I would argue that that does not work in this case. Few white students will have ever experienced regular or systemic racism and it is counter to the intent of having a space for minorities to allow anyone from the majority to put in their well-meaning but dominating opinions.

It would also very much surprise me if this was anything but a minor meeting set alongside various other anti-racism initiatives.

I would argue that any decision that affects a group, should have input *from* that group, otherwise it just generates resentment.

So you agree that all the people from the rest of the EU who were living here at the time of the referendum should have had a vote.

It’s important for people to have a space where they can share how they’ve experienced racism and I guess they figured that ensuring they didn’t even have supportive white people ready to butt in and make it about them when it isn’t was worth it.

Absolutely, and I do get this. I also know people that fall into that category of making it about them and having no self awareness in the process.

I kind of see it from both sides though. Racism can be experienced by anybody and excluding somebody from this group because they happen to be white(although....yes, I know they will be far fewer in numbers), when they may well have experienced racism and might not even want to but in and make it about them....I dunno it doesn´t quite sit right.

Don´t get me wrong, I´m not buying into the Daily Mail hyperbole at all.

Don't twist my words. mellow.gif *they* can return home if the vote goes against them - we native Brits are stuck with it though, so are much more invested.

Anyway, the other EU countries have had plenty of input in the Brexit process (some might say too much teresa.gif )

If they’ve been here 20+ years, don’t you think they might consider themselves to be home already?

Can they still not vote after 20 years here?

If they haven't become a UK citizen (possibly because they saw no need), they can only vote in local and European elections. They are unable to vote in national elections and were specifically excluded from the electorate for the referendum.

Should be noted that they were in the Franchise for the 2014 Indyref because the SNP appreciated that this would also impact on their lives and they should get a say too

You do realise that anti-white racism is a *real* thing, right? Rare perhaps, but it does exist.

Good.

A plan mostly of May's conceiving I believe. It was eminently unworkable, so they dropped it.

That authoritarian, RIDICULOUS, dictator-wannabe, pearl-clutching plan had no business becoming law. Good riddance.

You agree with me, too? funky.gif

I thought almost the only things that we agreed on was PR, and Lana Del Rey. smile.gif

The USA is one country. It has a tradition of moving around it, hence why churches are such a community thing.

Europe has different languages and cultures and the ONLY COUNTRY WITH A LOWER BUSINESS TAX RATE IN EUROPE THAN LABOUR'S POLICY IS IRELAND. Ireland has 6 million people, the UK 66 million, and the UK south is in the hot banana of Europe. So! Yeah. No.

The video is about cost of living. California is a very expensive place to live, like Lonodn, with high house prices. This is just a fact of capitalism.

Also you right wing lot like to say that about EVERY LABOUR GOVERNMENT. Annd it never happens. Thank u, next!

Liberals hold the government in Canada despite Trudeau. Minority government now so perhaps a bit of instability, I hope the NDP, led by Jagmeet Singh, who I've only ever heard good things about, can use the opportunity well to be kingmakers - from what I've read despite having a similar system to the UK, Canada really really doesn't do coalitions, so confidence and supply or short operating government.

and also I'm just glad that Canada's Conservatives didn't return to power.
