Thought it'd be interesting to do this to see how internationally diverse the UK's tastes are! The answer... not very tongue.gif

Thanks for this. The list of countries is indeed rather short. When was there last a single by an Irish act in the chart?

This is actually a little more variety than I was expecting tbh! Also nice to see that UK acts are keeping up with US ones.

Would be interesting to see a list of this for previous years to see if it's become more UK/US dominated lately or if it's always been like this.

I'd say it's become very UK/US dominated within the past few years. Earlier in the decade when there were more dance tracks charting you had people from the length & breadth of Europe all getting top 40 hits.

This time 5 years ago, I'm certain Sweden would have been 3rd.

Must've missed her out! I did add Paul & Guetta though so all it does is push America up an artist.

Shouldn't they count towards the country they're raised in or in the very least to both the UK and the country they're raised in? I would still consider myself Icelandic even if I moved to the UK tomorrow and lived there for 5 years.

These two were difficult to know how to categorise, neither gave me a definitive nationality but both seemed to be collaborating with British artists and predominantly touring in Britain/doing well in Britain so I went for there. If Au/Ra decided to call herself an Antiguan singer then I'd change it but everywhere I've looked said 'born in Ibiza and raised in Antigua' and not saying she's 'from' either. Mabel is described as Swedish-British but as I said above her focus appears to be on the UK music scene.

Years & Years could count for Australia as well, as Mikey Goldsworthy is Australian.
