QUOTE So this weeks no.1 may actually be by a song that isn't the top selling/ most streamed song in the UK this week laugh.gif . As much as I hate Despacito I do hope it somehow clings on this week just so that doesn't happen. Looking at the figures I've recorded for Friday and Saturday it'll do very well to hang on if 300:1 has been applied. If Wild Thoughts avoids a sizeable drop off through to Thursday it should be our new Number 1. I agree with you though and would like Despacito to hold on but the 300:1 ratio looks likely to claim its first major scalp next week. |

I've noticed Wild Thoughts has been decreasing in sales week on week since its been released, if it continues for this week, Descapito could actually cushion the blow a bit. Its going to be very close between them, I actually think Descapito could actually hang on for another week.
06 Jul 68,232 DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller Wild Thoughts 13 Jul 65,051 DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller Wild Thoughts 20 Jul 56,065 DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller Wild Thoughts Descapito has done 72.5k (20 July) If WT drops to 48k to 50k this week it could be very tight, Descapito probably around the same mark |

Based on that decline, I reckon Despacito will be #1 regardless of whether it gets ACR this week or not.

This is why this stupid rule should not apply to number one song or even top three/five/ten as songs are being punished for longevity Next step will be every song after ten weeks will be affected by this rule, then removed from the charts This is manipulating |

Also, there's no way every song over 10 weeks old will be excluded in the future - the OCC have a level playing field for everyone at the moment in terms of criteria, the same rules apply to every song after 10 weeks in the chart, if you look at the bigger picture then it's not particularly THAT bad. |

The new chart rules are like saying Roger Federer shouldn't have been allowed to win Wimbledon for the 8th time today because he's already won it 7 times and should give someone else a chance.

The charts are completely manipulated now in a way they haven't ever been, and sadly there's no changing that. All they're trying to do is breathe life into the industry a bit.

Federer was on ACR and so the game went at double speed for him relative to Cilic - with Cilic's 1st services being served up at 226 mph instead of 123 mph. He did well to still win!

Probably low sales again so hopefully Oh Wonder can outpeak their debut album!
The Vamps possibly midweek #1? their album's not had any real hype but i'd think their fanbase could be enough (there is the Coldplay EP as well, though who knows if that's even eligible~). Bugzy Malone and Joe McElderry should be in for fairly high debuts as well Much as i prefer Wild Thoughts i'd rather it got the #1 spot on its own merit, as opposed to Despacito just losing it on some convoluted technicality :''') (dennispennis' comment put it much better than i ever could ) |

It would be wonderful if Joe McEldery can get a top 10 debut this week with his new album. I really dont know what to expect regarding how it will chart. It could be a number 7 or 63 debut.

Oh Wonder at #3?? not bad for a barely-known group! (even though it likely won't debut anywhere near that high on Friday)

Amazing for the Vamps and would be their first UK number 1 anything
I can't help But feel Ed will get it - but with their signings etc it might be enough of a push |

looks like Wild Thoughts is #1 in the mids then, confirming that Despacito is receiving ACR.
