Did not know either of these! I always assumed it really was Ho-Oh and it was a sort of teaser akin to how Togepi appears so early. Probably should have worded that a little better, the one he sees flying WAS Ho-Oh! It was in the second episode where he mistook the picture of Articuno (the one with the other birds and Arcanine) as Ho-Oh. |

Tracey had a Scyther didn’t he? I think idk he was so forgettable tbh He did but even with him being so forgettable, most people remember Marill in terms of his team. It's like Misty with her arsenal of Water types yet most people remember Togepi (Psyduck easily counters this tho).

6 Lapras 8.542
5 Growlithe 8.625 At 6, just finishing off the top 5 is the duel water/ice type pokemon Lapras. Unlike most pokemon Lapras does not evolve into another pokemon. Lapras is certainly, for me anyway, such a memorable pokemon, I remember it from the anime, films, the cards and the games itself. Plus I think the design is both cool/dangerous and also quite cute at the same time. Which is what is best for most pokemon. Growithe is a fire type pokemon that if exposed to a fire stone can evolve into Arcamine. Growithe has possibly one of the cutest designs ever. It reminds me of like a puppy meets a baby tiger and I don't know why . Aside from cuteness, very powerful in battle too iirc. Out of who is left, predict who is next out? |

Growlithe the most adorable Pokemon ever.
Sounds like the Arcanine/Ninetales rivalry could actually be a fight for the top I love both but the former is unparalleled. |

3 Ninetales 8.667 (more 10s) 4 Vulpix 8.667 And that means that the top complete evolution tree is the oh so adorable and perfect FIREFOX... erm... Vulpix and Ninetails duo. They got exactly the same score and actually, not everyone rated them the same, I gave Vulpix a 10 with Ninetales an 8 because I just find the former far cuter. However more people gave Ninetales a 10 overall which allows it to gain this rate's bronze medal on countback. As a really cool fire Pokémon and one of the best-looking, both are high prizes for Pokémon collectors, particularly as they're fairly rare and have much more fighting power than they might look as delicate foxes. They've always stood out to me among the list, again, Vulpix more so for me, but Ninetales also... well, it looks regal! And beyond the fire, Ninetales specifically has access to a number of different typed moves through a curse mythology surrounding it (hence why it's 'tales' instead of tails). Interesting note on translation and origins, because this Pokémon line has one of the best of them. Ninetales is called Kyukon in Japanese, which is kind of a combination of 'nine' and 'fox' (well, 'ko' is an alternate way to say kitsune, which is the legendary fox which can breathe fire), which also when you read the whole word can also mean 'old grudge', while Vulpix, is Rokon, which means 'six' and 'fox', because it has six tails. That parallel isn't so obvious in the English translation, which just seems to be the Latin word for fox (vulpes) messed around a bit, unless you assume the 'ix' is meant to be six. Which is something I was never really looking for. Anyway, long story short, nine beats six on a tiebreak despite being eaten by seven. |

Omg Squirtle being top 2 is so perfect! He was always my favorite Pokemon and Arcanine being in the F2 makes this just the most perfect Top 2 in any game ever. <3

Your final two; Arcanine and Squirtle, Squirtle and Arcanine, are coming later today/tomorrow. Which one has claimed the total of Buzzjack’s Favourite Generation 1 Pokemon?

02 | Arcanine | 8.750
Along with Growlithe, Arcanine is my favourite Pokemon of all time. I remember it being the first Pokemon card I ever received and was so disappointed when it turned out that I had to trade it to my Pokemon Blue version! Arcanine is a "legendary" Pokemon (although not in the traditional sense), boasting very high stats with powerful fire-type moves, and needing a fire stone to be evolved from Growlithe. There are a lot of Arcanine seen in the anime, most noticeably Gary's Arcanine. In the beta for Pokemon Red and Blue, Arcanine's original name was supposed to be Blaze... I like Arcanine WAY better!! With 150 Pokemon already out the way, this means your winner is... 01 | Squirtle | 8.958 So close to a 9 average for Squirtle. A very deserving winner, it is often thought of as the "cool" starter Pokemon, evidenced by the Squirtle Squad in the anime and being a kick-ass water type! It also seems to be the "in" starter Pokemon of choice, with Ash, May, Gary and Tierno all owning one at one point or another! |

Perfect winner! I forgot to vote but Squirtle would've been my 11 so I'm happy it's still managed to snatch it
Thanks for running it. Are we getting Gen 2 next? *.* |

That's a winner I can get behind, probably my favourite starter (close between him and Bulbasaur, just not Charmander lol) and very fun and cute in the anime too. Wow, we really like fire types too don't we? Arcanine, Ninetales (and Rapidash for that matter) are all pretty stunning looking, powerful and cool. It's just a shame Fire has some clear weaknesses that make it less workable in the games.
Thanks for this guys, great nostalgia trip! I'd happily partake in a Gen 2 rate too but that's definitely as far as my Pokemon knowledge goes~ |

Arcanine being the highest fully evolved Pokemon is good enough for me my favourite Pokemon overall across every generation, a fierce design, so well rounded and can do anything you want it to. Squirtle is my favourite starter from this generation though so not a bad winner at all.
I would gladly take part in a Gen 2 rate as well, hell I'd take part in all of them. |
