The Strokes have announced their new album 'The New Abnormal' will be releasing on April 10th! Their first since 'Comedown Machine' in 2013.

'At The Door' is out today - though apparently it's not the "lead single" which will be released next week.

I keep doing this! Was listening to quite a bit of The Strokes at the tail end of last year and wondered, will they ever release an album again? And hey presto here they are ohmy.gif

Quite liking the new track on first listen, looking forward to the lead single next week biggrin.gif

The lead single out next week will be 'Bad Desicions' - which they performed at Bernie Sanders' rally yesterday. Sounds like a banger!

I'm really liking 'At The Door', that chorus and the synths wub.gif Guessing the proper lead single will probably be one that's a bit more like their usual sound? I'm glad they dropped something a bit different first anyway.

'Bad Decisions' is out now and it's fantastic! Much more of a classic Strokes sound.

Yes I was listening again to 'Under Cover Of Darkness' and its follow up 'Taken For A Fool' recently. I really liked those two songs in 2010.

'Bad Decisions' sounds quite good and better than 'At The Door' imo.

Of the 2 so far it's certainly "At The Door" that grabs my attention. Really, really liking it.

Yeah 'Bad Decisions' is more like what I expected from this comeback - that is to say nowhere near as interesting (it's still ok but disappointing after how great 'At The Door' was). I can see why they've done this as I guess this song is more in line with what their core fanbase would have wanted but I'd have preferred if they committed to actually trying something different as it was a very promising start xx

Bad Decisions seems a bit basic/generic to me, I wanted to like it and that's a nice riff but not sure if my appetite for a song like that is that big in 2020. And I really liked the two 2010s records. Acts that have been around that long have to pull something special out of the bag to win me over, and this just sounds like a veteran band going through the motions. Plus, it's too long.

"At The Door" is now my favourite by The Strokes since "You Only Live Once" and up there with my very favourites by them. Fab. Wonder when a third track will be released, only a few weeks to album release?

'Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus' is out today! Another brilliant tune, hyped for the album on Friday.

^^ really liking that on first listen! Certainly more than "Bad Decisions", not that I dislike that one. "At The Door" still remains 'the one' I think for this era. I did read a 5/10 review of the album but I'm convinced it's gonna be good.

I will certainly give it a spin on Friday, really enjoying 'Bad Decisions' at the moment, in fact I exchanged it when listening to 'At The Door' a few weeks back.

This is a decent album on first listen. Will take more for it to be embedded in my brain but no bad tracks. "At The Door" really is magic.

Decent on first listen - I love ‘At The Door’, going to play it a few more times today as I’m sure it’s album that needs multiple listens.

I absolutely love this album - Julian's vocals particularly shine. My favourite non-singles are 'The Adults Are Talking', 'Selfless' and 'Ode to the Mets'. It'll definitely be up there in my AOTY selection!
