I'm glad that the BBC has at least got some extensive coverage of the Olympics. Thought they would prioritize in renewing their rights to the Olympics.

Sky Sports will become the lone broadcaster of F1 from 2019 after agreeing a deal with Bernie to show all the races live. That means that free-to-air coverage in the UK of F1 will be no more in 2019.

Money obviously talks over viewers, I thought F1 was protected, or at least the British GP was anyway and had to be shown free to air.

The British GP will still be available on a free-to-air channel.

F1 has never been protected as an event that has to be shown on a free-to-air channel or the British Grand Prix, I don't think. Martyn.

Only one live race to be shown in 2019. Apparently Sky have paid nearly a billion according to reports for the 6 years.

That's a real shame. I always loved F1 growing up, but a combination of working on Sundays, then free-to-view TV losing half the races made me drift away from it, and I feel this will be the final nail in the coffin of my love of the sport (I don't have Sky and wouldn't pay for it).

With the amount of money that is involved in sport TV rights.

Would you rather have highlights of coverage on free-to-air or no coverage available at all on free-to-air TV?

An interesting article, I read yesterday about Channel 4 possibly being interested in broadcasting Champions League matches free-to-air in an partnership with BT Sport.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/0...all-first-time/

We'll see what happens there could just a rumour.

Hoping that Sky & BT may decide to sublet the matches to a terrestrial TV channel in ITV or Channel 4.

BT Sport extend their rights to the Champions League and Europa League until 2021 in a deal worth £1.2 billion.

It will give BT exclusive rights to the Champions League to live games and highlights meaning that ITV will not have weekly highlights.

6pm kick off is fine as long as it's not applied to matches taking place in the UK. Can see Trafford Council, Manchester City Council, TfGM and GMP heavily objecting to that start time for the two Manchester clubs.
