With the Eastenders thread currently at 49 pages, it should reach the maximum before the live week next week soooo I think we should use the current special Live Week thread as the next normal Eastenders thread as it will coincide with next week. Then we can change the thread title to just 'Eastenders' once live week is over!

I was thinking maybe would could a weekly or monthly ratings prediction game? Similar to the one in the chart forums.
Maybe have 10 selected programmes for each one, and if the first one proves popular, we could continue. If not, then don't bother doing another prediction game. For example next week: 01. EastEnders [Thursday at 7:30pm]: XX.Xm viewers 02. EastEnders Live [Friday at 8pm]: XX.Xm viewers 03. Broadchurch [Monday at 9pm]: XX.Xm viewers 04. The Great Comic Relief Bake Off [Wednesday at 8:30pm]: XX.Xm viewers 05. Emmerdale [Thursday at 6:45pm]: XX.Xm viewers 06. Death In Paradise [Thursday at 8:30pm]: XX.Xm viewers 07. Gogglebox [Friday at 9pm]: XX.Xm viewers 08. The Million Pound Drop [Friday at 8pm]: XX.Xm viewers 09. Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway [Saturday at 7pm]: XX.Xm viewers 10. The Casual Vacancy [Sunday at 9pm]: XX.Xm viewers Bonus Questions 1. Which will be the highest rating programme of the week? 2. Will ITV drop below 1 million viewers during any primetime (7-10pm) slot this week? What do you think? |

Yeah there's no harm in giving it a go! I think fortnightly or monthly might be best as I think it would run out of programmes/interest if it was weekly. Good idea to start it now too so it includes Eastenders Live week!
Is Gogglebox back next week then? Yey! |

Apparently, I just quickly browsed the TV schedules on radiotimes.com for potential programmes and it was listed on Friday. I'm surprised it's back so quickly! I'll post it up later then. I'm just not sure about how to do the points scoring system. Obviously the bonus questions are straight forward, but I'm not sure about the main predictions. |

Max of 10 points for each, taking off one point for every 100,000 out? So basically a million each way gives at least one point.

Have you put in a plug for your ratings game in the monthly chat thread in the Lounge? It might be worth it to make sure people know it exists.

That looks fine to me.
It might be worth putting it up on Tuesday with an invitation to speculate on the awards, and then change the text on Wednesday evening to mention a discussion of the show. |

What would you think about doing a 'Least Fave' poll for something? Maybe serial dramas (i.e. EastEnders, Corrie, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Neighbours, Home and Away, Doctors, Casualty and Holby City). Or maybe a favourite presenters rate, we can ask for nominations first then have the rate?

I really like the favourite presenters rate idea!
I'm not always the biggest fan of Least Favourite polls though, I have to admit but you can try it out if you want! |

Hahaha, I might do a Doctor Who Companions rate after that ie everyone from Rose, and probably including those who have been in at least two episodes or served as the companion in that episode e.g. Kylie's character. Hopefully, the timing will be so the results can occur after my exams have finished.
btw is Cameron still planning on taking over the Eastenders character rate? |

RE: The TV Ratings Prediction Game
It's becoming quite difficult to keep up a weekly game, as shown by me not setting up this week's in time. Plus, the participation dropped last week. So I think it might be more beneficial to instead have a fortnightly game (I would've said monthly but the TV schedules aren't released so far in advance) and change the focus to consolidated figures, rather than overnight figures. That way we can try and increase the interest in the BARB ratings thread as well. Plus, I'm finding everyone over-predicting most of the time, so people might score more points with consolidated ratings. Let me know what you think Frooty doll Alternatively, we could try one-off threads for certain TV events or special shows. For example, a prediction thread for the Election Night or a hyped TV show comeback like Game of Thrones or series finales like Ordinary Lies. Again, let me know what you think your Frootiness |

I think it might be good to do a mix of both! Have the predictions thread and the one-off specific predictions thread for the big events/returns as well.
For the predictions thread, fortnightly does sound like a good idea, as there is then more of a choice for programmes to predict and I know it's hard to keep up momentum hosting a weekly game like that. I would suggest the possibility of using alternating if we were to keep it as a weekly game, but it's not the best time for me now with exams! We can see how fortnightly goes and I can step in for now if you ever need it. As for using it to predict the BARB ratings instead, they are harder to predict but if most of us are overestimating and if it brings more interest in that thread, it sounds like a good idea! |

I'd be happy to have both, having the one-off threads might help increase interest into the regular game.
I've been given it some more thought and I think BARB would be better because it means there's much longer for people to submit predictions since they're released after one week to the closest Monday. I'll most likely set up the first fortnightly game next week to give me time to think about the format change. With the one-off threads, I'll set up the first one now for the Masterchef Final on Friday. It might be a good indication of whether it will work. |
