I had this in my hands today but decided against it when I got to the front of the queue, I just can’t justify spending £60 on it!

There are a glut of them on eBay right now, I'm not surprised.

Yeah £60 for this is not for me, unfortunately. Kind of disappointed at the price especially as it's not even a nice gatefold!? sad.gif

Ah well.

i know it's very expensive (I paid £53) but I couldn't resist as folklore is my favourite album of hers and this version is stunning

My shop ran out after I had queued for an hour and a half, but I've since ordered from a reseller for around £80 ohmy.gif ... I can't see the prices going down tbh, it's so in-demand.

Rough Trade and Banquet are selling their leftovers tonight at 8pm. Doubt they'll be around for long though...

I'm really disappointed by Taylor and her team for releasing this at such a high price point. It feels really exploitative as, from what I've seen, it's not even like the packaging is anything particularly special to justify it. RSD titles are already often inflated so to push towards the £55-£60 mark is just a ridiculous price imo.

It's definitely a bit of a piss take and extremely exploitative.

Now people are also re-selling for twice the price... sad.gif I woulda loved it and probably would've got it at a cheaper price. Ah well sad.gif

Definitely an extreme amount for a 2LP which isn't even a gatefold. I just wonder whether this will encourage labels/retailers to continue pushing the prices up, if they can see that they can "get away" with these higher figures.

I feel part of the problem because I bought it. cry.gif I love the folklore era though, and presumably it's never going to sell lower than its retail value... as Jonjo says, people are trying to sell it more double that online, which is just crazy.

I remember thinking that Chromatica was expensive for RSD (and was that about £40 to £45 odd?) but when I opened it I at least could see the extra effort that had gone into the packaging and the content.

I've cut back considerably this year on buying vinyl because I'm simply not prepared to pay these kind of prices - Taylor is far from the only culprit but this album is definitely one of the worst I've seen in terms of value for money.

I guess it’s like what’s happening with concert ticket prices, they’re seeing how much people pay scalpers and pushing the prices up to keep as much of that for themselves. Like in previous years this would’ve been limited to about 10k copies and priced at £30, whereas this year there’s 115k copies at £50-£60. It’s all a bit of a slippery slope in my opinion and I think vinyl is maybe approaching a saturation point
