The BBMA performance got me thinking about what my Britney Greatest Hits would be.

Here's mine:

Nothing post-Blackout I'm afraid. It was extremely hard for me to rank them and leave so many out. If 'And Then We Kiss' doesn't count, 'BOMT' would complete my top 10.

I really should invest in Britney more, I don't actually think I've listened to any of her albums in full (bar Circus) but she has some massive tunes.


01. Sometimes (this whole top three are pretty inseparable though really and my real favourite changes all the time)
02. (You Drive Me) Crazy
03. Lucky
04. Toxic (this always used to be my favourite but as I got older, I listened to some of her older stuff and got lost in the melodies, still a huge fav though)
05. ...Baby One More Time
06. Everytime
07. Oops!... I Did It Again
08. Break the Ice (so underrated, this is one of her best tracks in years imo)
09. Circus (the only Brit album I've listened to all the way through and this has always been my favourite)
10. Till the World Ends (this is one I can't help but jam to, the ohs are infectious)

'Toxic' and 'Everytime' are leagues above the rest - what a flawless back-to-back of singles. 'Toxic' is in my top 10 songs of all time.

Gosh it's so difficult! I almost can't compared 1999-2005 Britney with 2006-2016 Britney. It's not that she's gone downhill (though a lot of her recent output is below expectation), it's just such different material. How do you compare "Till The World Ends" and "Hold It Against Me" to "Sometimes" and "...Baby One More Time"?

I'm genuinely shocked to see 'Break The Ice' appearing in almost everybody's top 10.
I've never seen the appeal of the song and would always skip it, it passed me by when it was released as a single because of the video..
Just listened to it again to see if I'd missed out on something, but I still can't hear what makes it top 10 worthy.. I'd put it near the bottom!
It's really loved though, huh?

It's the production that really does it for me. And I love the vocal arrangement. I can't really put my finger on why I like it so much. I'm so glad it's on the Vegas setlist - can't wait to see her perform it:

The intro is phenomenal. Vocally and production wise.

That pre chorus, is quite possibly my favorite from Britney, ever, as a segment. "Ooooh, looks like we're alone now // you ain't got to be scared, were grown now // imma hit defrost on ya, let's get it blazing..." Etc.

And I love her high notes through that bit. Also, thank you to Danja. Gimme More and Break The Ice are my favorite production moments in pop history.

I don't get it either, HATED it on the album (the only song worse for me was 'Why Should I Be Sad') and was utterly mortified when it was announced as a single. Plus it pretty much killed off that era as well.

That Top 4 is interchangeable tbh. 'Everytime' is no doubt her best ever ballad and is on top depending what my mood is.

'Break the Ice' is absolute perfection until, ironically, the "I like this part" and the Gary the Snail noises - the whole song is short enough as it is without all that taking up half of it!

Shout outs to 'I'm a Slave 4 U', 'Me Against the Music' 'Overprotected', 'Piece of Me' and 'Work Bitch' which all could have been my #10.

Yeah it really is the production

Production often does it for me, more so than melody. I much prefer R&B productions over Max Martin poppy productions so that also explains the rest of my top 10. And before I made the top 10 I didn't realize I like so many Britney ballads but I guess I do.



I DO have a weak spot for ILRNR but yeah...
