What entries have you submitted that you thought were so amaze yet someone vetoed you? Here are mine
LIGHTS - Saviour (Adam Young Remix)
- the mods were clever enough to work out that Adam Young = Owl City (thanks Iz ) and LIGHTS has a fair fan base, so yeah
David Guetta & Avicii - Sunshine
Pretty much a joke entry, but I love these two artists so much and this track is so amazing
Not going to explain the veto reasons though
Fenec Soler - Magnetic
I was really hoping this would smash, but the mods decided to snoop into everyone's personal charts (including mine ) which was the main reason why this was vetoed (did you all spend hours tracking that advert as well? )
I think Utopia were vetoed for this gem in 2013.
Hard time - Seinabo Sey
Zedd Feat Foxes - Clarity [It was so close to avoiding the veto but the Radio 1 Playlist happened]
A*M*E - Heartless
New World Order - Flute [because it sounded like a smash. We all know how that turned out]
I can't think of anything else right now
Still bitter!
Never been vetoed, what do you think I am, a cheap hoe? ~
I'm sure there's more.
Well not quite a veto in the end cause I changed it before it came to that, but Melissa Steel's Kisses For Breakfast would've undoubtedly been vetoed had I stayed with it last summer! Thought it was all-clear and then Radio 1 playlisted it
I've gone cheap quite a few times but never got vetoed mostly down to the majority of buzzjack not being massive dance fans ~
Anyone who's spoken with me about BJSC or the veto will know I'm still bitter over this one She did win before in 2011 with Raining Diamonds and came top 10 in 2012 with Burn It Down BUT STILL.
Oh and my only actual veto was Alyssa Reid's Running Guns in 53, which I then entered again in 54 in the veto-less contest (still stand by that tbh cause very few knew the song)
I've never been vetoed as I don't enter uninspired songs.
Not one so far, I don't care for glory
Hands up if you know this already!
i've never been vetoed but i'm pretty sure i've come close a couple of times, any time i've entered something that was on its way to veto i reconfirmed b4 it happened anyways
i think jon hopkins / purity ring was probably the closest i've come
in fact never got it at all ~
Things we have vetoed in the past include:
Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand
Claire Maguire - Ain't Nobody
Jessie J - Do It Like A Dude
Nicole Scherzinger - Cold (TWICE!!)
Shakira - Rabiosa
Kelly Clarkson - I Forgive You
N-Dubz - Love Sick
M83 - Midnight City
Agnes - Don't Go Breaking My Heart
Bob Sinclar feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - f*** With You
Carrie Underwood - Good Girl
Eric Saade & Tone Damli - Imagine
Fun. - Some Nights
iamamiwhoami - kill
PSY - Gangnam Style
A*M*E – Play The Game Boy
Jess Mills - For My Sins (TWICE)
Phoenix - Entertainment
Tim McGraw ft. Taylor Swift & Keith Urban - Highway Don't Care
Lorde - Tennis Court
Anna Kendrick - Cups (Jellosea Remix)
Most of this was pre-framework as well. Lorde and Anna Kendrick are the only two of that list that were marked against the framework. I think it's fair to say we're pretty good at this veto malarky by now.
'Entertainment' is another one that was vetoed and then successfully entered later then - didn't do quite as well as 'Raindrops' though.
EDIT: Just checked and that one was also in the no-veto contest.
When did "Play The Game Boy" get vetoed? Was going to send that in my debut.
Ooooh I remember now Good Girl was mine too iirc So I've had 3 vetos - Happy Ever After, Good Girl and Lykke Li's No Rest For The Wicked.
*probably forgetting more*
Clearly Kamikaze by Susanne Sundfør!
Jess Mills will forever be my biggest LOST ENTRY. Yeah it was vetoed twice (and the second time was largely down to the, ahem, REACTION to the first).
Play The Game Boy was also me. I think I've had about 6 vetoes in all, with 5/6 more that could have been, but I withdrew them. Ooops, but y'all know I'm CHEAP.
I think I've only been vetoed once so far, and that was with Mel B - For Once In My Life! The power of a Spice Girl is too strong for this contest, even with their Top 30 Indie hits. *.*
Kerli's Zero Gravity was sent by myself and got vetoed! (). Also PSY's Gangnam Style which I sent prior to it fully blowing up, but it already gathering mass media hype. Kinda wish I sent that song instead of 2NE1's SCREAM the month before, bleh.
do u remember when I sent fka before she was big n was vetoed only for her to be accepted two times after with buzzier songs cos I DO.
also rob sabotaging my qt still not over.
Still never been vetoed. <3 I think I got this.
QT, Ashes Of My Paradise and Feathers are probably the best of the vetos that never made it big off the top of my head, a lot of them didn't turn out to be great losses to the contest and were just cheap anyway. (and Lights of course but there was no way I as a Lights stan was letting that through - it really wasn't because we figured out Owl City's real name, because everyone knows that, it was because Lights HERSELF is rather cheap here)
Though I do remember being very surprised that Midnight City was vetoed in my first contest as I'd never heard of M83 before and I thought that sort of thing was acceptable (but I'd never try it as for my first few contests I had a compulsion to only enter things that had never been mentioned on Buzzjack before let alone in the vetosphere). True story.
Still bitter cos it's BUGGER ALL LIKE THE ORIGINAL
Vetoed because it won Unknown Pleasures and I had no idea. I replaced it with "Centrum" by Jonathan Johansson, which was also entered in UP and I had no idea. Still made the finals!
whatamess.
