I don’t get the cheap production comments people make either tbh. For me, there was a layered, richness of sound in Northern Star, which I missed in albums 2 - 4. Beautiful Intentions had more of a focus on thrashing guitars, as that was her vibe at the time. But perhaps it was about the sound she was going for, rather than any budgetary constraints. |

Next Best Superstar was added to the C list of Radio 2. They also made Beautiful Intentions their Album of the Week. They didn't support Better Alone though. Well, I mean radio play that mattered at that point in time and would've done something for her. I assume 'Better Alone' was more or less considered a cancelled single. |

If I recall correctly, it was her UK radio plugger who advised against releasing it. She is the one who makes the decisions after all. I recall exactly what BBoy says, she said that the song was tied to her record company in Europe and they didn't want it released in the UK since they didn't think it would make an impact. |

No. I've watched the live stream in which she talked about it. It wasn't tied to any other record company. It was released all across Europe, even in countries where Warner didn't distribute it. |

You’ll Get Yours is such a fantastic track.
Would’ve made an excellent single. |

After the album tanked in the UK and Better Alone was pulled her career as a major selling artist in the UK was over so why not at least try FDOML? It had a video, it was ready to go. If it flopped on its arse so be it, her last single she cancelled it as it was going to tank so hard it couldn't be worse than that.

My view would have been to give it a try too, at least there would have been a talking point about it legitimately being a huge smash in Europe. Surely there wasn’t much to lose in giving it a go. When you think that her next move in the UK was releasing I Want Candy 18 months later…

When you think that her next move in the UK was releasing I Want Candy 18 months later… Yeah, exactly. I think it was worth giving it a shot, even as a stand-alone single if she didn't want to waste more money re-releasing the album. As you said, it actually having been a smash hit in continental Europe would've been a selling point; clearly it struck a chord with people. |

She probably was advised that it wouldnt be given much attention and thought to cancel it as she wasn't going to gain anything from it. She also didnt write it so the benefit for her was minimal.
