Hot rumours circulating that Disney are going to announce a 4th film.
Good, bad or not fussed?
I see no reason why this should be anything other than GOOD news. The first three are all so amazing and there is so much scope for storylines as, let's face it, a toy's world can go wherever they want it to.
I know there will be those who wish to preserve the trilogy but I'm capable of forgetting all about the fourth film's existence if it isn't up to scratch.
The third film was the perfect ending. Why do they have to keep milking it?
I hope it doesn't tarnish. Toy Story 3 was beyond any of my expectations and was a perfect and fitting ending. Where could they go from there?
Has it not already been confirmed?
But anyway, definitely my most anticipated film right until the second it gets released. I can not fault the first three and it's my favourite EVER trilogy of films.
"Milking" seems like such a weird word to use for it Griff. It's only milking when they run out of ideas yet continue to churn them out, which considering #3 was the strongest they don't seem to have just yet. In fact i'd say they've improved leaps and bounds for each installment.
BRING ON 4
LEAVE IT. PLEASE. It's the perfect trilogy. Literally perfect.
Pixar need to get back to the original story telling they were known for.
the trilogy was absolutely flawless. FLAWLESS. do they wanna risk it????
already having a fit at the thought of monsters uni being awful don't put me through this too!!!
HAVE FAITH PEOPLE.
I just need more classic moments like this in my life:
I felt #3 was necessary as it explored what happened when the young boy is no more, I can't see where they'd take it from here which isn't repeating what they've already done before.
I'm rather passionate about this because Toy Story WAS my childhood and I couldn't bear to see it tarnished its also one of those rare flawless trilogies, Pixar haven't exactly been on top form lately so I wouldn't trust them with this...
idek if it's credible but if it's true, idk whether to be SO excited or SO devastated @ the thought of it being bad?
Pixar have rubbished reports of Toy Story 4. There won't be one anytime soon according to the official source.
I think 'Toy Story 4' would have to happen in about another 17 years if it was to happen. I'm not keen on the idea of (another) sequel tbh, they just need to get some fresh films out in the meantime.
The only film in need of another sequel is 'Cars'.
1: Because it's their biggest film in terms of merchandise - they need to get more toy cars out there!
2: Because I love it.
They need to make an Incredibles sequel. It's the only way forward for Pixar.
Brave was such a let-down, but only when compared to the rest of Pixar's efforts. It just lacked the heart and drive of the likes of Nemo, Toy Story etc. It was still a fun watch though.
Before watching Toy Story 3 I put myself in the "it's THE END :'( " mood. And now they are bringing it back from the dead. WHY
No it's going to be like what Taken 2 is to Taken... LOL
SO today/yesterday Pixar announced instead of a full length feature they're doing a 30 minute short film to air on ABC in the fall.
The gang are all back.. surely if it's well received it can't be too long before a 4th film is confirmed.
Is that "halloween special"? I think I read something about it earlier. A 4th film will happen I reckon. Especially if, as you say, this does well!
Did anyone watch 'Toy Story of Terror'? It was great!
Haven't got round to seeing it yet, my dad thought it was a new one coming out in the cinema.
So officially announced today.
June 2017.
Good, bad, amazing? I'm sure this news will divide everyone.
The first 3 films are all incredible! Toy Story could easily have been kept as an extremely strong trilogy. Not sure whether another movie is entirely necessary after the ending of Toy Story 3, so I have reservations about it.
Definitely a "wait and see" scenario! It's certainly true that there were huge reservations about Toy Story 3, and it turned out to be fantastic.
A bit crazy to think these movies will be stretched out over 22 years. I was only 7 for the first movie and I'll be fast approaching 30 for the 4th.
Mixed feelings, very mixed. This is one of the few almost completely flawless trilogies and one that is very close to my heart and associate with my childhood as a whole, I really, really don't wanna see that tarnished and become a cash cow for Pixar, who in turn I wouldn't like to see constantly rehashing past glories (which is not to say they're declining but I don't think Brave and Cars 2 were exactly shining moments, particularly coming after Toy Story 3/WALL-E/Up).
I also have doubts of exactly what they're gonna do this time to make this one stand out - each of the last three tackled a new theme with the last one ending quite aptly at growing up and didn't feel like it needed an ending as they were starting their cycle of 'new owner' again.
Of course, it could be amazing and I'll end up crying like I did when I first saw it at 5 years old and it'll take away any doubts I have, but for now, I'm remaining skeptical.
It'll probably still be an amazing film but it was still a perfect trilogy with the perfect ending which didn't scream for a sequel. It's a shame really.
Mixed feelings as for now but who knows? Never thought the third one would be great and it wsa so so good! I've got high hopes, just pray it doesn't tarnish the brand.
Mixed feelings.
After a huge gap between 2 and 3, I was very anxious about Toy Story 3 ruining the other 2. But it turned out to be arguably the strongest of the 3. It is such an exceptional trilogy. I don't think I can think of another franchise to have 3 films THAT strong - they have 100,100 and 99& on Rotten tomatoes (who that 1% is needs to have a look in the mirror because they know nothing). Even with Star Wars, Jedi is seen as a weaker link.
But it COULD be excellent, and if it's as amazing as the rest - which it easily could be with the same talent involved, I'm all for it. I just don't want something that will tarnish the legacy of Toy Story. It's hard to know when you're going to jump the shark.
I'm just going to hold my judgement until we see it tbf. Exactly as eveyrone has said, I thought "eek why is this even happening" when the third one came out but I think it's the best one of all! That could happen again but I think it'd be exceptional luck if it did that If it's of the same high quality as the first three, I'm all for it.
Could this be one sequel too far possibly?
I hope to be proved wrong with this.
That..............sounds wholly unappealing
Damn Pixar what happened smdh
£££ happened
Too busy being greedy by making lazy, popular sequels now! I really hope 'Inside Out' and 'The Good Dinosaur' smash all the sequels out of the park, so they can get back to being original!
I did quite like this quote in the article:
Even though a romantic comedy doesn't sound great, this is still my most anticipated movie and I am so so so excited for it.
Toy story 3 is my favourite film of all time
I'm kinda dying because I kinda expected a better look at ther lives with Bonnie this time
Merged topics as just found out there were 2
This is he first I've heard about it. I wonder how they can pull off this one if it happens
Now a June 2018 release with Pixar confirming a few release dates today.
But no worries as we have Cars 3 in June 2017 !!!!11
Every year except 2014 we have had a Pixar film. Having two this year makes up for having none last year
Confirmed date of June 21st 2019! Gahhhh.
It really should be left alone.
Yes it was the one where they were at the hotel.
This will be released on 21st June 2019!
"Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019."
Trailer doesn't give much away, like the TS3 teaser did, but I'm really excited for this! Josh Cooley is a really exciting director who will undoubtedly become one of Pixar's big names in the next few years.
The film's also written by some of Pixar's best: John Lasseter (really disappointed about what he did, but he's an extremely taleted guy), Pete Docter (director of Monsters Inc, Up and Inside Out), Andrew Stanton (director of Finding Nemo, Walle and Finding Dory) and Lee Unkrich (director of Toy Story 3 and Coco).
Is that a fork with pipe cleaner hands?
Excited for this and I’m sure it’ll be one of the biggest movies of 2019 (#2 behind Avengers) although it’s a bit weird that a plastic fork that obviously been crafted by a small kid can talk etc. Was it alive before it was given appendages? Has cutlery always been alive in this world?
Kind of sounds like a mix between Woody vs Buzz from the first movie and the search for Woody in Al’s Toy Barn from the second
OH I forgot Lion King!!! Instantly all hype for this & Avengers 4 combined has transferred to that tbh
I am very much looking forward to it but I am very skeptial of it at the same time due to 3 tieing the series up so well so I hope I am not disappointed.
Yeah, Disney are going to have a great year next year, they have:
Dumbo
Aladdin
Toy Story 4
The Lion King
Frozen 2
They also have Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Artemis Fowl, which I'm really excited about.
And the last episode of the new Star Wars trilogy x
Anyway I like the teaser and I'm still beyond hyped for it *.*
Oh and frozen 2 HOW did I forget 😂😭😮
Cor Disney are gonna have a massive 2019
Bo Peep is returning *.*
I remember her being mentioned in the plot when the movie was first announced.
Apparently she was sold after the second, and in part of this move they have to find her.
Teaser trailer!
YEEES!
Tbh, I feel like they could do a million Toy Story's and it'd end up being an ok thing to do!
Hmmmm. I love the characters and Toy Story 3 is one of my favourite movies ever, but I'm not feeling hyped about this one. The last one ended so perfectly, I wanted them to just leave it there and maybe just do a few more of the short movies like The Land That Time Forgot or Toy Story of Terror, as they were amazing.
There were parts of that trailer that looked like rehashes from the previous movies. I'm really disappointed that this isn't making me excited at all.
This looks so good!
Who is the young boy in the trailer... because that’s certainly not the Andy I know x
It's a good trailer, it's a nice touch focusing on home made toys, but yeah there are parts that look like straight rehashes of Toy Story 2 so I'm not yet quashed of any doubts.
The thing is I'm sure it will be a good film, I trust Pixar with that, but it's a question of whether it's NECESSARY, which clearly wasn't the case with Monsters University and Finding Dory even though they were solid films.
Bo Peep could she to be trying to the one that looks to be the Stinky Pete, Lotso version 3.0 of Toy Story 4?
Latest trailer! Only 4 weeks to go
Oh I so want this to be great but that trailer doesn't fill me with hope! There's no hint of a deeper meaning there at all.
The first reviews for this are out and it's currently 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
I seriously have no idea how they've apparently made a satisfying follow-up after '3' was such a perfect way to end the franchise but I cannot wait to see it. I should never have doubted Pixar!
They have previously been reluctant to release a Toy Story film unless its very good. The original Toy Story 3 was scrapped because it wasn’t up to scratch.
My review of it on Letterboxd:
I have it 4/5
10/10
I'm a crying ruined mess and it's gonna take a f***ing lot to top this this year. They did it again
LOVED THIS, soooo much fun and maaaan that ending was sad
The crying children didn’t even ruin it for me which is really something
This was so great, they’re yet to have a dud. I’ve heard people say this film is unnecessary but as long as it’s such high quality, necessity doesn’t come into it at all.
The ending broke me. </3
My only gripe is that it didn't feature as much of my favourite characters (Jessie, Rex, Potato Head, Slinky etc).
Thought this was great, not the best one but still loved it, so funny heart warming and sad all at the same time. Can totally see a Ducky/Bunny spin off
This was amazing Not my favourite of the four, but it packed a strong punch. The last half hour or so in particular was fantastic. The ending really got me.
My only gripe was that I feel Gabby and her minions could have been far more sinister than they actually were (in the beginning anyway - I actually really loved her by the end!)
8/10, not quite as essential as the first 3 but it was basically drawing a line under the original and a proper goodbye to the cast. It was nice not having a "real" baddie as such, just emotionally-damaged toys. Just like people. The best gags were all from the new characters, giving a fresh spin on being a toy especially Forky. Pixar are never bad.
I really enjoyed this. It WAS unnecessary (Toy Story 3 was the perfect ending), but it's still a strong film - really funny and entertaining. I had read reviews of people being in tears but it lacked the emotion of the third film for me.
Yeah I loved it, Toy Story smashes yet again!
I was disappointed by this I couldn't help but think how unnecessary the film was and the franchises past glories overshadowed this one! It just didn't pack an emotional punch for me and none of the new characters grabbed me.
I did like Woody having to figure out what his purpose was and a bigger debate over whether he needed a 'kid' or live the free life would've been good to see. The only line that got me laughing out loud was the unicorn after the RV had come to a stop from the toys driving.
Overall the animation was impressive, especially Bo Peep and her sheep, but the story just wasn't there for me.
Forgot to reply a while ago to say that I thought this was wonderful! I wondered how they'd be able to successfully continue on from what felt like a perfect trilogy, and I think they nailed it! I really enjoyable additional story. The ending of this one does feel like it should be the final film though, but we'll see. Oh and Forky is adorable!
The main reason I'm bumping the thread: it's coming out on DVD/Blu-Ray/4K on 21st October! I'll definitely be buying the Blu-Ray.
