BuzzJack Music Forum _ Robbie Williams and Take That _ Take That + Solo Singles Rate *Results*

Posted by: acidburn 14th May 2014, 03:59 AM

Right then okay I have decided to start a Take That singles rate and also the current members solo singles as well, I'm not adding Robbie Williams solo singles because he has his own forum and well there are just way too many of them, so it will just be Take That, Gary Barlow and Mark Owen singles. Take That are one of my all time favourite groups, ever since I first heard "It Only Takes A Minute" I was simply hooked, then they broke up a few years later and came back in full force with !Patience" and I just simply fell in love with them all over again. In total they have amassed 27 top 40 singles as a group, 16 top five and 11 of which went to #1 and they are currently one of the world's most successful boy bands ever with 45 million records sold worldwide.

Rules
Rate every song between 1 and 10, you can use as many 10's as you want
You can use just one 11, and that goes for the solo releases as well, like for example you can rate one Gary Barlow single and one Mark Owen single a 11.
You can use the -1 but please no haters.
Half marks are allowed as well

So just rate from the list below, and I will be keeping this forum open for a couple of weeks, so get voting.

Take That have improved a lot with their music!! Their last 3 albums are simply great!!! They have many gems...

Posted by: Aphrodite 24th May 2014, 06:20 PM

The last 3 albums have certainly been their strongest, especially the Circus, i love that album. I agree about all that you want by Gary it deserved more, stronger was such a stupid choice as lead single, i know i have said it a few times, Lie to me should have launched that album as lead single with yesterdays girl and for al that you want the follow ups, i think the album could have experienced a completely different fate. Flop or not i still enjoy 12 months 11 days.

I agree, it's a very good album. I think I remember reading that lie to me was going to be the lead single but for whatever reason it wasn't ready in time so they went with stronger.

It was a bad mistake not releasing Lie To Me as a lead single or a single for that matter. Lie to Me would have completely changed the performance of the 12 months 11 days era.

Take That & Solo Singles Rate Results

50-46

50. Mark Owen - Believe In The Boogie = Avg:4.428

First up and kicking off this countdown at #50, is Mark Owen's single "Believe In The Boogie" scoring a poor 4.428 on this rate. Released in August 2005 as the second single from his third solo album "How The Mighty Fall", and didn't quite set the charts alight by peaking at #57 in the UK charts, becoming his first solo single to miss the UK Top 40, while released Independantly over here, worldwide it was released on the Edel Records label, and made a small dent on the German charts at #78.

49. Take That - Once You've Tasted Love = Avg:5.428

At #49 we have a Take That single drop out, one the band's early releases before they hit the big time. Released in February 1992 where it became the 3rd single taken from they're debut album "Take That & Party" and failed to crack the Top 40 charting at #47 and this would be the last Take That flop single as they faired better with they're follow up singles.

48. Mark Owen - Makin' Out = Avg: 5.571

At #48 is another Mark Owen single to drop out of the chart, and again like #50 is also another single taken from his third solo album "How The Mighty Fall", this time being the lead single, and again not scoring very high scores on this rate, which brought this down to a just 5.571 score. Released in June 2004 and charted at #30 in the UK charts becoming his final UK top 40 hit to date.

47. Take That - Promises = Avg:5.571

At #47 is another early pre fame Take That single and despite getting the same average as Mark Owen's "Makin' Out", I put this higher due to this track getting slightly higher scores. Released in November 1991 and it was the band's second single and became they're first UK top 40 hit peaking at #38 and again taken from the band's first album "Take That & Party and written by band member Gary Barlow and Graham Stack.

46. Take That - I'd Wait For Life = Avg: 5.714

At #46 is "I'd Wait For Life" by Take That. The third single taken from the band's 4th studio album "Beautiful World" in June 2007 and became they're first single in 15 years to miss the UK top 10, peaking at a mere #17 and slipped out the top 40 the following week and also ending they're winning steak of 6 #1's and therefore becoming one of they're least successful singles. It didn't chart in the top 10 anywhere else worldwide either peaking highest in Italy at #13 and cracking the top 40 in Ireland at #32, again ending they're run of top 10 hits since 1992 over there as well. On this rate this track scored quite poorly compared to the album's over singles, apart from one 9 and one 8.

46. Take That - I’d Wait For Life 5.714
47. Take That - Promises 5.571
48. Mark Owen – Makin’ Out 5.571
49. Take That - Once You’ve Tasted Love 5.428
50. Mark Owen – Believe In The Boogie 4.428

45-41

45. Take That - Sure = Avg: 5.78

At #45 is Sure which became the group's 5th UK #1 single in October 1994 and also they're first chart topper to drop out of this rate. Released as the lead single from they're 3rd album "Nobody Else" and marked a change in sound for the group going for a more American R&B sound which polarized their fan base and despite topping the charts it had a pretty quick down fall after that. Worldwide this single hit #3 in Denmark and Ireland as well as top ten positions in Finland, Italy and Belgium. Along with top 20 peaks in Japan, Netherlands and Spain and top 40 peaks in Germany, Swiss, Sweden and Australia.

44. Mark Owen - I Am What I Am = Avg: 5.785

At #44 is another Mark Owen single to drop out, making this his third one out and also his 3rd single released from his debut album "Green Man" in August 1997 and unlike his previous two singles which hit the top 3, this single only managed a #29 peak in the UK charts and led to him being dropped from RCA records and he wouldn't release another single until 2003.

43. Take That - Found Heaven = Avg: 5.928

At #43 is Take That's "I Found Heaven" taken from the group's debut album "Take That & Party" as the 5th single and became they're second UK top 20 hit reaching #15 in August 1992. This was also the first single to feature both Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams on lead vocals and it is much hated by Gary himself stating it as the worst song he has ever recorded. Worldwide this single found success in Japan by reaching #5 and managed a peak of #56 in Germany. On this rate this track scored mainly mixed to muddling votes ranging from 4 and getting no higher than a 8.

42. Mark Owen - Alone Without You = Avg: 6.142

At #42 is yet another Mark Owen single. Released in October 2003 and taken from his second album "In Your Own Time" as the second and final single and despite making a successful comeback with "Four Minute Warning" a few months prior and signing a new record deal, this single failed to match the success by peaking at #26 and due to poor album sales he was dropped from his second record label Island Records, his further material was released Independently.

41. Do What U Like = Avg: 6.5

Just missing the top 40 at #41 is Take That's debut single "Do What U Like" the one with the infamous jelly and leather video. The single peaked at a mere #82 in July 1991 and has never been performed on any of the band's tours to date and is seen as a cringeworthy time of they're lives and again it was the only single left off they're Never Forget Greatest Hits Collection.

Posted by: acidburn 5th June 2014, 07:43 PM

40-35

40. Take That - Why Can't I Wake Up With You = Avg: 6.714

Now kicking off the Top 40 is Take That's "Why Can't I Wake Up With You" released as the lead single from they're second album "Everything Changes" . This single originally appeared on they're first album but however Gary Barlow re wrote the song with a higher tempo and changed lyrics. Released in February 1993 and peaked at #2 as well as charting in the top 10 in Ireland at #7, and #18 peak in Belgium, and became they're second track to chart in Germany at #68.

39. Gary Barlow - Stronger = Avg: 7

At #39 is Gary Barlow's "Stronger" and it is also the first single from him to drop out of this rate. Released in July 1999 after a 2 year break this was Gary's comeback single taken from his second album "Twelve Months and Eleven Days", which marked a immediate change in Gary's sound as it moved towards a more dance type sound and this move didn't prove very popular and Gary Barlow himself didn't want the single released and plus at the time he was having a very rough time from the press, the single stalled at #16 in the UK charts and the album fared even worse and many believed that the album track "Lie To Me" should have been released instead, but at the time giving the rough and totally unfair treatment he was getting from the press, It was said in his documentry that if there was a hit on the album, then it wouldn't have succeeded.

38. Take That - Babe = Avg: 7.071

At #38 is Take That's "Babe" released as the 4th single from they're second album "Everything Changes" in December 1993 and became they're 3rd #1 single in a row, famously knocking off the awful Mr Blobby single, but was knocked back the following week and featured Mark Owen on lead vocals. The track became a hit worldwide by topping the Ireland and Jaoan charts and reaching top 10 in Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Swiss, Belgium and Norway as well as top 20 peak in Austria and top 30 in Italy.

37. Take That - How Deep Is Your Love = Avg: 7.214

At #37 is Take That's final pre comeback single "How Deep Is Your Love" originally sung by The Bee Gees in 1977 and became a #3 hit for them, but Take That took the single to #1 for three weeks, released as the lead single from they're "Greatest Hits" album and was the group's last single for 10 years and became a massive Platinum seller and sung lead vocals by Gary Barlow who truly does this justice, I even favour this over the original and became a beautiful send off for the group and to be honest I thought that this would have had higher rates but it didn't I was the only one who rated this a 10. This track became another worldwide smash for the boys topping the charts in Denmark, Ireland, Italy and Spain, and top 10 positions in Finland, Japan, Belgium, Chile, Swiss, Norway, Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Sweden, as well as a #12 peak in Australia they're final top 20 hit over there to date and even managed to become one of they're few singles to chart in Canada at #80.

36. Mark Owen - Stars = Avg: 7.428

At #36 is Mark Owen's "Stars" making this his fifth single to drop out of this rate. This was Mark Owen's first single released in 8 years and first taken from his 4th album "The Art Of Doing Nothing" and failed to make a dent on the UK charts, but his album managed a top 40 peak at #29 his highest charting studio album to date and his first album to chart in Ireland at #67 and top 40 peaks in Italy and Scotland. On this rate this track did quite well gaining two 10's.

36. Mark Owen – Stars 7.428

35-31

35. Take That - When We Were Young = Avg: 7.428

At #35 is Take That's most recent single to date, taken from the special edition version of they're 6th album "Progress/Progressed" released as a digital single in July 2011 and charted at #88 in the UK without promotion or a physical release, but this track was featured on the Three Musketeers soundtrack and features Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams on lead vocals.

34. Take That - Happy Now = Avg: 7.571

At #34 is "Happy Now" the third single taken from Take That's 6th album "Progress" and was used to mainly promote they're Comic Relief sketch "Fake That". The track was only released digitally where it charted at #52 becoming they're first single since 1992 to miss the UK top 40.

At #33 is Mark Owen's debut solo single "Child" and became his most successful solo release peaking at #3 in the UK charts in November 1996, his debut solo album "Green Man" was released shortly after and didn't fare quite so successfully peaking at #33 but sold 200,000 copies and earning a Gold disc. The single was successful worldwide as well topping the charts in Spain and Taiwan and hitting top 10 Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Swiss and Ireland and top 20 peaks in Finland, Germany, Italy and Japan and top 40 peaks in Netherlands, Sweden and Australia. On this rate despite scoring the same as Take That's "HN" I placed this higher due to this getting two 11's.

32. Take That - Kidz = Avg: 7.714

At #32 is another "Progress" track "Kidz" released as the second single following the mammoth success of the Robbie Williams comeback single "The Flood" and following the same formula as with the previous 2 albums Gary on lead for 1st and Mark taking lead on 2nd single, but this failed to match the success and despite a performance of this track on the 2011 Brit Awards, it only managed a #28 peak on the UK charts, missing the top 20 for the first time since 1992. But this faired better on some worldwide charts reaching top 10 in Hungary and Croatia and top 20 peaks in Denmark, Indonesia and Germany and top 40 peaks in Belgium and Italy, but missed the top 40 in Ireland and Austria.

31. Take That - Reach Out = Avg: 7.714

Shame!!! that shame did not do better, but i am not surprised. It Only Takes a Minute did so much for their career, it saved them i would believe from being dropped and i still like the track, a top 20 position would have been nice for it in this.

25-21

25. Take That - Everything Changes = Avg: 8.071

At #25 is Take That's "Everything Changes" the title track from their second album. Released as the albums 5th single and became another #1, they're fourth in a row in March 1994 for 2 weeks, written by Gary Barlow along with Robbie Williams on lead vocals. Honestly this is actually one of faves from them and thought that this would have been higher than #25 on this rate, but oh well. "Everything Changes" became another worldwide hit for them as well hitting #2 in both Ireland and Denmark and top 10 positions in Japan, Netherlands and Belgium as well as top 20 in Finland and Germany, top 30 in Swiss and Austria, but didn't match the top 40 success's of previous singles in Australia peaking outside the top 50 at #58. On this rate this track scored two 10's and a couple of average scores of 6's and 7's. An interesting fact that the music video was based on Kylie's "Give Me Just A Little More Time" and shot in the same monotone as well.

24. Mark Owen - Clementine = Avg :8.142

At #24 is Mark Owen's - Clementine his second solo single and his seventh single to drop out of this countdown, which means that there is just one song left. "Clementine" was released in February 1997 and hit #3 on the UK charts, matching the peak of previous single "Child" but it had a quicker decline on the charts, lasting only one week in the top 10. But worldwide it didn't quite manage to match the success of his previous hit, apart from Ireland where it hit #10 matching "Child" over there as well, and #2 peaks in Japan and Spain and top 10/20 peaks in Belgium, Italy and Taiwan. On this rate it did quite well gaining mainly high scores of 8's and 9's and only one average score of 6.

23. Gary Barlow - For All That You Want = Avg: 8.166

At #23 is Gary Barlow single "For All That You Want" released in September 1999 and taken as the second and final single from his 2nd album "Twelve Months And Eleven Days"and followed in the downward trend from the previous single "Stronger" and peaked at #24 in the UK charts and the album fared even worse when released in October and limped at #35 which led to him being dropped by Sony BMG and the next intended single "Lie To Me" was cancelled. "For All That You Want" was actually first recorded in 1997 and released in the U.S.A. under the title "Superhero" in an attempt to crack the American market but it failed only managing #106 over there and Gary re done the track and included it on his second album. Worldwide the track didn't find much success apart from a #6 peak in Finland and failed to chart in Ireland, like his previous single and limped at #94 in Germany.

22. Gary Barlow - Sing = Avg: 8.214

At #22 is another Gary Barlow single to drop out of this countdown, making this his fifth out so far leaving 6 left. "Sing" was released in May 2012 and co written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and features a number of artists from across the Commanwealth to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The track reached #1 in the UK charts giving Gary his 3rd solo #1 hit and first since 1997 and the companion album also titled "Sing" also topped the charts and therefore kick starting his solo career again and paving the way for his next solo album which was released a year later.

21. Take That - Up All Night = Avg: 8.642

At #21 and just outside the top 20 by a smidge is Take That's "Up All Night" released in March 2009 and was the 2nd single taken from they're 5th album "The Circus". The track was given a UK and Ireland release only and became the band's 20th top 20 hit and reached #14 in both the UK and Ireland charts, with lead vocals sung by Mark Owen and the track topped the UK airplay chart. On this rate it did very well gaining three 10's and 7's and 8's rest of the way.

19. Gary Barlow - So Help Me Girl = Avg: 8.75

At #19 is Gary Barlow's "So Help Me Girl" making this the 6th single from him to drop out of this countdown. Released in July 1997 and was the third single taken from Gary's debut solo album "Open Road". The single managed a peak of #11 on the UK singles chart which paled in comparison compared to his previous 2 releases which both topped the chart, but it became a moderate success across the world hitting top 10 in Taiwan and Japan and top 20 position in Ireland and top 40 in Australia. The track was even given a USA release as his first single over there and peaked at #44 but fared better on the US Billboard Adult Contempary charts at #3, becoming his first and only single to date to chart on the US Top 100.

At #18 is Take That's "Love Ain't Here Anymore" released as the 6th and final single from they're second album "Everything Changes" in May 1994 and peaked at #3 on the UK charts ending they're run of #1 singles, failing to overtake the mammoth Wet Wet Wet single "Love Is All Around" which was #1 for 60000 years (or seemed like it) and All 4 One's "I Swear" which was at #2 for several weeks. But the track still became a big seller, selling over 200,000 copies in the UK and earned a Silver disc matching the status of the album's previous singles. Worldwide it charted highest in Denmark and Spain peaking at #2 in those countries and top 10 in Ireland, Japan and Finland and top 40 peaks in Belgium, Netherlands, Australia and Germany. The track was even remixed for the American market but failed to make a dent on any of the charts over there.

17. Take That - Love Love = Avg: 8.928

At #17 is Take That's "Love, Love" which is another quite recent Take That single, released in May 2011 and was taken as a single from the digital EP version of Take That's 6th studio album "Progressed". 16. Take That - Back For Good = Avg: 9

At #16 is Take That's "Back For Good" and now this is a surprise I honestly thought that this would have been top 5 at least but Buzzjack have voted, and given the fact that this is they're biggest selling UK single with over a Million copies sold and was the last single to feature Robbie Williams as he left the group but did return 15 years later. Released in March 1995 and was taken as the 2nd single from Take That's third studio album "Nobody Else". It even managed a top 10 peak on the USA charts at #7 they're first and to date only song to chart over there. But becoming the first ever British boyband to manage a top 10 hit over there throughout the 1990's. "Back For Good" has been considered one of Take That's signature's hits and even Robbie Williams recorded a solo version as a b-side to his hit "Angels" in 1997. Even the music video became Iconic as another boyband The Wanted paid homage to it in they're music video "Walks Like Rihanna" in 2012.

Nice results so far.."Makin' Out" deserved to be much higher in this rate. It's not so bad for this average score. "Sure" is the worst song of this rate. "Believe In The Boogie" and "Once You’ve Tasted Love" are not the best effort though. 'When We Were Young", "Kids" and "Reach Out" should be in the Top 30. I thought that "Back for Good would be in the Top 5..

15-11

15. Gary Barlow - Let Me Go = Avg: 9

At #15 is Gary Barlow comeback single "Let Me Go" released in November 2013 as the lead single from his fourth solo album "Since I Saw You Last" and became a massive success hitting #2 in the UK charts becoming his 6th top 10 solo hit and the album matched the single's peak by also peaking at #2. Gary wrote this track while he was on his concert tour in 2012 which sold out in minutes and as soon as he started recording his album he knew that this track would be the lead single. Gary revealed in his documentry that it was written about the loss of his stillborn daughter and he has stated that this song keeps her memory alive and is a celebration and he stated that Johnny Cash inspired the guitar folk nature of this track. The track also went top 10 in Ireland his first solo not duet or group in 16 years and top 40 peaks in Austria and Germany, his first in those countries as well for a number of years, I am happy to say that his comeback success was well and truly deserved.

14. Gary Barlow - Since I Saw You Last = Avg: 9.083

At #14 is another Gary Barlow single "Since I Saw You Last" taken as the third single from the album of the same name. The song itself was written by Gary and tells the story of his struggle for success after Take That's split and the media backlash against him in favour of Robbie Williams and left him on the verge of a breakdown and Gary sings the track with such depth and passion and he stated this track helped him to accept the events of the past and remember the lessons learned. Released in April of this year the track peaked at #65 on the UK singles chart becoming the 2nd highest charting single from that album as well.

13. Mark Owen - Four Minute Warning = 9.357

At #13 is Mark Owen single "Four Minute Warning" making this his final single to drop out of this countdown following (Clemintine #24, Child #33, Stars #36, Alone Without You #42, I Am What I Am #44, Makin' Out #48 & Believe In The Boogie #50). So I'm glad he had at least one solo single in the top 20 of this countdown. Released in August 2003 and peaked at #4 on the UK charts making this his 3rd and final solo top 10 hit. This track was his first released on new record label Island Records and taken from his 2nd solo album "In Your Own Time", this success was promoted by his win on Celebrity Big Brother and the song was based on a public alert conceived by the British Goverment during the Cold War. Although the success of this proved a fluke as his follow up missed the UK top 20 and the album bombed at #59 leading him to be again dropped by his second record label. "Four Minute Warning" managed to became his third and single to chart in Ireland at #37, and peaked at #52 in the Netherlands, and also managed a #17 peak on the Europe Top 100,

12. Gary Barlow (Ft Elton John) - Face To Face = Avg: 9.5

At #12 is Gary Barlow's "Face To Face" another track from his 4th solo album "Since I Saw You Last" and final to featured on this countdown. Released in January of this year and taken as the 2nd single from the said album and didn't quite manage to match the success of "LMG" when it originally charted at #80, but when his documentry aired in March the track re entered the UK charts at #69 (Just goes to show that good quality pop songs don't cut it anymore). When writing for this album Gary knew straight away that he wanted to try and get his Idol and long time friend Sir Elton John to duet with on the track and thankfully he accepted within' an hour and booked in the infamous Abbey Road Studios and recorded the song in 10 minutes. Gary stated that during his wilderness years that Elton John was one of the only people who supported him and so Gary wrote this song as a thank you note to him. "Face To Face" also charted in Ireland due to the documentry peaking at #75 and a #9 peak in Croatia.

11. Take That - A Million Love Songs = Avg: 9.5

At #11 and just missing the top 10 by a minor inch is Take That's "A Million Love Songs" Released in October 1992 and was the 6th single to be taken from they're debut album "Take That & Party" making this the final of that era to drop out of this rate following (It Only Takes A Minute #26, Could It Be Magic #30, Do What U Like #41, I Found Heaven #43, Promises #47 & Once You've Tasted Love #49). The track peaked at #7 on the UK singles chart becoming their 2nd top 10 hit and written by Gary Barlow when he was 15 years old. It was given a worldwide release in January 1993 and managed a #50 peak in the Netherlands and #7 in Japan and even submitted to airplay in the USA but failed to chart. This track has found a lot more praise through the years as it has been covered on X Factor numourous times by such acts as Leona Lewis and JLS and it has been voted by critics and the public as the greatest ballad of all time.

ive always had a soft spot for a million love songs.

Posted by: pippa 10th June 2014, 08:12 AM

It is a song that has aged extremely well, it is a song that appears to still sell although in low numbers and Gary himself seems to have a lot of affection for the song.

The Flood beating Patience comes as bit of a shock to me, I certainly would not have predicted that, that said, I do slightly prefer the Flood so it is a happy shock.

The track became another success for them worldwide, by reaching #2 in Ireland and top 10 in Norway and Australia, as well as breaking top 20 positions in Sweden and Belgium, then top 40 in Germany, Austria, Swiss and Netherlands and first single to chart in Canada and France at #55 and #69,

Great to see 'Said It All' finish top 20 and 'Shine' in the top 10! biggrin.gif

Right now only 5 songs left, 3 Take That songs and 2 Gary Barlow singles who do u think will come out on top

Posted by: pippa 12th June 2014, 08:14 AM

I would be hugely surprised if Take That do not come out on top. Greatest Day is slightly higher than i would like, that said, the song has had wide appeal through different uses.

Posted by: jay727 12th June 2014, 01:52 PM

I'm pleasantly surprised that there are 2 Gary songs in the top 5!

Rule the World will probably come out top

Posted by: pippa 12th June 2014, 02:20 PM

Gary solo has done wonderfully well in this voting, i did not expect that, Rule the World is the likely winner, and if so, i would be happy with that. A huge hit, that continues to sell and regularly appears in the download charts and is approaching its millionth sale would be a very worthy winner in my eyes.

5. Gary Barlow - Open Road = Avg: 9.75

At #5 is the title track from Gary's debut album "Open Road" released in October 1997 as the 4th and final UK single from that album and peaked at #7, faring better than the previous single "So Help Me Girl" which missed the top 10 peaking at #11 and was considered his last successful single until the 2010 release of "Shame". But didn't fare so well in Ireland charting at #29 lower than previous singles and his last to chart over there until 2010 and peaked at #63 in Germany faring better than "SHMG", and one more single from the album was released over there as well "Hang On In There Baby" which peaked at #78 and featured Rosie Gaines on the American release but did nothing over there.

Wonderful position for Forever Love and Open Road came out with an excellent result, i am happy with the solo Gary Barlow love but am a small bit surprised it is his older solo material that well outdone his new material in this vote.

I believe Rule the World will top the result here, but the top 2 is excellent.

i do love open road and forever love and am glad they did well,i do prefer face to face and let me go though.the top 2 songs left are take that classics so i dint mind which wins.

'Rule the World' will probably come out on top (hopefully - it's definitely the better of the two), but wouldn't be surprised if 'Never Forget' won because iconicness.

Posted by: Aphrodite 14th June 2014, 10:21 AM

never forget definetly has the iconess factor,i think rule the world isnt far of icon status but never forget has that great anthem feel

Posted by: pippa 16th June 2014, 08:36 AM

Both are iconic and both songs are songs they will be remembered for in 20 years time and both are songs that will still be gracing our radio stations in 20 years time and more.

2. Take That - Never Forget = Avg: 10

Right then now we are down to the last two Take That singles in this countdown, and coming in at the runner up spot is the iconic "Never Forget" released in July 1995 and taken as the 3rd and final single from they're third album "Nobody Else", and of course became the band's 7th UK #1 single and it was during this time when Robbie Williams left the group, and it turned out that this would be one of their last singles released as they split up the following year. Written by Gary Barlow and sung mostly by Howard Donaldson and became another success worldwide topping the charts in Ireland and Spain, top 5 in Denmark, Belgium, Finland and Italy and top 10 in Swiss, Germany and Netherlands as well as top 20 peaks in Australia, Austria and Norway and top 40 in Sweden, top 50 in France. "Every Guy" was gonna be the 4th single from the album but due to Robbie's departure it wound up being a promo only and another album track "Sunday To Saturday" was issued as a single in Jaoan instead of "Never Forget" where it peaked at #9

1. Rule The World = Avg: 10.428

After the long wait and thanks for your patience, we finally come down to it, the number one Take That song on this countdown is none than other "Rule The World", released in October 2007 and released as the fifth and final single from the special edition version of they're comeback album "Beautiful World" and was used for the soundtrack to the movie Stardust and was submitted for nomination of Best Original Song at the 80th Academy Awards, but failed to get nominated sadly, but that didn't stop this track becoming a massive success by reaching #2 in the UK charts being held off for several weeks by Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love, but it still managed to become the 5th biggest selling single of that year and they're biggest selling single since they're comeback, and remained on the charts for 1year and 5 months, selling 940,000 copies, and still sells to this day and not far of becoming they're 2nd UK million seller. Worldwide it became a success as well after the disappointing performance of "I'd Wait For Life", by peaking at #3 in Ireland and top 10 in Italy and top 20 peaks in Belgium, Germany and Portugal and top 40 in Swiss, Slovakia and Denmark,

Sorry, just realized I am too late!

Good to see Rule the World wins!

Great top 2 and i am happy with rule the world coming out on top as i have always adored the song.

Do we know official sales for Never Forget, i had always assumed it was a song that was close to a million and i seen sales for it sometime back and it was just about certified platinum which surprised me. I am positive its among one of their hits that continuously achieve low download sales regularly.

Glad to see Rule The World came out on top here with Never Forget runner up. Would have expected Patience and Shine to finish higher and am totally amazed that the excellent Back For Good is languishing 10 places behind the quite dreadful (compared to other TT songs) Greatest Day.

Ah well!

Shine should have come higher, and i expected Patience too rate far higher.

up all night did far worse than i expected,i still find it a great uplifting song.

Uplifting it is, it is a song that has a great summer feeling of blue skies, barbecues and beaches.
