So do I! Holiday did well enough in the end for when it was released but it would be nice to see him getting a big hit again. The clip does sound very promising

Posted by: Bjork 4th February 2021, 09:04 AM

Holiday was such a mis-step imho terrible song

Call me by your name has been on YT for ages

Yeah only a short snippet he posted on Twitter a while ago though

Posted by: Dan17F1 4th February 2021, 04:48 PM

If the advert is premiering on Sunday is this out tomorrow? Or does it not have a release date yet?

Posted by: Juan Carlos 9th March 2021, 09:14 PM

Out March 26. Available to presave.

Posted by: LMLou 26th March 2021, 08:10 AM

This is SO good! Really hope it can be a hit for him its such a bop

Posted by: Tombo 26th March 2021, 08:12 AM

This is really good, he’s been on a roll with his recent releases

Posted by: blacksquare 26th March 2021, 08:24 AM

Death dropping onto the devil from a pole and giving him a lapdance?

Iconic behaviour

Posted by: Jade 26th March 2021, 08:48 AM

That video is incredible cheeseblock.png the song has really clicked for me after a couple of listens as well, this is more like it *.*

Posted by: Bjork 26th March 2021, 09:16 AM

already getting big Spotify support
#2 on NMF, and insta-added to HH and also very high on TTH

Posted by: ✖ leww ✖ 26th March 2021, 09:48 AM

Great song, great video, great great great! 🥳. Really hoping this can do big things for him!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th March 2021, 10:00 AM

Love it, that video is hot.

This needs to smash.

Posted by: Klumzee 26th March 2021, 10:18 AM

Loving this! That video is so stunning and the track itself is a standout! Love the Latin guitar and it's really catchy heart.gif Hoping it can do things commercially too as it's great to have a black queer man achieve great things and it's a demographic with very little representation in the mainstream musical world!

Posted by: George.keh 26th March 2021, 11:00 AM

Wow he’s just brilliant isn’t he

Posted by: Chemistry 26th March 2021, 11:37 AM

The video is absolutely sensational! Wow. I really hope this is big for him, not just because of the song or video, but mostly about the importance of the video- seeing queer people like this is still so rare on a mainstream level, especially when it comes to black queer people.

Posted by: shadow2009 26th March 2021, 12:02 PM

I love this guy and would love him to get another hit but 'Panini' is still the best song he's done.

Agreed

Posted by: Liаm 26th March 2021, 05:20 PM

God this is FAB, I think it might be my fave by him so far?! I really hope this is huge for him, he so so deserves it.

Posted by: Jade 26th March 2021, 05:27 PM

Same Liam! I loved 'Old Town Road' and 'Rodeo' but this is proving to be so addictive already wub.gif the latin guitar / hand clap style in the production gives me slight 'MALAMENTE' vibes which could only ever be a good thing. The lyrics, video and letter to his 14-year-old self on social media (crazy when I remember that he's still only 21 now!!) have me rooting for him in a massive way. I echo everything Chemistry said about representation <3

Posted by: Sour Candy 26th March 2021, 05:43 PM

The song is pretty lazy, but the video is brill, hope it does decently.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 26th March 2021, 10:02 PM

This is just WOW. A moment for sure for so many reasons .

Posted by: Jαsє 26th March 2021, 10:16 PM

THAT VIDEO. I need to take a cold shower.

Posted by: Sour Candy 27th March 2021, 11:42 AM

Only 9.5 million views on Youtube... Not so sure, if it's a real pop culture moment, more like a great niche release. The video, I mean, the song still sucks a bit.

Posted by: Calum 27th March 2021, 11:46 AM

Honestly this is just SO good cheeseblock.png I was ready to be disappointed the way he was hyping it so much on Twitter, but oh my. The video is EVERYTHING too and it's so good seeing straight white people getting so pressed about it.

Posted by: J00prstar 27th March 2021, 12:37 PM

This video is fabulous.

Finally I have the experience that straight people have watching music videos. (How unfair!)

Posted by: Iz 💀 29th March 2021, 05:49 AM

Song is great, best thing I've heard from him since Old Town Road, Lil Nas embarassing every fundamentalist moralist in the world getting hung up over the idea of satanic imagery appearing in popular culture, just as great.

Literal 'think of the children' numbskulls coming out over it.

Posted by: dannjohn 29th March 2021, 08:24 AM

good for nas. this song was always going to be a hit... but if he'd just done a cute, romcom type video, it'd have been blissfully ignored so doing a hyper "controversial" video elevates it to a new territory.

Posted by: Bjork 29th March 2021, 09:29 AM

Now the video is up to #1 on UK Youtube but not with massive views (yet)
but the Youtube list at kworb is always so weird, not sure how reliable it is... right now there is a Spanish version of Dance Monkey top 20 in the UK, which I find it hard to believe biggrin.gif

Posted by: troylovesmusic 29th March 2021, 04:18 PM

The video version is now out to download/stream

I’m dead at him calling it ‘Satan’s Extended version’ laugh.gif

Posted by: Bjork 29th March 2021, 09:03 PM

he did a Genius video talking about the song too

Posted by: Jade 29th March 2021, 10:32 PM

^ Ooh I hadn't clocked that the "a dime and a nine, it was mine every week" lyric was a reference to 'Old Town Road's 19 week Billboard reign, makes so much sense now!

Really glad that the whole song from the music video is on streaming now <3 'Satan’s Extended version' though *_* laugh.gif

Posted by: jakewild 29th March 2021, 11:04 PM

bopping to this in my satan shoes

Posted by: Envoirment 30th March 2021, 12:16 AM

This is so good and I love the video. It has over 37.5 million views. ohmy.gif It's doing huge numbers on youtube!

Posted by: uhsting 30th March 2021, 11:01 AM

Normally hip hop and R&B ain't my style but this is really strong. The lyrics hit really hard for me and I love the effort there, and the music video is very controversial and it got me thinking deeply over the last few days with the metaphor and imagery, which the message came across really well, supported by the PR on Twitter as well. Overall, this is a genius work and gets us to rethink about how we define religion, let alone sadly the terrible homophobia we are still receiving on day-to-day basis despite advances in legislation on LGBTQIAPK+ rights.

Posted by: Hayzayy 30th March 2021, 12:26 PM

Great song!
He's such a king wub.gif

Posted by: Scene 30th March 2021, 06:08 PM

I'm obsessed with both the song and video. A gay watershed moment. drama.gif

Posted by: The. Snake. 30th March 2021, 07:50 PM

This is a good tune

Posted by: Doctor Blind 31st March 2021, 12:07 AM

Yeah this is actually quite impressive, enjoying it a lot - definitely feel like it reflects his personality and his confidence, he's becoming a really strong role model for young people.

Bonus marks for the video and how much it's winding up all the right people, haha!!

It's stunning in isolation!

Posted by: Stu1985 31st March 2021, 04:33 PM

This slaps so hard, on repeat!

Posted by: troylovesmusic 31st March 2021, 04:35 PM

Looking like he will debut at number 1 next week on Billboard . He has quite a big gap over Justin in the early predictions so unless something drastic happens I think he’s got it

Posted by: J00prstar 31st March 2021, 05:07 PM

I kinda didn't realise it had a shot at actually being a smash hit!

Posted by: Bré 31st March 2021, 07:09 PM

The early predictions from Talk of the Charts on Twitter had him debuting at #5 but that was based on very early numbers and he's picked up quickly since then (I see they have now posted a new tweet saying he is the 'favourite' to be #1 next week). I wonder how long he'll manage to stay at the top this time, it already looks like it's going nowhere any time soon.

Posted by: DalekTurret32 31st March 2021, 11:07 PM

'f*** it, let's ride'

(fiddle comes in)

It's in the music video version, but it's still my fave part

Posted by: Jade 2nd April 2021, 05:12 PM

The official UK #1 this week cheeseblock.png I'm ecstatic!

Posted by: JackTheeStallion 2nd April 2021, 06:30 PM

This feels like such an important #1, someone unapologetically gay and being a rapper/poc - this will be so important for young queer kids. He should be so so proud! Aside of all of that, the song is a bop!!

Posted by: Calum 2nd April 2021, 06:33 PM

SO deserved, incredibly happy for him wub.gif cheeseblock.png

Posted by: Tombo 2nd April 2021, 06:38 PM

I’ve just seen the video for the first time and it is amazing

cheer.gif

Posted by: Stu1985 2nd April 2021, 11:19 PM

Well deserved! Such a BOP

Posted by: Bjork 3rd April 2021, 09:43 AM

the funny thing is that I knew the song for months as it leaked ages ago (last Summer?)
but never ever in my wildest dreams I imagined it would be a #1 debut, not even a #1
I loved it from first listen but always sounded like a number #23 or something to me

Posted by: LMLou 3rd April 2021, 09:50 AM

Missed the show yesterday but so shocked and so happy this got to #1 already! Not only is a great song but also so monumental for a song like this to be so big

Posted by: Scene 3rd April 2021, 11:20 AM

Yes monumental indeed. A black gay rapper landing at #1 with an overtly gay song and video is a real moment for the queer history books. Lil Nas X has hopefully kickstarted a bit of a movement as far as gay representation and visibility are concerned (in music at least).

Posted by: troylovesmusic 5th April 2021, 08:54 PM

Officially number 1 on Billboard congrats to him biggrin.gif

Posted by: Scene 5th April 2021, 10:11 PM

cheer.gif What an amazing feat and totally unexpected!

Posted by: Dobbo. 6th April 2021, 10:29 AM

Liking this a lot more on the second listen, passed me by first time (a bit like Holiday did).

Posted by: dannjohn 7th April 2021, 08:02 AM

wonder if he'll receive the same backlash as Rita Ora for that party of his wink.gif

Posted by: Bré 7th April 2021, 05:00 PM

Yeah because Lil Nas X is such an uncontroversial figure that no one would ever dare to give backlash x

(In all seriousness though yeah that's not a good look for him - unfortunately this is quite a recurring theme among TikTok stars)
