BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dance _ The Prodigy - No Tourists

Posted by: lewistgreen 30th December 2017, 02:54 PM

Earlier this year, The Prodigy signed a new deal with BMG where they will continue to release music through their Take Me To The Hospital label. They have since confirmed that their seventh studio album, and first in 3 years, will be coming in early 2018.

Intriguing! As much as I loved TDIME at the time I don't find myself returning to many songs from it aside from the title track. Wonder if this will be an even further departure from their signature sound.

Posted by: Stu1985 30th December 2017, 07:14 PM

Hyped! I’m so ready for this!

Posted by: Lenny 30th December 2017, 07:37 PM

Looking forward to this!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 30th December 2017, 08:59 PM

I didn't really like the last album aside from the title track and 'Nasty'. sad.gif It was such a disappointment.

Posted by: lewistgreen 10th February 2018, 04:58 PM

They've been announcing a lot of tour/festival dates recently so hopefully this means a music announcement is also imminent *.*

Just look back at their past videos, I don't think anyone ever has a clue what's going on. All a part of the madness!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 19th July 2018, 07:54 PM

It's decent enough. I'm not sure it really has enough to keep me coming back to it though.

Posted by: Bré 19th July 2018, 08:20 PM

Nice to have a bit of a change of sound from them compared to the last two albums, liking the classic rave style vox *.*

Was totally off my radar that they had new music coming out until I saw that 10 second clip on my YouTube recommendations oop

Posted by: BridgeCow 19th July 2018, 08:53 PM

Yeah this is a banger

Posted by: Dobbo 19th July 2018, 08:58 PM

How I've missed their abrasive sound wub.gif breath of fresh air in the current scene. Obviously they are finished as singles band but I just hope they can continue this fantastic run of #1 albums especially on an independent label!

Posted by: dandy* 19th July 2018, 09:28 PM

I do like this but I also think it's missing that something extra that would make it stand up to most of their back catalogue.

Posted by: Midge 19th July 2018, 10:20 PM

Enjoyed this on first listen; just sounds fresh compared to a lot of what's out there. Not sure if it'll go on to be a Prodigy classic but it'll certainly do! "Nasty" never turned into a classic for me, although I liked it, it felt like a bit like they were doing a parody of themselves.

Posted by: Dobbo 19th July 2018, 10:22 PM

The Day Is My Enemy is the only song from their last album that stands up to their classics for me. I enjoyed Nasty, Wild Frontier & Rebel Radio initially but never really return to them anymore.

Posted by: Stu1985 19th July 2018, 10:53 PM

Just love this banger. So glad they’re back!

Posted by: lewistgreen 8th August 2018, 07:50 PM

Friction Remix of Need Some1 is out today. Yet to hear it but I reckon it'll be decent enough.

Posted by: photografdemon 9th August 2018, 06:28 AM

It is. The whole aggressive and disturbing Prodigy vibe meets dnb beats. I kinda like it despite the original was not my cup of tea.

Posted by: lewistgreen 11th August 2018, 10:48 AM

Posted by: Hans 11th August 2018, 11:02 AM

Now I've heard the Friction remix, damn it feels like it needed it! There's life!

Posted by: danG 11th August 2018, 11:55 AM

Friction definitely improves it but I'm still not fully sold.

Posted by: lewistgreen 22nd September 2018, 08:32 PM

Light Up The Sky is confirmed as track 2 on the album which is now likely to be the next single.

When does that get its premiere?

No idea. It's only been revealed as an album track for now.

Light Up The Sky is out tomorrow at 5:30pm. Premiering from 5pm on BBC Radio 6 Music!

Enjoying this one even more than 'Need Some1' *.*

Posted by: Stu1985 28th September 2018, 08:02 PM

Yeah loving this.

Bring on the album!

Posted by: Bré 28th September 2018, 09:57 PM

Ngl I was really worried from the generic as hell title that this was gonna be something basic and uninspiring but idk why I am worried about that from The Prodigy of all people. Agreed this is even better than 'Need Some1', the use of reggae-style vocals is v old skool The Prodigy *.* need to be more hyped for this album xx

Track 5 from the album has been confirmed as Fight Fire With Fire featuring Ho99o9

QUOTE
‘No Tourists’, has been written, produced and mixed over the last year by Liam Howlett in his studio in London’s Kings Cross. Though this is – Liam notes – “very much a band album”. Maxim and Keef Flint are very much present and correct, each supplying their legendary vocal skills on this, the Essex machine’s seventh studio record. Yes, there are one or two collaborators, but fundamentally this is the sound of the central Prodigy three, bringing their riotous sound to audiences old and new, two decades since they changed the face and sound of electronic music with epochal album ‘The Fat Of The Land’. Expanding on the general shape of the project, Liam says: “this album is equally aggressive as the last records – but in a different way." A musician, songwriter and studio maestro, Howlett is as rigorous and righteously Up For It as he was when he formed his 28-years-young band. He explains that, as ever, the new songs “are built to play live. That’s the one thing that brings everything together. I couldn’t write this music unless it has that outlet on stage. That helps write the music. This is what I do it for: the live thing. And until we feel like we can’t do it, or the buzz goes, we won’t stop."

It’s that sense of do-or-die commitment that is reflected in the album title. “To us, ‘No Tourists’ is ultimately about escapism and the want and need to be derailed. Don’t be a tourist - there is always more danger and excitement to be found if you stray from the set path.”

I prefer this track out of all of them but I won't buy the album.
I'll be a grumpy old bast*rd and listen to Satyricon by Meat Beat Manifesto instead.

Posted by: Rosemary 🔪 8th November 2018, 05:13 PM

I dunno why but this album didn’t excite me at all. It kind of sounded like a parody of their back catalogue... not bad, but nothing special?

Posted by: lewistgreen 4th December 2018, 06:08 PM

Conrank Remix of Timebomb Zone is out today

Posted by: Christmasteve201 4th December 2018, 10:28 PM

Wonder if this will be the next single?

Posted by: DexTheHalls 5th December 2018, 01:41 PM

Oops was about to ask if the rest of the album was as good as "Are You Here?" then realised that's by The Presets not The Prodigy :lol

Posted by: Christmasteve201 5th December 2018, 01:45 PM

Listened to this today again and I find it quite upbeat and good 7/10!

Brilliant choice - 'Timebomb Zone' is probably my favourite song from the album now *.* got round to listening to it last weekend.

Posted by: Christmasteve201 7th December 2018, 06:06 PM

Yeh it's be a good choice - thought they'd go for Champions of London!

Posted by: lewistgreen 2nd March 2019, 02:35 PM

Posted by: Bré 4th March 2019, 01:32 PM

^ this being released has just become sadly ironic today, especially as Keith had vocals on this song... sad.gif

I guess this is likely to be the last album they ever release now, I hope I'm wrong but I don't see them being able to carry on without one of their core members.

Probably wouldn’t have revisited this album if it wasn’t for the tragic news. Sounds much better a few months on, having familiarised myself with some of the tracks in their own right.

"We Live Forever" has stood out in particular today - hadn’t realised it was the new single either. Haunting.

Posted by: Stu1985 4th March 2019, 03:52 PM

Such sad news sad.gif

Posted by: Bjork 4th March 2019, 05:07 PM

I saw them live a few years back and they were great
They did a sorta greates hits live but was very entertaining

Not sure about the band future but they could still go on

Dance chart:

Albums:

#5 Experience
#7 Invaders Must Die
#11 The Day Is My Enemy
#19 Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned
#29 World's On Fire (Live)

(dance albums is download sales only which is why TFOTL is ahead of TL)

Posted by: Bré 9th March 2019, 02:23 PM

Under awful circumstances but it's great to see 'Firestarter' returning so high, I really didn't think it'd even be able to go top 100 under the current chart rules let alone as high as #58 (would have been top 40 if it weren't on ACR quite possibly? although it would have been more download-based than most other songs around it so maybe not). Their first appearance in the singles chart since 'Nasty' scraped in at #98 in 2015, and before that 'Invaders Must Die' scraping a re-entry at #99 in mid 2010. 'Breathe' can't have been too far off getting a top 100 re-entry as well, not that we'll ever know that for sure. And of course fantastic for them to have 3 entries in the albums top 40 too and two more sneaking in the low top 100.

Positions on the singles sales chart:
#8 Firestarter
#18 Breathe
#37 Out Of Space
#44 Smack My Bitch Up
#50 No Good (Start The Dance)
#56 Voodoo People
#69 Omen
#86 Warrior's Dance

Posted by: danG 9th March 2019, 02:33 PM

Judging by the songs around them in the dance chart, 'Firestarter' would've been top 40 and 'Breathe' top 65 (possibly top 60) if they weren't on ACR.

Posted by: Steve201 10th March 2019, 10:22 AM

No Tourists sounding amazing for me again, Timebomb Zone is the song I'm currently listening to most(their last single) but I shall add We Live Forever soon!

Posted by: lewistgreen 13th April 2019, 03:36 PM

Fight Fire With Fire / Champions Of London got a double 7" release today for Record Store Day.

Posted by: pippa 5th August 2019, 06:27 PM

I would be expecting some final release to come from the Prodigy at some point of this year end.
There is likely to be many unreleased tracks lying in the vaults somewhere.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 20th August 2019, 10:33 PM

The Prodigy are currently in the studio recording new music, will be interesting to see how it sounds with Keith now sadly gone.

Posted by: pippa 21st August 2019, 03:39 PM

It is likely Keith will be on the album on at least some of the tracks.
