It's quite a good track from the album, but would've preferred OMG or Adidas as the next single tbh. I expect they chose this one next because it's got Jason in it and he's pretty big these days

Perrie sounds absolutely amazing on this. If she hits those notes live it would give you shivers. Jason's autotune in the middle 8 ruins it though but excellent single choice.

This has potential to be my favourite single of theirs along with Black Magic and Move. Stunning, they needed a song like this ... previous ballads such as 'Change Your Life' and 'Little Me' were nice but didn't have a lot of emotion to them.

I'm wondering if hey might actually send this to radio as early as he next couple of weeks, as I think an X Factor final performance with Jason is very possible. Especially since 4th Impact will very probably make the final, so a duet with Little Mix is likely.

Last year Olly Murs moved on from 'Wrapped Up' really quickly, Radio 1 removed it and replaced it with 'Up' on the same week, so they could still do another single before 2016.

Really not on board with this single choice, Pt.1 without Jason Derulo would have been better but Weird People would have been the perfect choice. Two ballads in a row and in January of all times? To think the girls have now stooped as low to a Jason Derulo feature, a Pixie Lott tea

It peaked in February though like all their other singles that missed the top 10 bar LMLY, it was a very wrong single choice to begin with in my opinion...

January is quite a good time for ballad releases. Especially songs like this. I really think/hope that this could do a Saturdays 'Issues'! But saying that, I thought 'Love Me Like You' would be a huge staple for the likes of Heart, but considering that although it's getting ok airplay from them, I can't help but feel that it should be stronger, so I dunno!

I wouldn't necessarily say Love Me Like You is a ballad anyway even though it's clearly not an uptempo. Secret Love Song is definitely a change of pace from Love Me Like You, it's a very clear ballad.

Yeah I guess calling LMLY a ballad is quite generous, when only its chorus is reminiscent of a ballad. SLS is probably the best option for a slow tempo/ballad single, I just struggle to get behind Jason Derulo's nasal vocal, Perrie basically owning the song and her dodgy enunciation.
Like I said in the album thread, it's essentially Perrie Edwards feat. Jason Derulo lol.

I would say LMLY is uptempo, it's not as high-octane as Black Magic, but it's still quite happy and sing along. It's just a more old-fashioned kind of Motown tempo, I agree with Jonjo, it's quite bizarre that Heart didn't take to this, it's more up their ally than Black Magic that they still play loads.
Secret Love song will do really well for the last couple of weeks of December/ January. But it needs a big performance to kick things off, December release songs often get lost within all the Christmas songs/mania.

If 'Secret Love Song' has an X-factor slot it will hold up incredibly well, it will basically be the exact same as 'Up' but will overall sell a little bit less.
Anyway, I'v heard the album a couple of times and I'm not impressed, I'm so disappointed with it, the only highlights are all singles, omg, lightning and a.d.i.d.a.s.

It would be amazing if they could a final slot on The X Factor, but I'm not getting my hopes up after what happened with Little Me last year. I'd imagine they would need to get SLS playlisted on Radio 1 before the Christmas Freeze as well

They've been a lot more successful with this era than they were with Salute, there's more demand for them and they're selling more, so I really do think an X Factor finale performance is likely.

You underrate him as a live vocalist tbh. Ive seen him live and although obviously not "great", he's a more than competant enough live vocalist. Especially with how much he puts into his performances.

Oh Simon! :'( the girls are yet to perform on the final as a guest performer! I think they're big enough to do so and their performance went down a STORM. So it's a shame to see that not happen. (Still got everything crossed though - as unlikely as it seems)

I think a ballad works more for X Factor final and an uptempo would be better for BGT.
I don't mind what single 4 is I think either OMG/Get Weird/ Hair/ADIDAS would work if they had some good performances to back it up.

I keep watching this. I don't even like the song THAT much, but the vocals are absolutely SLAYING me. I'm just worried the public won't get to hear them perform and slay it live. I feel like the impact from same performance on X Factor would propel the song into the iTunes immediately.

The couples should be relatable and emotional. By emotional I mean we look at them and we can see they have a story behind their eyes and depth to them. It sucks that this got no winter performances. But The Voice starts really soon, I'm hoping they get a slot there or during the Brit Awards. I still really feel like it's the kind of song that needs a high rates TV performance to get it high on iTunes.

Assuming Radio 1 playlist this next week or this week, 4 weeks before impact date, it means impact date falls right around Valentine's Day. Clever girls.
Also, The Voice live shows will be just a few weeks later, the Voice has been known to give really good boosts, see Sia going top 10 FINALLY last year, due to The Voice.

Do we know if the radio playlisted them yet? With some radio support soon, and the video maybe coming early next week (???) This could be a really huge hit for them, especially if they're doing as Joe predicts and having the official release around Valentine's (the 12th i think is the Friday) I could definitely see this peaking in the top 5, and maybe pushing the album up to top 3, providing people like Elvis have dropped off by then (personally think Adele will be the highest selling album Valentine's week )

I think when the music video drops, if it has some couples who represent the LGBT community in it, it could potentially catapult it into the top 5. I think it would be such a big thing for them to really show the lyrics to the song and remind people that it does relate to the lives of people who want someone they can't have because of fear. (I hope I have worded that correctly ) And that it is not just another song about going to the club and hinting for sex

I think it does, Cam. I can't remember where it was posted - it was the actor call out, but the video has three couples, a gay and interracial couple and a 'conventional' couple. I think, assuming they go with this concept it could be quite nice.

UGH i'm so happy for the girls. They should do a mash up of the Jason version and Part 2 for the BRITs just to show off their vocals. They could open with the chorus in complete acapella, go into the Jason version then close it in complete acapella! This is assuming they get a BRITs performance ....

Does anyone know if part I and part II will be combined when it comes to the official chart? I know recently that the original 'The Hills' and the one with the Eminem feature were treated as one despite entirely different opening verses. But then on the other hand, there's cases like 'Empire State of Mind' and 'Read All About It', where the separate versions were treated as different songs (there's 'Lay Me Down' too, but I'm sure that was because the John Legend version was for charity iirc).
On another note, it's so satisfying seeing this climb so dramatically with very little support so far. I can't wait to see where the video propels it to.

They should really consider a worldwide push for this. Providing they do it well, they could push this in the US and get a "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" style hit, and then that would pave the way for a possible mini NA tour to promote single 4 (Grown would work well in the US market, I think OMG would be a bit too in your face). Australia's chart always confuses me since they're normally the first to jump on things and LMLY didn't exactly blow up over there, but Jason's always been popular in AUS and the girls are touring their this year so it would make sense? Could this be their first WW smash? Nice to see it stay at #12 and the Spotify rise, just needs some decent promo and the video now. Could push the album to double plat as well by BRITs week!

This managed to stabilise well on iTunes despite the David Bowie onslaught. It's recovered extremely well and it has overtaken Coldplay (which it needed to do for the top 10 position) so once the Bowie tracks fall away completely, it should manage to get top 10 before the weekend effect knocks it out again

Edit: Annoyingly not added. I don't know why Radio 1 can't strike while the iron is hot, they took so long to support Love Me Like You, which resulted in the song having such a weird chart run and not peaking properly.

I can't see them performing anything other than 'Black Magic' at the BRITS. The Brits have full control over which song is performed by the artists unless your deemed good enough to perform what you want (Adele) and considering the amount of ballads that will be performed at the Brits, I can see them wanting uptempo performances. Yey at 'Black Magic' going to be performed twice on X-factor and Brits, give 'Black Magic' that one more week top 40.

God the BRITS surely know that Black Magic has been performed on literally every TV channel possible, even twice on The X Factor. I'm sure Simon Cowell will have a say as well. They could always do a medley of Secret Love Song and Black Magic like the LMLY/Black Magic medley from X Factor.

I think it'd get a bigger boost than Adele and Justin since Adele's album has sold 2million already and doesn't have streaming, so won't get another #1 single off this album unless she does put her album on Spotify. Justin's songs have already sold way too much to be climbing back to #1 now, as he'll have more competition of boosts on the night
I can honestly see them getting the biggest boost of be night if they did SLS, because they have an element of surprise on their side - not a huge amount of people know how well they can sing, and if they pulled off a vocally impressive performance, I can see their star power sky-rocketing.

I hope that while he's in the UK, he can do a couple of promo slots with the girls. All of them on Graham Norton would be great, and would work well especially since it's filmed in the day, so he could still run off and do his show.
They survived the weekend effect and didn't drop afterwards, they're currently #55 on Spotify. The impact week for the song is the 19th of February (found out from looking at Music Week website), so I'd say #55 on Spotify 3 and a half weeks before impact, is good.

It's unlikely. If they were #3/#4 on iTunes like last week they would have made it, but since they dipped a bit and were overtaken by a few songs, streaming will likely keep them out. I can see them hopefully making #12.
It's still on the way upwards weekly which is good because they have lots of competition with new songs now fighting to get to the top of the charts now. Impact week is definitely the 19th of Feb, so the record company are aiming for the song to hit its peak on the 26th February. I still think this'll be a big top 5 hit at least, and if they do perform it at the Brits, could be even bigger and has potential of hitting #1.

I think they have. It's stupid because SLS could really smash America, especially since 5H aren't releasing anything at the moment (although they look to soon) and Jason's a big name Stateside as well. They could really prove that their better than 1D, even if it's a top 40 that's enough. For me, LMLY was too dated. It was cute, but not enough to smash worldwide. SLS is. I don't think it's fair to speculate that Jason's team are delaying the video, as from what I've read on Popjustice it is absolutely pure speculation with not a single scrap of evidence to back that up or even suggest that could be the case. Seems to me reading that thread that some Popjustice people are just trying to pin hate on Jason for no reason. Considering what happened with Change Your Life, I think it's more likely Little Mix's team are to blame!

I agree. It might take a little longer than BM, which you'd expect as it's post album, but i could definitely see it going Gold pretty quickly, and then trickle sales taking it to Platinum a bit further down the line.

Impact date is sooner rather than later though and Airplay has been strong on Capital, Radio 1 will A-list it this week but could remove it in the following two weeks, I don't think "Airplay has just started". The video should have been dropped by now and it's causing 'Secret Love Song' to get lost while other songs are increasing especially when you look they went top #3 on iTunes with smaller airplay. They are actually ahead of 'Ex's & Oh's which defeats your argument x. I think their peak week will be BRITS but then if they perform 'Black Magic' they could fall behind other performers.
I predict a peak of #6-7, Brits performance will get them a peak of #3. Don't believe me just watch x

The airplay has only just started properly now, as in getting decent rotation - not just a couple here and there (except for Capital who playlisted the song early due to the girls stepping in and doing both nights at the JBB for them).
I agree that the video should've been released a week or so ago, but they changed the date of the premiere, to avoid it not being spoken about/not getting an effect whilst other major releases were happening (Zayn, Rihanna, Drake) and possibly to have a bigger impact as they start their promo. The only reason I'm annoyed at the video not dropping so soon, is because I know it's ready It's infuriating! Haha.
They have Graham Norton confirmed in about 10 days, that'll benefit them hugely and that will be around the time the video is getting hammered on music channels et al (providing they premier it before then 
)

To me I think they're having seemingly bad production issues with the video. It seems hey can't get something right, or somebody isn't pleased with something.
I am annoyed to see it #11/#12, but I think the main reason it's so frustrating is because it peaked SO early. For any other post-album releases, a song being just outside the top 10 iTunes and top 30 on Spotify 3 weeks before impact week would be seen as really positive. The early peak has thrown some of us off. I still think it'll go top 5 when (eventually) the video does drop, Radio 1 have had if A-listed for a week or so and the Graham Norton performance.

It's not rare to go C-B-A, you never know, but it's standard practice generally. Black Magic and LMLY did, and most of the pop on the A list, Jason, Ellie, 1D,Danny L Harle, KYgo all went C-B-A. You never know though. Major Lazer just spent like 1000 weeks on the B list.
