Time to take it way back to Brit's debut album, and discuss her 3rd single, Crazy. What are your thoughts on this uptempo track, and its dancetastic video

The song smashed hard pretty much everywhere, during the late summer/autumn of 1999.

In my top 10 Britney songs, I love it. Always helps me get through the hellish walk to college each morning.

It's one of her best early ones, an eternal classic.

On more than one occasion I've heard this on a night out (gay bar/club, obviously) and gone nuts to it.

Yeasss.

And that iconic green tube top. The nineties summed up in one video. Also, gotta love Melissa Joan Hart. Was she as huge overseas as she was in America?

Yeah, Sabrina The Slaying Witch was definitely a plus. An TV icon of that era joining the music icon of that era.

Definitely. 'Clarissa' and 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' were MAJOR talking points of school whilst I was growing up, and always pop up in nostalgia talks with mates now! wub.gif Particularly the latter!

This song is absolutely fantastic. One of the best pop tracks at the turn of the decade! The video is iconic too! The "STOP!" moment in the video is iconic in itself!

Flawless song, still so enjoyable to listen to 15 years later. I remember being a bit surprised that it only~ got to #5 in the UK, it deserved a higher position than that.

02 - 01 - 01 - Eiffel 65 - BLUE (DA BA DEE)
1 - NEW - 02 - S Club 7 - S CLUB PARTY
1 - NEW - 03 - Shania Twain - MAN! I FEEL LIKE A WOMAN
05 - 02 - 04 - Lou Bega - MAMBO NO 5 (A LITTLE BIT OF ...)
1 - NEW - 05 - Britney Spears - (YOU DRIVE ME) CRAZY
02 - 03 - 06 - Bob Marley Vs Funkstar De Luxe - THE SUN IS SHINING
03 - 04 - 07 - Vengaboys - WE'RE GOING TO IBIZA
04 - 06 - 08 - DJ Jean - THE LAUNCH
02 - 05 - 09 - Paul Johnson - GET GET DOWN
03 - 08 - 10 - Lolly - MICKEY

Mambo No 5 though. (I actually loved that song at the time, oops...)

Wasn't the album selling pretty decently? Still, it should've done so much better, especially considering the follow up and fourth (!) single Born To Make You Happy managed to make the top spot.

It was! If I worked it out correctly from the chart run, the album was at #19 in the same week the single reached #5, and bar one week it had been constantly within the Top 20 since its release. I wonder if people buying the album around that time were disappointed to discover that 'Crazy' on the album wasn't the same as the mix they were hearing on the radio? Heh.

What do you guys think of the album version of '(You Drive Me) Crazy' by the way? Loving you means so much more, more than anything I've ever felt before!

I MUCH prefer the remix, it gives it that same epic feel that BOMT had. It also doesn't sound near as dated as the album version.

Remix - 10/10
Album Version 8.5/10

I love the album version but the remix is far superior for everything Tyler stated.
