Miley & Normani
Katy is gonna stay on C List for 5 weeks and drop off I reckon. This might be the last time we see her on this playlist but I'm happy to be proven wrong! |

Good NEs for Haim (albeit a few weeks too late) and great to see the 1975 instantly added to the A-LIst. They are the biggest band in Britain at the moment so no real surprise.
Surprised though to see High Contrast added late to the A-List its a catchy track! Sad that Stranger didn't follow Harmony Hall & single 2 into the A-List, the new VW album is fantastic! |

'People' is the 24th song to go straight to A-list so far this year. Only a total of 11 songs managed it in 2018.

Lol at Skrillex in 2012, big dance artist then!
They have been slow to change the playlist from slow support to a more flexible approach with bigger artists instantly being A-Listed. I never thought there was any point in adding big artists that would be A-Listed a few weeks later into the C-List especially if they were already hits from week 1. Would mean they can move on from them quicker and leave space for fresher additions earlier than the Capitals of this world. I assume the same was the case in the 1980s when the chart was a little more like today when the likes of Wham released a new single it would chart high in the first week and have a small climb eg. 10-4-1-1-2-5- etc after that compared to other smaller artists who would grow into the chart from its lower reaches. The only pre 2007 high entries in the playlist were by big returning artists such as Eminem/Madge/Red Hot Chilli Peppers from memory. Always remember 'Without Me' entering in the A/B List which was shocking in them days. This post has been edited by Steve201: Aug 23 2019, 12:18 PM |

They could have done with adding Charlie Puth and removing CamelBugg

Fabulous to see High Contrast A List! Don’t care for any of the additions though
