Not limited to any one sport or any era, but is there a pundit you particularly enjoy listening to analyse games and matches whose knowledge of the game truly stands out as someone speaking with authority?
In the world of football, there are some pundits I find easier to listen to than others, some which are regulars and some that make occasional appearances. On Match Of The Day for example, I enjoy Gary Linekar’s presentation, and I admire him for having now been presenting the show for over 20 years! I enjoy punditry by Alan Shearer and Ian Wright, even though they haven’t played for many years now, they still bring a lot to the table when they give their own analysis on what’s good in the game and what’s not, and they speak their mind too which I think is essential for a good pundit. I’m not a fan of Martin Keown as a pundit, or Mark Lawrenson, I just don’t enjoy their remarks, and I don’t find that their opinions carry any weight in the current football climate. Most other MOTD pundits are ok, Danny Murphy and Jermaine Jenus have featured a lot this season and I don’t mind them. One other football pundit I have plenty of time for is Gary Neville, who I think many really respect because of his strong stance on racial issues in football as well as his charismatic way of giving strong criticism when it’s needed, especially with VAR issues. His knowledge of the game of football and manager tactics is very impressive. The only other sport I will mention for now is Snooker, and when I think of the game I see John Parrot and Steve Davis doing an excellent job of making most competitive matches very engaging and their review of key moments and decisions is something I enjoy to hear. Stephen Hendry is slowly coming along to be another good choice of pundit for the game, having been one of the games most successful players of all time. Also added in the option to discuss commentators too, and it’s good that Match Of The Day now has female commentators too now. John Motson for me will always have been my favourite to listen to, and I miss his voice over the games. I do quite like Jonathan Pearce’s commentary though. On Sky Sports Martin Tyler has been commentating for as long as I remember, and it’s really impressive he’s still going! |

Yes I agree in Snooker, my favourite pundits are Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry and John Parrott and recently Alan McManus. Match of the Day, John Motson was my favourite commentator. I quite like Guy Mowbray, Steve Bower, Jonathan Pearce, Simon Brotherton. And for it is Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright.
In horse racing, it would be Tony McCoy and Mick Fitzgerald used to like John Francome and Jim McGarth along with Derek Thompson was it was on Channel 4 Racing. Tennis, it would be John McEnroe. |

Neville & Carra are a good pairing on Sky Sports. I also like Roy Keane and his NO-BS approach. Not a big fan really of the MOTD pundits.
Commentators I like Peter Drury & Martin Tyler. Jon Champion is pretty good too |

Pundits - Michael Johnson is very good on the athletics,John McEnroe on tennis. In football, most of the pundits on Match Of The Day explain everything very well. In cricket,Kumar Sangakkara hasn't been a pundit for very long but is making a very good job of it. There's also the legendary Geoffrey Boycott on the radio.
Commentators - John Motson was the best football commentator. Most of the current ones are OK but some of the female commentators on Match Of The Day shriek too much and I have to turn the volume down. Steve Cram is good with the athletics and in cricket I like Nasser Hussain and David Lloyd on Sky and Jonathan Agnew on the radio. |

In Formula One, probably Mark Webber he's quite good as a pundit. Martin Brundle.

Decent watch. Disagree on Shearer, but agree that Sutton is the worst pundit of all time... |

Decent watch. Disagree on Shearer, but agree that Sutton is the worst pundit of all time... I watch a lot of HITC Sport videos on YouTube, I would recommend the video called "Last Time YOUR Club Won A Trophy (With A Twist)" it is hilarious As for a favourite sports pundit I would probably go for Roy Keane. |

Bumble on cricket.
Football pundit, Jenas and Murphy are good on MOTD. I enjoy Gary Neville on Sky Sports on Monday Night Football as especially he provided more in depth views on the defence. Commentator wise, I like Alan Smith's voice on Sky Sports. |
