Personal Opinion

Thankfully most people forgot this even happened, dreadful song, they really should have turned this down but they were everywhere and the people behind it obviously really wanted them involved.

Really ? didn't know that, they really should have just said no haha

First I heard of that. It's such a bad song lol

How anything could be lower than "Holler" and "Let love lead the way" in the countdown is beyond on me but those songs obviously have their fans, not me sick2.gif . This deserved way more points.

What are your opinions ? too high ? too low ? lets discuss

Posted by: schizo_spice May 15 2019, 09:41 PM

Agree Mama is leagues ahead of Holler.

Sad that many fans don't appreciate it's perfection. I think it's respected much more by non fans though.

Posted by: Jay ☆ May 15 2019, 11:37 PM

Holler is so much better than Mama. For me it's a better song than half of their singles discography...

I'm more shocked that Headlines has done better than Mama?

Posted by: Mr.X May 16 2019, 12:13 AM

Mama is terrible.

Cover - 105 out of a possible 600

Why ? that's all I can say about this. Terrible song, terrible video. How can one of the best "pop" groups of all time, come back with something as bland and as bad as this.

What are your opinions ? too high ? too low ? lets discuss

Posted by: schizo_spice May 16 2019, 11:03 PM

Headlines wasn't a bad song.

It was just everything else about it that was bad (release schedule, lack of promo, inappropriate video)

This is another song that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to low and should be high than songs such as "holler" and "let love lead the way" in fact I think its hard for me to fault anything that it from the first two albums

What are your opinions ? too high ? too low ? lets discuss

Posted by: Jay ☆ May 17 2019, 05:43 PM

Pretty shocked at it being lower than Let Love Lead the Way ohmy.gif

Posted by: Mr.X May 17 2019, 08:19 PM

Too Much should be much higher!! It's a masterpiece and way better than LLLTW.

Points Breakdown

Cover - 0 out of a possible 600

Personal Opinion

Why does this album exist ? cry.gif I love the first 2 so much, they should have just stopped after the single "Goodbye" I just cant get into this album at all. That cover is just vile, cant stand Holler at all. And why call your album Forever when they blatently knew this wasn't the case.

What are your opinions ? too high ? too low ? lets discuss

Posted by: Mr.X May 19 2019, 11:49 AM

Forever is great and deserved much better than what people give it credit for. Terrible cover, yes. But stunning album.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever May 19 2019, 11:51 AM

Forever has its moments but it's still the album I like least from them.

Posted by: schizo_spice May 19 2019, 11:52 AM

19 years on and I still can't get over that cover being the cover. What were they thinking?

I don't like Forever much but many fans do so... Had it been an equal balance of Jerkins, Jam and Lewis and the original producers with a fun colourful spicy cover this album could've been a great one. However as it is its mostly bland forgettable dirge to my ears and the lack of unity on most of the songs is awful it's like 4 solo artists singing together not as a group.

I'd love for this not to be their final studio album.

Oh I kind of agree. For me, the best thing to do would have been:

1. An album of songs that provide a mix of sounds (like their previous ones did) with Matt & Biff, Absolute and Jerkins, Jam & Lewis, showing progressive growth. An album that still threaded on a pop base, whilst advancing their sound into more R&B territory. The album would have Holler, LLLTW, Wasting My Time, Weekend Love, If You Wanna Have Some Fun, but also Pain Proof, Right Back At Ya (original pop version), WOMAN and A Day In Your Life, with Goodbye and maybe even My Stronger Suit. This would have been released in late 1999 when they were still super popular.

2. Once that era was over, they would have grown even more into Forever territory, and released a more varied album of different styles of old school r&B, disco etc. This would have been released in early 2001.

That would have been an ideal scenario for me, personally. But I am a big fan of Forever as it is their most 'conceptual' album, and definitely one where you can see a lot of growth - lyrically and vocally.

What do you find so offensive about Holler? I never understand why people have such a problem with it. It's not even hugely R&B, that hook is pop through and through.

Let Love Lead the Way is fine, it's sweet. Probably one of their best moments vocally.

Hard to pinpoint but the whole thing really haha, the video, the look they had and I just think its a bad song especially when comparing it to anything on the first two albums.

I suppose they couldn't keep having number 1s but why did it have to be with this one cry.gif the first 2 albums are just perfection and all singles deserved to be number 1

Surprised Stop is as low as this here! What a bop wub.gif In the streaming era it's becoming one of their fastest sellers, I estimate that it will have passed a UK total of 500,000 now! Much nicer than the ~335,000 it stalled at during the physical era.

Song Selection - 132 out of a possible 600

Personal Opinion

I actually expected this to be number 1 but to be fair there isn't much difference between them for me, both are pop perfection. The only let down for me was "Spice up your life" I always felt it was the worst single between their first two albums.

What are your opinions ? too high ? too low ? lets discuss

Posted by: Mr.X May 28 2019, 10:12 AM

Spice Up Your Life is SUCH A BOP!!

Surprised this isnt higher because fans cream themselves over it. Whilst I do too, I always find Mama and Wannabe very jarring, and those two bring the album quality down A LOT to me, which is why I usually think of Spiceworld as the better album overall. Forever is third place, but I listen to it more than Spice actually mainly because of M and W lol

Wannabe not Top 5 is a surprise.

Wannabe not Top 5 is a GREAT development! It's one of their worse singles, even if it is their most iconic!

Points Breakdown

Song - 461 out of a possible 600
Video - 440 out of a possible 600
Cover - 132 out of a possible 600

Personal Opinion

I love this song and the only reason its not higher (where it belongs) is because of the cover which is where it lost most of its points, if it has similar points to the others it would have actually been Top 3.

Can you predict the Top 5 ?

I don't love the 2 Become 1 artwork but I don't mind it, it's quite a cool photo shoot.

For me, Spice Up your Life is a perfect single. Great track, great video (yes I love it, specially the moody and dark ending) and great promo overall. It's such an anthem!

The only thing I would change is that slightly racist lyric 'yellow man in Timbuktu', which I know it wasnt intentionally racist of course, but should be updated.

Quite surprised that Goodbye is that high actually, ahead of Spice Up Your Life! Nice to see it appreciated though. The artwork for it was a big change compared to previous covers, less in your face.

Spice Up Your Life for me is their ultimate package, perfection across the song, artwork & video. wub.gif

Was way too late to vote for any of this. But the right songs are the top 2 for me although I think I prefer Viva Forever.

Wannabe is iconic but not my favourite that’s what I thought would win though so I definitely underestimated that.

Their classics are on their first two for me but I did enjoy their third album (album cover aside which is one of the worst I’ve ever ever seen how the hell that was the cover I’ll never know they aged them all by at least 15 years even now in 2019 none look as old or unfashionable as on that cover)

Albums wise I think I prefer their second to their debut in terms of album tracks.

So wish I was quick enough to vote!
