I'm quite surprised that several Stages tracks have been streamed more times than some fan favourites. Clearly there's an audience for that album!

I'm not surprised at all to be honest - the point of these sort of albums are to try and capture the very casual listener and it wouldn't surprise me if the listeners to those Stages tracks are non-Spice fans; same with Emma's My Happy Place

Their numbers are low, people!  None of Mel B's album tracks made it into the Top 100, and there's only one single in this section, the #13 smash 'Lullaby', a choice which was essentially the death knell of her solo career with a major label. It's cute, but really, Mel and Virgin? You all thought this had the potential to smash?  Appalled to see the majestic Top 5 hit 'Free Me' in 83rd place with only a little over 30,000 streams in a whole year. As has been mentioned, songs from that Emma album era are not available to stream in many countries. Clearly even from a UK perspective it's not a song that can discovered in any major playlists... that's such a shame! Whoever is in charge of playlists like This Is Spice Girls or The Songbook... you really couldn't throw a bone to this career highlight song?  The #20-peaking underperformance that is 'We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight' fares better with almost 80k streams across the single mix and its original album version.Emma decided in 2019 that she'd quite like to be a Christmas chanteuse, but the two songs she recorded for the festive season don't do particularly outstanding numbers. Seems like it'll take another two or three Christmases for her cover of 'Santa Baby' to exceed a million streams, and not many people check out her original 'Coming Home for Christmas'. 31 Melanie C songs in this section... and this is where we say goodbye to every album track from 'Northern Star'. 'Be the One' was the least played with approaching 27k streams, while 'Ga Ga' proves to be the most popular with double that figure. Reason's only Top 10 hit single - 'Here It Comes Again' - bows out with a bit less than 60k streams. 'The Sea' and 'Version of Me' are the only Melanie C albums that don't have a song in the Top 50. 'Think About It' from 'The Sea' was 855 streams shy of making it into the Top 50! 'Version of Me' is Melanie C's worst performing album, with its lead single 'Anymore' the highest of its tracks with less than 70k streams. Geri Halliwell's#22 single 'Desire' attracted 33k streams. The cover version B Side 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin'' has a good showing in 53rd place with 83k streams - Geri's 10th highest streamed song of the past 12 months! |

I'm surprised to see Think About It getting more streams in the past year than more recent singles. It is definitely one of Melanie's most remembered singles from the Red Girl era.

Quite a few Melanie C singles appear here. I was surprised to see that 'Goin' Down' has less streams overall than 'Carolyna'. Considering that the former is a UK Top 5 hit included on Melanie C's biggest album, while the latter was her first single to miss the UK Top 40 and only had mild success in Europe. Meanwhile 'If That Were Me', the fifth and final single from 'Northern Star', managed to attract 150k+ streams which took its overall stream count over a million. Not bad for a #18 hit! The lead single from 'Beautiful Intentions' appears here too. 'High Heels' has achieved over 2 million streams across the original version and its remixes, which is quite a nice achievement for a stand alone single. Her decision not to include it on 'Melanie C' might limit its potential at this point. The streams of 'On the Horizon' over the past year are relatively impressive! 190k out of 815k streams - that's approaching 25% of its lifetime Spotify streams in just 12 months. Not sure what has caused that slight surge, but I welcome it! It's by far the most streamed track from 'Reason', and in her Top 20 most streamed tracks of her whole career. I'm sure Melanie herself would be absolutely delighted to know this. x 'Loving You' unfortunately seems to have become a little bit forgotten about, considering that it was quite a big hit in the UK for both Melanie C and Matt Cardle's usual standards. Its 240k streams adding to its 6.7m total is only 3.5%. By the way, the figures for 'Loving You' include 'Te Amo'. 'Te Amo' was streamed 5,282 times in 12 months and has a total of 96,282. Emma Bunton and Will Young's duet of 'I Only Want to Be with You' did rather well - over a third of its streams occurred since May 2022. It even outstreamed the lead single from 'My Happy Place', 'Baby Please Don't Stop'. Emma's cover of the Spice Girls single '2 Become 1', on which she duets with Robbie Williams, also did quite well in the past year with 25% of its total streams occurring in that time. A couple of singles from Mel B and Geri here, incidentally both UK #4 hits - 'Tell Me' and 'Ride It' respectively. |

It's a shame Melanie didn't include High Heels on the deluxe edition of her self-titled album.
Good Enough has twice as many streams as End of Everything. It could have been a great single. |

'Come Away With Me', Emma's cover of Norah Jones' 2002 song (included on Emma's 2019 album 'My Happy Place' is her 5th highest placed song in this list. It recently crossed over 1 million streams. It's all thanks to being included on a playlist called Chill Covers which has 434,181 likes. Is 'Maybe' one of the 'Free Me' era songs that does have more availability worldwide? It's well ahead of the other songs on that album, with 290k streams in a year (which is 1% the amount it deserves honestly x). Victoria has a very small catalogue of music online, with a couple of her singles not even available to buy or stream. For some reason, back in 2016, whoever is responsible for the "This Is Spice Girls" track list decided to include 'Midnight Fantasy' in it, despite the fact that it's only an album track - probably to pad out her presence in the playlist. It results in it being streamed more decently than a lot of actual solo Spice singles!  It was also only streamed just 29k less times than Victoria's actual biggest hit - 'Out of Your Mind'. A massive hit in 2000, but not given much love on Spotify at all - it doesn't appear to be included on any official Spotify playlists according to spotontrack.com.Geri's 'Scream If You Wanna Go Faster' became her first release to chart lower than #2 in the UK, when it entered at #8 in the summer of 2001. Despite this, its yearly streams and overall stream count are quite a bit higher than 'Bag It Up', her third #1 from 2000. It achieved just 270k streams, and it has a fairly underwhelming lifetime stream count of under 1.6m. I Want You Back by Mel B was the very first solo single, and peaked at #1 in the UK in 1998 - but 324k streams in a year suggests fairly weak playlisting and/or it not being too well remembered. Interestingly Mel B's most recent single - 2013's 'For Once in My Life', which didn't chart inside the UK Top 200, outstreamed her #1 single in the past 12 months... and it isn't far behind in terms of overall streams either! It is Mel's highest song in this countdown. Melanie C's streams have definitely improved with her most recent self-titled era from 2020 - three of its singles are Top 25 here, and there's more to come! |

We can definitely see the importance of being included on the This Is Spice Girls playlist. I wish it would update regularly and include new stuff, such as tracks from Melanie's recent album.
