtly critical on Greg Rutherford and Natalie Lowe, I thought their rumba was beautiful. Ed Balls needs to go now as well, the joke's not funny anymore.

Posted by: ThePensmith 30th October 2016, 08:14 PM

Daisy and Aljaz and Anastacia and Brendan in dance off, Anastacia is now out the competition. Not really surprised if I'm honest. Glad Louise and Ore are both still in.

Posted by: Joe. 31st October 2016, 03:58 PM

Louise and Laura at the two that I'm behind now! Really hope they can make the final.

Posted by: ThePensmith 5th November 2016, 08:01 PM

Bugger me Louise and Kevin's Argentine tango was awesome. Really want her in the final now!

Posted by: ThePensmith 6th November 2016, 10:04 PM

Ore and Laura in dance off tonight, Laura went home. Who the hell is still voting for Ed Balls?

Posted by: richie 7th November 2016, 08:21 AM

Public vote is really stupid. I'll bet people only vote to "save" those in the bottom two or somebody who was in last week's dance off, completely ignoring those in the middle and that's why good dancers keep ending up going. They should scrap the public vote and just go with the judges - but it's probably pretty lucrative for the makers.

They should also stop this ridiculous pretence that the Sunday show wasn't recorded the night before - especially now that there are hundreds of "Strictly spoiler" tweets going around once the result has leaked out. No reason why they couldn't show the dance off on Saturday night after the lottery.

Watching this for the first time in years and lol at Ed Balls. I can see why people are voting him through!

It was Kenny Logan who appeared twice when it was supposedly and he was a pundit at the same time during the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

First perfect score of the series from Danny.

Posted by: jase. 20th November 2016, 10:04 PM

Sorry but Danny's dance (as good as it was) didn't deserve a 40

I feel like AJ is reading off an autocue whenever he speaks, it's very bizarre laugh.gif

Posted by: richie 23rd November 2016, 08:22 AM

Given some of the average dances in previous years that have gained 40, I'd say Danny definitely deserved it. Some of his earliest dances were better than final dances from previous years.

Posted by: MARIAH. 11th December 2016, 03:29 PM

Claudia is so good, and I feel the judges are a lot harsher in their criticism of her compared to the others, and they're certainly under-marking her at this point. sad.gif It also seems most of the time that the judges are valuing apparent emotion & story telling over actual dance content? Particularly Darcey. I don't even think Claudia's hugely guilty of what they keep telling her either. Meh! Her Quick Step was amazing.

Ore is by far the most overrated at this point. If you compare his Quick Step to Claudia's, it's clear to see his has less content in it. To me it almost looked like they were just running across the floor without particularly intricate foot work while doing so. ;o

Louise really dipped last night imo (yet somehow managed the same overall score as Claudia) but she has had some great dances in previous weeks. Particularly her Argentine Tango!

Danny is consistently great!

Posted by: Kye 11th December 2016, 04:23 PM

^ I agree! Claudia was way under marked last night. Ore's quickstep was nowhere near as good as Claudia & AJ's.. ridiculous.

Posted by: jase. 11th December 2016, 04:31 PM

I just have a feeling Louise is gonna win this ohmy.gif

I think Claudia's going tonight sad.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 16th December 2016, 08:14 PM

Final tomorrow night, then. Also Len Goodman's last show bar the Christmas special - they've got a tribute show for him next Friday at 7pm on BBC One.

I really would love Ore to win just cause I think he's got better and better each week.

Posted by: LexC 16th December 2016, 10:12 PM

Fully backing Louise for the win tomorrow night but I can settle with Ore winning it. Danny can gtfo.

Posted by: jase. 17th December 2016, 05:25 PM

Just stuck a tenner on Ore to win seeing as though he's doing THAT jive wub.gif

Put a tenner on Louise seeing as though she's never been in the bottom two

Danny can piss off.

Posted by: Martyn 17th December 2016, 05:37 PM

I suspect like with Matt, they will play on Danny being the bottom 2 last week and he will win.

Posted by: JingleBellsMack 17th December 2016, 05:56 PM

Backing Louise to win tonight.

Posted by: ThePensmith 17th December 2016, 07:37 PM

Ore's show dance was awesome!

Posted by: Liаm 17th December 2016, 07:41 PM

Danny has to win but I bet it will be Louise :/

Posted by: jase. 17th December 2016, 08:07 PM

Louise FINALLY getting a 40 wub.gif

Posted by: Christmas 17th December 2016, 08:17 PM

Louise is so wooden, especially in that Flashdance performance. She's not a deserving finalist from what I've seen.

Posted by: ThePensmith 17th December 2016, 08:46 PM

That tribute to Len was so moving. Will miss him...really hope they get Anton in his place for next year!

Posted by: Liаm 17th December 2016, 08:50 PM

Ore ohmy.gif

He was brilliant though I thought. Wish I'd bet on him earlier now, I was so close! drama.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 17th December 2016, 08:56 PM

So happy for Ore - what a great series this has been!

Posted by: jase. 17th December 2016, 08:58 PM

That tenner on Ore got me back £96 wub.gif I'm so glad he won - for a guy who had literally zero dance experience, for him to go out and do a jive like THAT...yeah, he more than deserved it biggrin.gif

Posted by: MARIAH. 17th December 2016, 09:42 PM

Well damn x There was me placing bets on Danny & Louise yesterday, feeling confident that either of them was more likely to win than Ore. Argh! *Never bets again x*

The dance of the night for me was Danny & Oti's samba! Oti is incredible. heart.gif

She really is. I actually found myself watching her more than I did Danny.

Posted by: JingleBellsMack 17th December 2016, 10:48 PM

7-1, Ore was to win before the final. He fully deserved it.

Posted by: Tinasha 17th December 2016, 11:00 PM

Ore seemed so false-humble, he annoyed me, but he did well and deserved it. Nobody I was hugely rooting for this year tbh.

Posted by: Adam 20th December 2016, 12:03 AM

If it means anything, having worked with Ore, he always seemed to me a genuinely nice, down to earth bloke.

I didn't think he had a chance of winning but I do really think he was best of the night. All three showdances were good but his was just perfect!
