BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Predict: Olly Murs feat. Travie McCoy - Wrapped Up

Posted by: ThePensmith 11th November 2014, 03:19 AM

So after a few months' break, Olly Murs is back and ready to go again with 'Wrapped Up', his excellent first single from his fourth studio album 'Never Been Better' featuring Travie McCoy, released on Sunday.

Radio airplay has been very strong once again for him over the last few weeks (A list at Radio 1 and 2, Capital and Heart) and his TV promo kicks off in a big way this week with his X Factor performance on Sunday, then Graham Norton, Surprise Surprise and a few other appearances lined up.

The question is now whether or not the download rush release of Band Aid 30 (which he is on, incidentally) next Monday will prevent him from grabbing a 5th #1 and making it four lead #1 singles off four albums? I'd be lying if I said I'm not worried (I wasn't overtly keen on Band Aid 20 back in the day, not out of being uncharitable but out of not liking badly rehashed covers. Dizzee Rascal's "rap", I am looking at you) given it could go either way with that song.

Then again, I thought Girls Aloud were going to annihilate 'Troublemaker' last time so who knows? The optimist in me is hopeful he'll do it, even if just for one week.

The top 4 will turn out something like this I think.

1. Band Aid/Olly
2. Olly/Band Aid
3. Ed Sheeran
4. Clean Bandit

There's a chance that Clean Bandit could outsell him with 'Real Love', no? Their preorder has done a lot better than his. Although with all the promo that Olly is doing, he probably will edge it over them, hmm.

I have a feeling that Band Aid 30 will big. A lot of people here seem to have their doubts, but there's going to be so much hype surrounding its release that I would be surprised if it miss #1. I think both Clean Bandit & Olly will probably miss out on the top spot.

I must say I'm quite bored of Olly's single already... hopefully the X Factor performance gets me into the song again.

Clean Bandit should debut at #01 immediately and could have a strong enough lead to remain ahead of Olly! Clean Bandit has had much higher pre-orders and have remained stable within the top 75.

I'm also expecting regardless that Clean Bandit will be #01 in Tuesdays midweeks.

Out of interest how was 'Troublemaker' doing at this stage pre-order wise?

Posted by: -Jay- 11th November 2014, 04:31 AM

I didn't recall Troublemaker having a single preorder and judging by the iTunes thread prior to its week of release it seems like there wasn't one. There was an EP preorder, but that's not directly comparable. The EP was at #89 five days before release though.

(As a side note, interestingly 'Something New' by Girls Aloud did better on EP pre-orders and even shot up to #1 within the hour of its release while Olly went to #2... but of course Olly did far better with the song's individual sales, leading the way from the very start).

I thought as much, 'cause I didn't remember there being one either. Olly does have an EP for the single (it's on Amazon MP3 at the moment and, I'm assuming, everywhere else from Sunday) with a few bonus/acoustic mixes, including the non-Travie version.

There's a possibility of "Real Love" debuting at #1 and Olly getting there the next week. In a perfect world, this would happen because I love both songs.

In my perfect world, lol "Real Love" would climb to #1 this Sunday, followed by Band Aid next Sunday.
The only shame is perhaps, it doesn't look likely we'll have 2 concurrent #1's with the same song title, but of different songs.

Band aid will walk it, 400k+ or something ridiculous first week, similar to the Helping Haiti single. Olly will probably get #3

My heart wants Clean Bandit to take the top spot a far better song in my opinion. However with colossal radio support and wall to wall promo I feel sure OM will debut ahead of it. Not sure how the Band Aid 30 song will do. Between OM and Band Aid 30 for the top spot but I hope I'm wrong.

I feel like Olly is getting screwed over by the rush release of Band Aid in mid November, I mean wtf??? He hasn't got a prayer of beating it. It's gonna be terrible with that quick turnaround in recording & release but it's for charity & it has everyone on it, it's a sure fire number 1. Oh well, at least he's on it. Doubt he'll have a solo but still. He would have got number 1. I mean wow you woulda thought they'd at least edit it for a week with all those artists on it, unlucky.

lol is that some kind of joke? I'm taking that as a joke.

Posted by: Nick F1 11th November 2014, 12:31 PM

nope. Nicole for the no.1, Run is much better song than that Olly one.

Top 5, maybe 3 thinking.gif

Posted by: Dobbo 11th November 2014, 01:59 PM

number 2 behind Band Aid.

#3 behind Band Aid 30 and Clean Bandit/Jess Glynne.

Posted by: Rob S 11th November 2014, 03:15 PM

I do think Olly might grab a Tuesday midweek #1 off the back of his X factor performance but then drop off to be replaced by Band Aid 30.

Posted by: slowdown73 11th November 2014, 05:50 PM

I think this will miss no1. Its not as good as some of his other lead singles. I'm predicting no3.

Top 5? Are you familiar with Olly's sales figures? He'd get top 5 in his sleep.

3. David Guetta/Olly Murs
4. David Guetta/Olly Murs
5. Ed Sheeran
