ABBA GOLD: SURVIVOR
I’ve taken it upon myself to launch my own survivor poll type thing, this one is for one of the biggest selling album of all times and also (sort of) coincides with the buzz around Mamma Mia again. The rules are simple please vote for YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE and every couple of days I will eliminate the song with the most votes until we have a winner. LATEST ELIMINATED 19th Place - I Have A Dream (6/23 votes, 26.09%) So it is the first to fall is one of ABBA’s big ballads and indeed one of their most straightforward in I Have A Dream. IHAD features lead vocals from Frida and reached #2 in December 1979 being held from the top spot by Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick In The Wall’, the song also almost uniquely for ABBA features outside vocals in the form of a children’s choir from the International School of Stockholm. My view on this song is that whilst it’s pretty it’s ABBA at their most saccharine and I can see why it was given the boot first. The Name Of The Game was the runner up for this round with 5 votes, another ballad One of Us recieved 4, Does Your Mother Know finishes us off with songs receiving multiple votes. Dancing Queen; Knowing Me, Knowing You; Super Trouper; Voulez-Vous and Waterloo all ended up with a solitary detractor. 10 songs remain unattacked at this stage. |

GUYS. What did I say?
QUOTE does your mother know/one of us to survive as long as possible I think my least favourite now is Take A Chance On Me so that I guess. I expect I might be a while though as you all casually throw out stuff that should be winning. |

Went for The Name of the Game again. I have a feeling that the splits between NOTG/One of Us will ensure that neither of those songs get eliminated for some time, and then they'll go out one after another. #ScrewAV.

I will continue picking Super Trouper until it goes out. It's a pity The Day Before You Came isn't on the Gold album. It's by far their best single.

Been having a listen to the album again since we're playing survivor. So much nostalgia is coming back to me (of 2008 Mamma Mia film release time rather than the 70s ) but still an incredible compilation!
Very glad I Have A Dream has left as it's the only song of the nineteen I wouldn't choose to listen to - things are going well in my opinion so far as I'm voting for 'The Name of the Game' now - still a good song but probably the most forgettable song of the album imo. One of Us is super underrated so I'm hoping that can stay on for as long as it can! |

Went for The Name Of the Game. Hoping Does Your Mother Know can at least be Top 10.

Went for 'The Name Of The Game' again. Like Patrick it is also the most forgettable of the album for me.

I didn't realise 'The Name Of The Game' was so apparently forgettable. One of their better songs for me!
I will die on my hill voting out 'Dancing Queen' until it inevitably ends up winning x |

Voted for Thank You for The Music as my least favourite.
I just don't really like the lyrics tbh and the fact it is a song about liking music, its a bit cheesy. This post has been edited by The Snake : 14th February 2018, 06:08 PM |

Does look like a done deal.....but I voted Voulez-Vous.....I just don't find much appealing with this song, as least favorites are being asked for in this survivor rate....I'll listen to this one maybe 1/2 the time it comes round in its playing...I consider meself a fan of the group, not as big as some, not as small as others....I'm a big enough fan to have gotten the box set of their studio albums several years ago on eBay, and it's interesting to hear the different versions of some songs all at one album or another...
