Is anybody else watching this? I've only seen the first 2 (watching at UK pace) but I'm already obsessed!

Yeah I'm really enjoying it. Think we're 6 episodes in. Maybe 5. We just saw a pretty massive twist and the actual exorcism is in full swing.
It's very good. |

I was really looking forward to this but episode 1 was appalling. They lost me at Geea Davis's character coming to a sudden conclusion that her daughter was possessed just because she heard something through the wall + that embarrassing CGI bird.

Just finished this and am excited to see it has been renewed. This turned out to be infinitely better than I had expected, and I loved the links to the movie.
Seems like nobody on here was watching it, but you're honestly missing a great show. |

I've been watching! I was pleasantly surprised, classic horror film remakes can generally sod off whether it's in film or TV format but this was pretty good and came up with an engaging storyline and characters. I feel like there was a little too much going on at the end plotwise what with the conspiracies and the infidelity storyline, but it resolved well. Well enough in fact, it definitely doesn't need a second series unless it's focusing on the demonic cult group and other presences of evil and not the MacNeil family as I can't think where that story can go anymore.

Absolutely agree. I could have done without some of the plot lines lasting all the way to the end, as I really just wanted the action to get back to the family when they weren't on screen. Also, considering where it ended up when the main storyline was revealed about halfway through, I suppose this should really be considered sequel territory, rather than any kind of remake.
They didn't mess around with the original story too much. I can't remember noticing too many inconsistencies, so it was faithfully done. My only gripe from the last episode was when Geena woke up in Regan's old bedroom and opened the door, we were looking at a hallway/corridor instead of the landing and little stairway from the original house. If they'd matched that up properly, it would have been a really neat little touch, as they did make her room look like it did in the movie. I'm a huge fan of Geena but I honestly wasn't all that impressed with her performance in the first couple of episodes. By the end though, she played a blinder. |
