Fantastic day for the BBC! Eastenders and Sherlock over 8m! heart.gif

This is how the Eastenders NYD ratings have looked since 2008:

2016: 7.24m / 8.29m
2015: 8.53m
2014: 7.30m
2013: 9.09m
2012: 9.76m
2011: 8.95m
2010: 9.78m / 11.64m
2009: 9.31m / 8.58m
2008: 8.90m

This year isn't down by much year-on-year which is great given NYD 2015 followed on from a very solid Christmas which we didn't have this time around.

oops at Beowulf looking to be another flop for ITV. Bit of a disaster for them considering how much they spent on it and Jekyll & Hyde.

No one can stand a chance against BBC One on Sundays. Soon Call the Midwife will be back as well making it even more difficult for the other channels.

A great start for War & Peace. I'm sure the BBC will be delighted if it maintains that audience, particularly with charter renewal coming up.

Well I was hoping for better Eastenders ratings, but the rest of the soaps have done really well. Shame Emmerdale couldn't quite pass 7m.

ITV looking soooo much healthier than it has done recently too. Another good night for the BBC too - Silent Witness only 120k down on last year.

It may have been its lowest January launch but I was actually expecting worse for CBB, especially considering they unveiled the line-up beforehand.
