Join me and Joseph on plug.dj next Sunday afternoon for a look back at the year that has been 2020 as we count down through the one hundred biggest selling songs of the year!
Radio 1 will be doing a quick look at the top end tonight but we’ll be going through the entire year end list so come along and relive this crazy year in music. the chart will start at 2pm, I will be on from 1 to play a few honourable mentions that missed the list. |

I don’t follow the singles chart anymore. It used to be exciting but since streaming, the singles chart has become stale, boring and dull.

I don’t follow the singles chart anymore. It used to be exciting but since streaming, the singles chart has become stale, boring and dull. Me too. I stopped following when Savage Love was number 1 and only revisited them over Christmas just out of curiosity to see if I missed much. Head & Heart, WAP and Positions were all obvious huge hits that were everywhere so no surprises they were long running number 1s. Hadn’t heard Mood or Lemonade but not missing much based on the clips I listened to on Boxing Day. And I saw on sky news that Mariah finally made it. I was pleasantly surprised to see Looking For Me did quite well and Tate McCrae was a nice discovery but it doesn’t seem like I missed out. I will find out what happens with Mariah vs Wham vs Jess on NYD but then i can see myself leaving it for another year and see if things have improved by next Christmas |

Looking at the top 10 on TOTP on Christmas Day, I'm not surprised they've ditched the Chart of the Year. It doesn't mean much anymore with older records having such a big advantage.
Perhaps they should do it based on sales they racked up whilst in the weekly top 20 or 40 only. Edit - didn't realise they did the top 20 on Sunday afternoon This post has been edited by AcerBen: 29th December 2020, 04:20 PM |

So you guys are gonna release the year end list before it’s up on the OCC website? There's a disclaimer that it won't include Friday 1st January's chart I'm afraid, so the final OCC one might look *slightly* different (not hugely!), tomorrow is the day that works best for Dan and I as hosts though! Ultimately it'll be a great way to reflect on the chart music we had in 2020 |

Can’t wait to hear the fresh hits like Perfect and Mr. Brightside as well as a couple of Christmas songs. |
