BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dance _ Avicii - SOS (feat. Aloe Blacc)

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ 7th April 2019, 12:01 AM

Aloe Blacc will be doing the vocals on "SOS". An extract of the lyrics is: "Can you hear me, SOS / Help me put my mind to rest."

Hope it’s as amazing as WMU!

I am sceptical of yet another Aloe Blacc feature. Made sense in 2013 but now I'm not so sure. Makes me wonder if Avicii wanted this or if he's sung over the top of an instrumental he had in waiting just for nostalgia's sake (yes 2013 is many moons ago now). I'm excited for the album overall though.

Short preview:

Really looking forward to this.

I’m sure it doesn’t matter whether or not Aloe Blacc is credited.

I'm getting Stories vibes from that preview, would love to hear more of that sound, one of my favourite albums of all time.

This was uploaded on Avicii's YouTube channel.

Out now sounds really good!

Available on Spotify.

Quite disappointed by it tbh. Really good build up, but a poor drop.

Still though, I'm looking forward to the album, particularly Heaven which sounds amazing from the demos. And I really hope this track grows on me as well.

Posted by: gavindeejay 10th April 2019, 07:15 PM

The song itself is nice enough but the drop is really weak unfortunately.

Posted by: danG 10th April 2019, 07:16 PM

It's great to have new Avicii music and this will no doubt get a lot of spins and possibly grow on me a fair bit... but judging on first listen this won't go down as an ultimate fave song of his.
I really hope there's better songs on the album.

Really underwhelmed :/

Someone made a mastered version of demos for Heaven ft. Chris Martin is here, apparently the 'official' version will be on the album - https://vimeo.com/289922524

I reckon that one will go down as one of his classics in future years biggrin.gif

Posted by: Cqmerqn 10th April 2019, 07:21 PM

Not a fan unfortunately, echoing what others have said here that I’m hoping there are better songs on the album.

Posted by: gavindeejay 10th April 2019, 07:21 PM

Definitely looking forward to Heaven! Could be a massive summer hit imo!

Posted by: BridgeCow 10th April 2019, 07:21 PM

I really like it, definitely agree about the drop, but it’s not awful to the point of being uncomfortable, it definitely has that Avicii vibe which I guess is what’s important. Aloe sounds great tho and it is incredibly catchy

I'm used to think that first singles are always more for creating fire and smoke than for listening to it for years after release. This one perfectly describes the rule.
Couple of festival and 'tear squeezing' remixes to come please. The song itself is quite listenable as a background.

Posted by: darrens94 10th April 2019, 07:24 PM

I like this but the chorus reminds of me of No Scrubs/Shape Of You for some reason.

Posted by: Moses 10th April 2019, 07:26 PM

I like it on first listen tbh

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 10th April 2019, 07:42 PM

God, it sounds like Kygo. Keep it.

Posted by: lewistgreen 10th April 2019, 10:32 PM

I sort of indifferent on the first couple of listens so far

Posted by: stopped clock 10th April 2019, 10:49 PM

The idea of more Avicii music dance.gif SOS sounds like a grower to me biggrin.gif very Stories, although not sounding one of the stronger tracks, the verses are probably more enjoyable.

As for Heaven, I wish I could find the old version from years ago I used to obsess over (my copy got corrupted too) as I preferred it to the new Chris Martin one.

Posted by: Dexton 11th April 2019, 12:20 AM

I like it but I find it a bit hard to believe this is what he thought was “his best material in years”

I guess technically it's his first released material in 'years' (1 and a half)! laugh.gif

Posted by: danG 11th April 2019, 08:22 AM

They’re saying this upcoming album is his best work yet. I’ll only believe it when I hear it, True and Stories will be very hard to top.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 11th April 2019, 08:23 AM

For me he pretty much completely lost it at Stories, that was such a disappointment.

Posted by: danG 11th April 2019, 02:18 PM

Straight in at #1 on Sweden Spotify with 334k streams and that was just in a few hours!
Closing in on the top 10 on UK iTunes too and it should make its Spotify debut tomorrow.

Posted by: Rooney 11th April 2019, 06:20 PM

I like the track, but it's nothing groundbreaking and it's way too short.

'True' was a good album, but I found 'Stories' majorly disappointing. Would take a stab in the dark that 'Heaven' will be the track that's probably released just before the album..

Posted by: slowdown73 11th April 2019, 10:08 PM

Quite like the new track but nothing different really to his other stuff.
