Yes, great news! That's my favorite single choice she (or her team) has made this era.

I was just thinking how exciting it is to see the era still going strong heading toward the fifth single. I wish more artists would have albums like this with three, soon to be four, post-album hits.

Posted by: Liаm Aug 5 2015, 04:55 AM

omfggg CRYING

Just getting back into this in a huge way, I felt like it was always going to be a single <3 So glad it will be, stunning track and a bit of a change of style singles-wise.

"New Romantics" to close the era after this pls *.*

Best single off the album so far then, YAY

(I know this is SO controversh, but let me have this one)

Hoping it'll be better than Bad Blood as Style was great and SIO and Blank Space were lush music.gif

Posted by: HausofKübrick Aug 5 2015, 09:22 AM

Best song off the album easily and probably form her entire back catalogue for me too. Absolutely STUNNING choice, I will be standing this hard wub.gif

Posted by: Joe. Aug 5 2015, 09:24 AM

It's a good song. Never really screamed single for me though. The only song left that did was 'Out Of The Woods'.

Posted by: J▲hq Aug 5 2015, 09:25 AM

I've always found it overrated, when I'm doing a rank of the [deluxe] album it's towards the lower end like not even in my top 10.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 Aug 5 2015, 10:07 AM

OMG I'M DEAD YES YES YES YES YES cry.gif
Hallelujah it's by far the best remaining from the album and in my top 2 from 1989, such an utterly beautiful and amazing track heart.gif

Posted by: Davidson Aug 5 2015, 10:25 AM

Best song on the album by a long way. Please smash hard wub.gif

**ensue washing machine breakdown**

Posted by: mr_aly Aug 5 2015, 12:48 PM

Can't believe it, why do they keep avoiding 'Out Of The Woods'? pirate.gif (I knew they would though)

I do like this, but still.

Posted by: Ryan. Aug 5 2015, 02:39 PM

Good decision. I'd personally have preferred Out of the Woods or New Romantics, but aside from those two I think it's the best single choice they could've made! They need to make another fantastic video, and I could see Calvin remixing this one actually in the style of 'Summertime Sadness' perhaps.

Posted by: JosephStyles Aug 5 2015, 02:48 PM

I would HATE a Calvin remix of this so I'm praying it doesn't happen. It's stunning in its current form and a washing machine generic breakdown would totally ruin it sad.gif

Posted by: Cameron Aug 5 2015, 05:09 PM

She clearly has forgotten that Out Of The Woods exists

Ugh, I can't picture that working at all. At best, I think it'd probably be an unnecessary change that doesn't add or subtract anything meaningful from the song. At worst, it'll completely kill it.

I'm kind of surprised at the single choice, tbh. Wildest Dreams is not one of the songs that I see getting tossed around a lot in conversation about 1989 or Taylor Swift in general. It's also one of the weaker songs on the album, if you ask me.

And, on the subject of Out of the Woods, I think she may be waiting to release that as a "final hurrah" for the album. It seems to be a fan favorite and is doing quite well for itself despite not having a video. I mean, tbh, that's probably what I'd do in her shoes. Draw out the hype for 1989 as long as possible, then release a single/video version of one of the most popular songs and drop an announcement for the next album alongside it when it feels like things are dying down. But, I'm 99% sure that I'm not Taylor Swift, so who knows? She may just snub it completely like artists do all the time for fan favorites.

Posted by: barbaric_dan Aug 6 2015, 05:19 PM

I was convinced she was gonna go with NR. It's like everyone's favourite.

The full video premieres on Sunday 30th on the VMAs pre-show! biggrin.gif

And it was directed by Joseph Kahn once again (who directed the amazing Blank Space and Bad Blood videos!):

Posted by: Juan Carlos Aug 24 2015, 03:34 AM

This is going to be interesting. Looking forward to it!

All Access have revealed that 'Wildest Dreams' is sent to US radio stations tomorrow, and that it will be a new radio remix!

QUOTE
TAYLOR SWIFT's voice was in top form and she showed her musical expertise with several solo performances including an acoustic version of "You Belong To Me", a rockin' electric guitar intro on "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," and a solo piano performance of her new single "Wildest Dreams" which will be delivered to radio on TUESDAY (8/25) with a new radio remix.

I love the original and I struggle to see it being improved, but I'm still very interested and hopefully it will mean more sales for the single!

Posted by: JosephStyles Aug 24 2015, 10:14 PM

It better not be a drastic change because it's stunning in its current form. I'd genuinely rather see it limp in at #24 with its original version than #1 with a tacky remix lol. Let's hope it's not that big a change.

Posted by: Liаm Aug 24 2015, 10:15 PM

Nooooo not a remix sad.gif It's kind of pointless if it's a subtle one like the random Everything Has Changed remix (I know that wasn't the main single version but still) but it's going to wreck if it was a rapper or a dance remix, I'm not sure what to expect.... The original is so magical but obviously I'll reserve judgement until I hear this new version.

Posted by: Regina Aug 24 2015, 10:18 PM

Wildest Dreams (feat. Shania Twain) tbh

Posted by: LeeWallace Aug 24 2015, 10:22 PM

She's trying to copy the Katy Perry 'Teenage Dream' era tbh.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 Aug 24 2015, 10:36 PM

I'll reserve a bit of judgment till I hear it but I really wish this wasn't being remixed sad.gif

Posted by: Ryan. Aug 24 2015, 10:42 PM

I think it'll probably just be a subtle remix, like the remix Not Giving Up received for its single release. I would be intrigued in a Summertime Sadness style dance remix if that were to happen presumably with Calvin, but at the same time the original is so gorgeous that it'd be great for that to get the exposure.

Posted by: JosephStyles Aug 24 2015, 10:44 PM

I would HATE it to get a copy and paste dance instrumental sad.gif Would ruin everything that the song's about.

Posted by: Ryan. Aug 24 2015, 10:49 PM

I wouldn't mind if it was remixed if it was executed as well as Summertime Sadness was as that just felt right for the song, it didn't feel generic or anything - it actually improved that song massively for me. Admittedly my familiarility with Wildest Dreams in comparison will make it much tougher - probably impossible - to improve but I'm not 100% against it at this point if it were to happen.

That said, if it was going to be remixed so dramatically I think they'd have made a bigger deal about it than they have.

Very faithful to the original, just a bit of extra production in terms of drums and synths and more power in the second and final choruses especially. It's a bit less subtle than the original so will have more impact for first time radio listeners, very good work overall!

Posted by: Liаm Aug 24 2015, 11:37 PM

Ahhhhh that's fine then, I'd have melted down at a washing machine breakdown dance version! It does just give it a bit more impact for radio, which is needed. I do prefer the magic and subtle mysticism of the original but that edit is fine, phew laugh.gif

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 Aug 25 2015, 12:26 AM

Amazing wub.gif It's literally the same as the 11/10 original just with the last chorus being made even better wub.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles Aug 25 2015, 12:27 AM

Yeah that radio edit is perfectly fine, thank god laugh.gif Adds a little extra oomph for the casual radio listener!

Another great video once again! As I was watching it first time I was thinking whether it was basically 'Style' but filmed in Africa, but once we reached the final chorus the storyline totally clicked with me. Simple, yet portrays the lyrics of the song perfectly. Fantastic! wub.gif

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 Aug 31 2015, 01:20 AM

Beautiful video, love the story and it is visually stunning wub.gif Also so many giraffes heart.gif

Is it the radio remix or the original though?

Posted by: vicious ritabot Aug 31 2015, 09:52 AM

Sounds like a Lana Del Rey parody imo...

Posted by: Taylor Jago Aug 31 2015, 10:05 AM

Really good, much better than Bad Blood.

Posted by: Mackenzie Aug 31 2015, 10:26 AM

The video just lacks something in the beginning but the final minute is equal to bad blood, the narrative makes sense and it fits the song so perfectly! So glad this is getting a shot, defiantly my favourite from 1989

Posted by: Ja˙ Aug 31 2015, 10:33 AM

wub.gif Great video! Love the theme, it really goes nicely with the song (even though it doesn't seem to at the start, as a whole it fits).

Lol at the message at the end of the video. So very Taylor.

Lana wishes she could put out anything even 1/20th as fabulous as this post BTD era.

Posted by: ┌ ╫ ┘ Aug 31 2015, 02:27 PM

is this another joseph kahn produced video? it's very his style. whilst this isn't my first choice for single at this stage the new mix builds really nicely and the video is art. perfectly shot and edited, beauuuuuutiful cinematography!

just 'new romantics' next pls

Posted by: HausEveryWeekend Aug 31 2015, 02:52 PM

I was worried the new mix would potentially ruin what is EASILY my favourite Taylor song, but if anything it's given it more life!

The video is absolutely stunning too, it all works perfectly.

AND all proceeds earned from the video to be donated to wild animal conservation efforts through the African Parks Foundation of America <3

Posted by: Cameron Aug 31 2015, 04:42 PM

The video is lovely! She reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor

Posted by: Ninjabait Aug 31 2015, 05:54 PM

I wasn't really hooked on to it at first and I thought the video was a bit silly and cliched at first, but the last minute or so really changes the whole video and wraps it up quite nicely. It fits the song quite nicely and plays off the title too. I'm definitely liking this one the most from the 1989 videos so far. Which is funny because it's one of the weakest songs from the album for me.

Posted by: JSG Aug 31 2015, 07:26 PM

Still no Out Of The Woods :sniff: This Is a lovely Song though I just hope she left gives OOTW a last minute push as this era's closer.

100%. The first three minutes are actually quite disappointing considering the locations/budget - kind of ruin the mood of the song. But the final minute is epic. Fantastic single.
