dance is disappearing under a disappointing 'lads' culture that seems to think tits and ass over everything sells.
It doesn't. |

dance is disappearing under a disappointing 'lads' culture that seems to think tits and ass over everything sells. It doesn't. Agreed, why do you think it hardly even registers to me anymore....? Long gone are the glory days of Rave culture and the likes of Orbital, The Orb, Aphex Twin, Underworld, FSOL, Andy Wetherall, Death In Vegas, KLF, LFO, Altern 8, etc getting in the charts and putting a panic up the Daily Mail 'moral majority'.... Dance music has become boring, tedious and practically worthless as a musical form. You still have the real underground stuff like Luke Vibert, Dark Soho and others, the exquisite soundclash of Ladytron, and the EBM and darkbeat of the likes of Hocico, VNV Nation, Ayria, Covenant, etc; electronic acts with real substance, but in the current climate, they barely register..... |

I agree, Grimly - dance is nigh-on dead in the water. 'Dance' fans these days seem content with the $h!te served up by the likes of Sunblock, Eric Prydz, Tiesto and Paul van Dyk - commercial chart cheesey trance that wouldn't see the light of day in dance clubs.
I'm ashamed of the chart dance music round these past few years - it's toe-curling stuff. Thank God for Miss Kittin, Chicks on Speed, Felix da Housecat, Tiga, Tiefschwarz, Michael Mayer et al. |

i wouldnt call tiesto 'cheesy trance'.... ian van dahl qualifies there.
i think theres a direct corrolation between the strength of porn in the videos, to the quality of the track..... and its brought dance down to base level. |

I wouldn't put Paul van Dyk in that group either. For An Angel is a credible dance classic.
