I think MK Dons have a good chance of bouncing back up. Either that, or they'll fail hilariously.

Posted by: Flatcap 26th August 2018, 10:49 AM

Indeed they have, quite an unexpected position for them especially after last season's position. The first team coaches Mark Crossley and Steve Chettle are in temporary charge until a replacement can be found.

Article about Gary Johnson's sacking as well: -

Harry Kewell has left Crawley Town to take over as Notts County manager.

There was an approach from Notts County for Kewell to replace Nolan.

Players were due to be paid on Wednesday, but the situation is expected to be resolved by Friday.

Notts County Football Club’s Owner and Chairman Alan Hardy has ‘very reluctantly’ put the club up for sale.

Things aren't looking good for one of the founder members of the league.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 31st January 2019, 04:34 PM

It would really seem strange not having Notts County in the Football League!

Posted by: Steve201 3rd February 2019, 01:32 PM

Oldest club in English football!

Posted by: ImTheLime 3rd February 2019, 02:04 PM

Edit: What I wrote was clearly meant to be in the League One page so I’ll just say it was only a matter of time before something like this would happen to County with their ageing fanbase

Posted by: Mack. 5th February 2019, 01:49 AM

Port Vale have appointed former Macclesfield Town and Shrewsbury Town boss John Askey as their new manager.

Posted by: Mack. 8th February 2019, 03:05 PM

Confirmed that Paul Scholes has resigned as Oldham manager after 31 days.

Posted by: Seinfeld 14th March 2019, 08:00 PM

What a bizarre situation. We'll probably have to put up with the miserable sod on BT Sport again.

Posted by: Steve201 14th March 2019, 09:03 PM

Wasn't really up to the job from what I seen!

Posted by: Flatcap 22nd March 2019, 05:21 PM

According to what I read, it wasn't run the way Scholes was led to believe.

They are back to Pete Wild for the rest of the season.

Lincoln could they be promoted next week? It's an possibility.

Posted by: Steve201 27th March 2019, 10:01 AM

What an impact the manager has had, 2 promotions in 3 seasons now if all goes well.

A Macclesfield Town supporters' group has threatened to stop giving money to the club after players and staff were not paid March's wages on time and a terrace was closed at Moss Rose.

Lincoln City have been promoted to League One for the first time in 22 years.

Posted by: Flatcap 13th April 2019, 06:11 PM

Just looked at the table, have you seen how close it is for the other two automatic spots?

As for Carlisle, a bad day at the office. Still a chance, but our lack of consistency (if we get in the play-offs) might well cost us promotion.

Posted by: Suedehead2 21st April 2019, 08:41 AM

Down to two from three for the drop out of the league.

Notts County - founder members of the league in 1888 (over 100 years before Sky think football started)
Macclesfield - would be the first team to go straight back down after promotion to the league
Yeovil - could be challenging for their old title as most famous non-league club

Posted by: Mack. 28th April 2019, 09:14 AM

Wins for Notts County & Macclesfield yesterday. Yeovil relegated , final fixtures next week Macclesfield at home to Cambridge , County away at Morecambe.

Macc: Played 45 43pts GD -26
Notts C: Played 45 41 pts GD -34

Posted by: Steve201 28th April 2019, 09:30 PM

Disappointing for Yeovil - a team that were in the championship 5 years ago.

Posted by: Flatcap 2nd May 2019, 07:43 PM

Final League two play off spot is quite a battle, Newport, Exeter, Colchester, Carlisle and Stevenage all have a chance...

Posted by: Steve201 2nd May 2019, 07:46 PM

Do Forest Green still have a shot at automatic promo?

They could only go up automatically if Mansfield and Franchise FC both lose. Unfortunately for Forest Green, those two teams are playing each other, so they cannot both lose. The answer to your question, then, is No.

Posted by: Steve201 2nd May 2019, 09:32 PM

Ah well, hope they win the playoffs and Mansfield go up automatically!

Posted by: Mack. 5th May 2019, 02:35 PM

Play-off Semi-finals:

Newport v Mansfield
Tranmere v Forest Green

Posted by: Steve201 5th May 2019, 02:50 PM

Would be nice to see Forest Green win the playoffs!

Posted by: Suedehead2 5th May 2019, 03:09 PM

Very sad to see Notts County, founder members of the Football League, join the list of clubs taken out of the league by dreadful owners.

Posted by: Flatcap 5th May 2019, 07:44 PM

Didn't happen for us this season, our lack of consistency and performances against teams which were near the bottom of the table as well as a change in manager didn't help...

Next season hopefully.

Indeed that is sad for them, the world's oldest league club. It's a shame for them.

Shame to see MK Dons back up to League One with Mansfield losing.

Oldham Athletic head coach Pete Wild has left the club for personal reasons.

Wild, 34, had two spells in caretaker charge of the League Two Latics this season, following the departure of managers Frankie Bunn and Paul Scholes.

In March he was appointed until the end of the campaign, guiding Oldham to a 14th-placed finish in the fourth tier.

Posted by: Flatcap 9th May 2019, 05:01 PM

Carlisle have signed Jack Iredale from Greenock Morton.

Pressley has released a few players, plus Danny Grainger has retired.

Anthony Gerrard, Gary Liddle, Jason Kennedy, Gary Miller, Richie Bennett, George Glendon, Arthur Gnahoua and Peter Grant have all been released.

Bennett has been on loan at Morecambe, Kennedy has had a season hit by injury. Glendon been there since last season and Gnahoua and Grant been there on short term deals. Unlucky Gnahoua only played for 27 minutes...

Posted by: Mack. 10th May 2019, 11:13 AM

Newport Mansfield 1-1 after the 1st leg .

All to play for and Mansfield's home form has been a bit iffy.

Posted by: Steve201 10th May 2019, 07:25 PM

Forest Green have a man s/off in the first 20 mins here!

Posted by: Mack. 13th May 2019, 03:08 PM

Newport County through to the play-off final after beating Mansfield on penalties yesterday.

Posted by: Mack. 14th May 2019, 12:55 AM

Tranmere Rovers moved to within one win of achieving back-to-back promotions as they overcame 10-man Forest Green Rovers to reach the League Two play-off final.

Posted by: Mack. 21st May 2019, 12:52 PM

So on Saturday, it is the play-off final between Newport County and Tranmere Rovers.

Who do you think will win?

Newport County were last in League One in the 1986/87 season.

Tranmere Rovers were last in League One in the 2013/14 season.

Posted by: Steve201 21st May 2019, 09:39 PM

And in this - Newport County for the win.

James Norwood will be hard to keep quiet in the final!

Posted by: Mack. 28th May 2019, 02:17 PM

Well done Tranmere on double promotions. Shame for Newport County though.
