Pre-order for a greatest hits album for The Kooks looks set to go live tomorrow along with the release of new track 'Be Who You Are'. The track will receive its first play during Jo Whiley's show on Radio 2 this evening.

Was a big fan of The Kooks 2005-2008 but hadn't really listened to much of them since then so it'll be good to hear it all again!

An unexpected release tbh, especially when most people won't know anything other than 'Naive' or 'She Moves in Her Own Way', but I suppose it could be an interesting listen. For instance, I thought it was odd when Keane released a Greatest Hits collection, yet I found myself enjoying a lot more than just the obvious two hits.

Enjoy the Kooks but they have been away too long - when was their last album - 2011?

Radio 2 premiere means it may not be played much on radio 1!

The Best Of...So Far. That's a very optimistic title.

Surprisingly, they had two top 40 singles in 2014, and an album around the same time.

Ah thanks I remember it and radio 1 supported it which surprised me, just thought it was much longer ago!

Aren't Greatest Hits a bit pointless these days? Having said that, this is actually a pretty decent track listing, aside from the omission of the brilliant 'Around Town' - why would they leave that out when it went Top 40, but include the two follow up singles which didn't chart?

Errrrr where's "Around Town", very strange to snub that when it did a little better than Down did. 35 & 40 in the charts respectively. unsure.gif

I'd have liked to see Are We Electric on here, but other than that it's a strong tracklisting and I'll probably stream it on the week of release.

I don't really think they ever bettered or even matched the 1-2 punch of Naive/She Moves In Her Own Way mind.
