Hot off the heels of Tinashe crashing out of Dancing With The Stars in week 4 despite having led the leadboard twice and been second the other two times, what shock results stick in your mind from any shows you've seen?
The big one for me is still Laura White in X Factor, she didn't have her best week but for her to even be bottom 2, let alone be sent home, was absolutely astounding (not that Ruth should have been either). The X Factor week 5 curse had some corkers actually, Maria Lawson must have been a colossal shock at the time given that she was the bookies fave at that point (I didn't watch until season 3 so didn't see that at the time), and it caused so much shit because of Louis Walsh backing the Irish act over her |

I could go on for a while just from DWTS and American Idol alone!

Omg Pia Toscano coming like 9th but them wasting their save on Casey the week before Speaking of Idol, Jennifer Hudson might be the ultimate example actually, probably the most talented person ever to go on Idol alongside Carrie and Fantasia and she came 7th :/
Also obligatory Australia mention, Ricki-Lee in Australian Idol in 2004, the smaller scale Australian version of Jennifer Hudson coming like 8th in AI, I believe she was fave to win at the time and there was national outrage in newspapers etc |

I remember Jennifer's elimination was a giant cloud of controversy bc there were three black women who dominated the show week after week and the week she was eliminated, those three (Fantasia, LaToya, J-Hud) were the bottom three, so the fans thought it was racist that it happened. Also AI related, Chris Daughtry was a giant shock at the time as well (he got the more successful career tho, RIP Scorpion).
I just noticed this, but since Chris Soules appeared on DWTS, every Bachelor alum has spurred a giant shock elimination (from a female of course) for that season: Season 20: Willow Shields getting eliminated despite being joint second, however Chris pulled off a decent dance that week so I can forgive him. (Who should have gone based on scores: Robert Herjavec) Season 24: Heather Morris getting the shaft despite doing extremely well throughout. I didn't think Nick Viall deserved to go home that week but his jive was the kiss of death. (Who should have gone home based on scores: Bonner Bolton) Season 27: Tinashe... where to start? She was at the top every single week apart from last week (joint second with Evanna) but got eliminated over Joe who was at the bottom of the leaderboard every week. A lot of the fans are calling racism and misogyny on this. (Who should have gone home based on scores: Joe Amabile) |

Oh goodness I remember Maria Lawson being voted off X Factor over The Conway Sisters. Specifically, I remember Sharon Osbourne screeching something about the Irish mafia. She literally looked like she wanted Louis Walsh's head on a plate.
Of more recent times...Aston Merrygold being voted off Strictly for me. I still think Craig and Shirley tactically gave him the marks he got so that he left to maintain the Debbie/Alexandra duopoly. Although he is currently touring with Harry Judd and Louis Smith in a 60s inspired dance show called Rip It Up and had a sold out tour earlier this year so he's had the last laugh really. |

Maria Lawson was a massive shock. I remember just about everyone was fuming! She got eliminated over The Conway Sisters, who were diabolical. At least she released a great song afterwards though
Also, although in hindsight it was the correct decision, Javine being beated to the last spot by Sarah Harding to join Girls Aloud was a crazy shock. Can we add Manon being ousted too off of Bake Off? 🙃 on a show that predominantly eliminates people based on skill at the time and it usually doesn't matter how well they performed previously, her going over Rahul... bitch please. |

I think it was a shock when Will Young beat Gareth Gates to win Pop Idol, as Gareth was the bookie's favourite.
