Yep, it's back for it's new run this autumn. Here's this year's pro dancers (the ones highlighted in bold are new, and are replacing the departing Iveta Lukisiute and Trent Whiddon):

QUOTE
Aljaž Škorjanec
Anton Du Beke
Brendan Cole
Giovanni Pernice
Gleb Savchenko

Kevin Clifton
Pasha Kovalev
Tristan MacManus

Aliona Vilani
Janette Manrara
Joanne Clifton
Karen Hauer
Kristina Rihanoff
Natalie Lowe
Ola Jordan
Otlile Mabuse

Host of BBC2's 'Eggheads' and Radio 2 DJ, Jeremy Vine, was the first celebrity dancer revealed this morning on Chris Evans' Radio 2 breakfast show: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/strictlycomedancing/entries/164c3151-47dd-40a5-93a1-909b93c89787

With Olly and Caroline back hosting X Factor I'm not sure I'll be watching quite so much this year as in the last two years. Will still watch anyway as it's good Saturday night entertainment.

Any predictions as to who we think will be joining Jeremy?

Posted by: Robot 10th August 2015, 12:02 PM

Surprised Ola is back after last year!

Not really that familiar with Jeremy Vine, though I know who he is. I've seen a few likely rumours; Jamie & Louise Redknapp, Adrian Chiles, Shane Richie, Peter Andre, Carol Kirkwood, Jamelia - I've seen those thrown about and they seem like the sort of names you would expect.

Posted by: Liаm 10th August 2015, 12:09 PM

I hope the Natalie Anderson rumour is true now she's left Emmerdale <3

And Jamie Redknapp please *.* for obvious rumours.

Posted by: Cameron 10th August 2015, 12:19 PM

They're going to have to pull out all the stops to try and beat last years line up ohmy.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 10th August 2015, 12:38 PM

Oooh I saw about Jamie and Louise Redknapp too, they'd be perfect. Peter Andre seems pretty believable, especially as I think he has a new album on the way in the autumn so it'd be perfect promo for him.

Disagree with you highly there, they could hire failed X Factor auditionees and replace Len Goodman and Craig Revel Horwood with a teddy-bear and cat and it would be better than last year's series! And make 'Dreary' Bussell the host of the show!

Posted by: AdamAloud 10th August 2015, 01:49 PM

Claudia Winkleman makes this essential viewing.

Posted by: LexC 10th August 2015, 01:58 PM

I agree on last year's line up being tough to beat but Jeremy Vine is a reasonably big name.

Louise Redknapp strikes me as the token 'I ain't even a trained dancer or nuffin' contestant so her to be in please.

Posted by: LexC 10th August 2015, 07:13 PM

That and Aliona's face of abject hatred when she sees the duffer she's been paired with are always the series highlights.

Ainsely Harriot CONFIRMED

Posted by: Mack 11th August 2015, 06:43 PM

Ainsley Harriott. Yay!

Possible contender on the first person to be voted out in the dance-off.

Posted by: Robot 11th August 2015, 06:52 PM

HE'S GONNA BE ICONIC.

Posted by: Mack 11th August 2015, 06:53 PM

How long will it be before he says 'Green peppers or red tomatoes'?

Posted by: Liаm 11th August 2015, 06:53 PM

Rather than first eliminated, I'd bet that Ainsley could be the one who stays about 5 weeks too long thanks to the comedy vote laugh.gif

Posted by: Regina 11th August 2015, 07:05 PM

Has he not done it already? laugh.gif I feel like he has.

Posted by: JosephStyles 11th August 2015, 07:07 PM

omg Ainsley !! Ready for all the laughs he'll bring laugh.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 11th August 2015, 07:37 PM

I wouldn't totally rule out Ainsley. If memory serves me correctly he sang 'Shake Your Tail Feather' on Children in Need many years ago and he had some MOVES. Some drunk on too much Sangria moves, admittedly, but MOVES.

Posted by: J▲hq 12th August 2015, 09:57 AM

First female to be confirmed is Kellie Bright from Eastenders

Ainsley will be fabulous

Posted by: Liаm 13th August 2015, 10:08 AM

Georgia May Foote (Katie in Coronation Street) is confirmed today.

Posted by: ThePensmith 13th August 2015, 10:48 AM

I get the distinct impression that this'll be a popstar free year based on who's confirmed thus far. 2009 was top heavy with soapstars I seem to remember?

Yes it was.

You had:

Craig Kelly from Coronation Street, Ricky Groves from EastEnders, Natalie Cassidy from EastEnders, Ali Bastian from Hollyoaks and Ricky Whittle also from Hollyoaks and not forgetting Zoe Lucker who would later go and appear in EastEnders and Hollyoaks finally Lalia Rouass who would appear in Holby City.

Former ITV News reader, now BBC Proms host Katie Derham has been confirmed in the last few days. Gok Wan and Helen George, aka Trixie from 'Call the Midwife' are heavily rumoured according to the Telegraph today: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/strictly-come-dancing/11806254/Call-the-Midwifes-Helen-George-to-join-Strictly-Come-Dancing.html

Not many of the strong rumours yet, apart from Georgia, Carol and Peter! Nobody really interests me either, apart from liking Georgia and Kellie in Corrie and Eastenders...

Not Daniel O'Donnell, eugh.

Posted by: AdamAloud 21st August 2015, 10:34 AM

Boxer Anthony Ogogo is the 9th celebrity to be revealed.

Posted by: Robot 21st August 2015, 11:23 AM

A younger name and pretty easy on the eye, so that's a step in the right direction!

Posted by: ThePensmith 21st August 2015, 01:35 PM

Oh I love Carol, she's such a sweet lady. Has the what I call 'Lorraine Kelly' factor, like you'd go to her for tea and biscuits when you were feeling rubbish about life.

Peter Andre will quite obviously finish in the final even if he doesn't win. He'll be to this year what Jason Donovan was to 2011.

Posted by: James1987 22nd August 2015, 08:05 PM

I'm really not blown away by this year's line up (but I said the same last year and was hooked) but Peter Andre drama.gif

He will be the going for the 'im doing it for my kids' sympathy vote...Every VT will be him bringing his kids in to the rehearsal room...

I hope he's the Thom Evans of 2015.

Posted by: ThePensmith 25th August 2015, 05:05 PM

Jamelia will be quite good but will probably be like a Natalie Gumede/Holly Valance I think. Really good but hated by the 'they're a trained dancer already' brigade.

Jay off The Wanted though. That's gonna be interesting given The Wanted spent 99% of their career dancing like dogs weeing up trees. Nicky Byrne teas to be quite honest!

Posted by: LexC 25th August 2015, 05:17 PM

TBF the best final ever had a top four of a Corrie actress, an ex-model, a washed up popstar and a BBC Breakfast Presenter so the lack of A-Listers is not an indicator of a good series.

Posted by: LexC 26th August 2015, 04:36 PM

Helen George aka Trixie the posh totty from Call The Midwife the next one to be confirmed. You can definitely picture her doing quite a prim foxtrot.

Posted by: Liаm 27th August 2015, 06:28 PM

Kirsty Gallacher and Iwan Thomas are the final two names for the line-up.

Posted by: Robot 27th August 2015, 07:22 PM

So yeah, the final line-up is:

1. Jeremy Vine (Journalist and presenter, 50)
2. Ainsley Harriott (Television chef, 58)
3. Kellie Bright (EastEnders actress, 39)
4. Georgia May Foote (Former Coronation Street actress, 24)
5. Katie Derham (Newsreader and presenter, 45)
6. Carol Kirkwood (Weather presenter, 53)
7. Peter Andre (Singer and television personality, 42)
8. Daniel O’Donnell (Singer-songwriter, 53)
9. Anthony Ogogo (Boxer, 26)
10. Jay McGuiness (The Wanted singer, 25)
11. Anita Rani (Radio and television presenter, 37)
12. Jamelia (Singer and presenter, 34)
13. Helen George (Call the Midwife actress, 31)
14. Iwan Thomas (Sprinter, 41)
15. Kirsty Gallacher (Television presenter, 39)

Not the best line-up they've ever had, but I find I enjoy it whether I have Frankie's and Caroline's to root for or not. I didn't start off loving Abbey Clancy but I did by the end of it, so it doesn't matter greatly.

Posted by: LexC 27th August 2015, 10:28 PM

It's a solidly C-List (free from ex-TOWIE people and Hollyoaks actors) line up which is fine by Strictly standards. Lets not pretend that they're usually inundated with Hollywood A-Listers.

Posted by: Froot. 27th August 2015, 10:31 PM

Daniel O'Donnell though :/

Posted by: liamk97 6th September 2015, 01:02 PM

Louisa Lytton got a 10 in week 3, funnily enough for a Jive too.

And of course Frankie got a Donny 10 last year.

Posted by: LexC 11th October 2015, 11:25 AM

Echoing the previous sentiments but Jay was jaw droppingly good plus the shy/nervous thing makes him really endearing to me (plus my sister is a massive Peter Andre stan so I want to piss her off and have him not win pls).

Posted by: Mack 8th November 2015, 07:38 PM

And Jeremy Vine is still in the show.......

Posted by: gooddelta 25th November 2015, 09:44 AM

I don't follow the show but I've seen Jamelia moaning about Peter Andre in the media and it reminded me of her doing exactly that when Mysterious Girl beat Thank You to No.1 in 2004 laugh.gif 11 years pass but some things never change!

Posted by: Joe. 25th November 2015, 09:56 AM

Poor Jamelia. Peter has been hugely overhyped though, it's quite gratuitous, and Peter is annoyingly overdoing his emtions/reactions to everything - really milking it.

Jay's Jive is still by far the best of the series (possibly better/more professional looking than anything from last year) and it was onyl given 9 9 9 10 because it was only week 3, a few dances have been scored higher than this dance now which is really, really unfair. If he gets to the final, he'll perform it again and hopefully get 10101010.

Posted by: Regina 25th November 2015, 12:14 PM

TBH Jamelia is right to moan, Peter was allowed to do his dance again, which isn't fair laugh.gif

Posted by: TyrannosaurusLex 25th November 2015, 02:36 PM

Jamelia in that interview was so shady it made me forget all of her horrible opinions. Yaaaasss mama. Surely this should mean Peter doesn't get a bounce in the public vote this week and he'll be gone soon.

Very much living for Anita and Georgia at the moment, Jay strikes me as possibly doing a Sophie Ellis Bextor/Jake Wood and end up peaking too early and falling short of winning.

Posted by: AdamAloud 25th November 2015, 02:39 PM

ANITA MUST WIN

Posted by: Joe. 25th November 2015, 02:47 PM

I love Gleb Anita, Helen, Jay and Katie. A LOT. But I just feel like my heart is with Jay given that fact he pulled off such an amazing dance in week 3. I really need another wow moment from him.

Kellie, Georgia and especially Peter, I really want to see these guys out next.

Posted by: Robot 25th November 2015, 03:50 PM

Georgia is my favourite personally, great personality in the faster routines and oozes grace and passion in the slower routines. The best all rounder in it for me.

Posted by: jase. 25th November 2015, 10:10 PM

Georgia has to win wub.gif

Posted by: Mack 26th November 2015, 08:24 AM

Hopefully Kellie will go next.

Posted by: jase. 28th November 2015, 11:41 PM

39 for Helen's VW...really? mellow.gif

Posted by: Joe. 29th November 2015, 03:18 PM

I guess Helen's VW was technically very good. Because it wasn't much of a wow moment for the viewers despite being very nice.

Jay was, without a doubt the showstopper tonight. What a Tango. Glad he finally had another moment, I can see him in the final again now.

Posted by: Scherz 29th November 2015, 05:41 PM

I find Helen really disingenuous, when she was at Blackpool she almost threw a strop when she didn't get the score she wanted.
Jay's my winner. Jay and his tight trousers wub.gif

Posted by: TyrannosaurusLex 29th November 2015, 10:59 PM

I think the VW is just one of those dances that it's possible to nail but it still not really be a 'wow' dance but I guess that just goes to the root problem of the format of judging that alongside something like a paso doble which is a lot more impactful by nature.

Really can't call who the finalists are going to be. I'd assume Kellie's out next week and then Katie ought to go in the semis given she's been the least consistent but you do wonder how much the producers/the Anton fangirls (well okay it's Strictly so probably more like fangrans) are angling for Anton to get to his first ever final but then I'm not sure who would come 5th in that instance.

Posted by: Joe. 29th November 2015, 11:17 PM

I quite like Helen, I think she's cute. But I can see why people might find her disingenuous. Jay seems like such a sweet guy, and he's getting more and more handsome every week. What a transformation from the first weeks with that awful hair!

I think the final three will be Jay, Helen and either Anita or Georgia. I'd prefer Katie, Anita and Jay though with Helen 4th.

I have to say, I LOVED Katie's dance last week but her tango this week was ropey AF. To me it looked like their were loads of mistakes and wobbles and she got off lightly with the judges!

Posted by: James1987 30th November 2015, 07:29 PM

I'm hoping Georgia will get to the final, I can see Jay getting there with Helen though I'd prefer to see Anita or Katie in the final over Helen, she's getting on my nerves a bit now...

But at least Peter Andre is out cheer.gif thank god! I was worried all of last weeks controversy was going to work in his favour but thankfully not!

Posted by: ❊❊❊❊ 7th December 2015, 12:19 PM

jay is so obviously going to win, he's very much the harry judd of this series (with the same partner no less). i imagine anita and gleb will make it through too as she is likeable and he's exceptionally good looking. the last spot could be anyones tbh. you can't really go on past dance-offs but given kellie's been there twice. there's a lot of personality vote going on this year...

i must say for the stage of the competition last week was a bit lacklustre. hopefully someone brings it over the two dance semi-off

also for helen to score a 39, win the quickstep-athon and to be gone the following week, she just didn't want to let alijaz down :')

Posted by: Joe ho ho! 7th December 2015, 03:16 PM

Sorry, but Helen was better than Georgia in that dance off, fair and square, the rectified everything and her dance had higher difficulty and more content - the judges went on past performance. She was starting to annoy me though, so I don't mind that she's gone, as unfair as it was.

Jay's Rumba really was quite emotional, I really loved it. Predictable as it is, I really hope he does win, up until last week, i thought he'd peaked too early and would be going out around now.

Posted by: Regina 7th December 2015, 03:27 PM

that rumba worked particularly well because it was a totally new concept for a dance (a bit like kimberley walsh's utterly fabulous flying-themed charleston a few years back) it really deserved a 40 but with jay's wooden face...

They actually said on It Takes Two last week that Helen had the highest overall score of all the couples so far so not sure it was past performance. The judges shot themselves in the foot I think. They all docked a mark for her wobble at the end and that put her way down. In terms of entertainment and difficulty the Les Mis routines was miles ahead of Katie and Anton for instance.

Anyway, the programme has been running out of steam for some time and it's probably not got too long left.

Nobody could see The Generation Game or Noel's House Party ever being cancelled either but both were as the format was tired (although Jim Davidson probably killed off the former just by being involved in it).

Not sure I can see myself watching as regularly in the future.

For your first point, you are very much correct. Quantity of viewers doesn't instantly mean quality of programming. (Hello Corrie) laugh.gif

What they need to do is really give it an "uplift". Everything to the design of the advertising/logo's need updating.

Look at Dancing With The Stars... the themes and stuff are brilliant. From simplistic theme's like "My Most Memorable Year" where you get to know the contestants more to big production numbers, team events and things like a week of swapping pro's.

The cheesy VT's are getting a bit old too imo. sleep.gif

what a shitshow of a semi

for anyone to be scoring a 4 at this stage!

A 4 seriously?!?!

That's disgraceful, I still have to catch up but that's still quite bad for a semi final as I can imagine it was Craig giving the 4...

what an utter FARCE of a series, I can't remember any series being so absurdly tainted as this one.

what a final to look forward to?!

Just been watching the final, Kellie HAS to win. The others were very lacklustre in comparison but I very much doubt she'll still beat Jay...

SO happy with the winner wub.gif

Why didn't Jay do his Jive again in the final? So odd. It was an obvious 40.
