Yep. That time of year is now but a month away once again - the launch show is being recorded on 5th September for a 9th September airing on BBC One. Given we are not too far off hearing names now, I felt it time to start the thread.
Len Goodman's replacement on the judging panel this year is Shirley Ballas, a former professional dancer and world ballroom champion (and mum of Mark Ballas, one of the professionals on Dancing with the Stars in the States) who is now coach and choreographer. There's also three new professional female dancers this year: Amy Dowden, Dianne Buswell and Nadiya Bychkova, who replace Natalie Lowe, Oksana Platero and last year's winner alongside her celebrity partner Ore Oduba, Joanne Clifton. So who do we think will be vying for glitterball glory this year? I know Mollie King has apparently signed up so will be good to see her on it. Ross Kemp and Joan Collins have also been tipped for this series and - perhaps trying to emulate Ballsgate from last year - Ed Miliband. There was a rumour Olly Murs was doing it which he firmly quashed on Twitter a few months ago so I don't think he'll be doing it. Likewise I don't see Martine McCutcheon doing it either given she's got a new album and tour on the go. |

I know she's said she's a fan of the show anyway but Bruno and Craig in particular will absolutely love her  Another couple of rumoured names are Angela Scanlon from The One Show (she's really pretty, would quite like it if she did it), Samantha Womack, Anne Robinson (again, would be brilliant), Alexandra Burke (would make sense given she's finishing in her tour of Sister Act soon), and the Paralympian Jonnie Peacock. |

A few have been debunked like Joan Collins who's said she's not doing it multiple times and Sam Womack who's in the touring production of The Adams Family so will be otherwise occupied this Autumn.
I've seen Ruth Langsford (off the telly and Lex's flights to and from Portugal this July), Tim Peake, Rick Astley and Elaine Page rumored who would all be reasonably noteworthy (I bet Tim Peake's first routine is to "Fly Me To The Moon" or something equally predictable). |

I had a feeling Ruth would do it. Now cue all those magazines with names like 'Woman' and 'My Weekly' declaring headlines like 'RUTH AND EAMONN: The Strictly curse strikes as marriage in jeopardy' etc.
Interestingly one other name that has apparently rumoured to have signed up is Brian Conley (unfunny comedian off of the late 90s). |

The Reverend Richard Coles (formerly of 80s pop legends The Communards) has just been confirmed as the fifth contestant. It's safe to say he fulfills the Ed Balls quotient this year!

Rumours abound in the tabs today that Aston Merrygold has signed up. Which of course has been greeted with his ability to backflip and move quite well as being on a par with swindling.
