As you may know Buzzjack is celebrating its 10th birthday in March, and in honour of the occasion we’re going to be counting down the Top 100 best selling singles of the last decade 2006-2016. All sales have been calculated up to the chart of W/E 04.02.16 and include streams, because of the streaming element it makes estimating especially hard on songs that have not charted over the last few years so I can’t vouch for all tracks accuracy!

I know that lists of best sellers can be found elsewhere on the internet but please DO NOT POST SPOILERS and let’s just enjoy reliving some of the tracks which have got Buzzjack all worked up over the years. The only condition on these songs is that they must have charted for the first time after 2005! Anything before, regardless of how much it sold since 2006 is excluded.

I've tried to cross reference the BPI awards list plus work by Andy and Shireblogger@haven, along with MW, Alan Jones, and some other best selling lists produced by the OCC.

So it's time to say to Buzzjack with the first of many celebrations over the next few months!!

As per usual your contributions are greatly encouraged and appreciated biggrin.gif

Looking forward to this! Will be nice to see how songs from 2006-8 in particular have increased since their height of popularity given the low sales of the time but with the impact of trickle sales and streams. Hope to see some forgotten gems along the way!

Already preparing myself for the inevitable horror of a ton of awesome late-2000s tracks completely blitzed in sales by a load of early-mid 2010s dross...

Not going to ruin it for myself, but it'll be great to follow this biggrin.gif

Already have a good idea of what could be near the top, but I can't really pinpoint a number one so this is going to be a lot of fun following smile.gif

100. WANT TO WANT ME JASON DERULO 879,000

Slap bang up to date with a song that just slipped in at the last minute and remains (to 04.02.16) the last song to spend 4 straight weeks at the top. It has since become his biggest selling single some 7 years into his chart career and 10 top ten hits later, quite an achievement.

99. BANG BANG- JESSIE J, ARIANA GRANDE & NICKI MINAJ 880,000

Still the biggest seller that Ariana Grande ever put her vocal to though of course Jessie J and Minaj have done better. It became the third chart topper for Jessie J, a second No 1 for Grande in just three months, but the first for Minaj who had been trying for 4 years before it finally happened.

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting sales to be that high already! ohmy.gif 'Want to Want Me' has been so overplayed and it was generic pop to begin with, but there's something hugely appealing about it, certainly at the time of its release. 'In My Head', 'What If', 'The Other Side', 'Talk Dirty' and 'Cheyenne' are others I can say I like, plus 'Ridin' Solo' and 'Wiggle' are good when drunk out of your mind, but the rest of his discography are complete horrors, particularly the Robin S sampled track that will remain unnamed.

Jessie J is another hit-n-miss artist - 'Bang Bang' an example of the former. I can proudly say I can recite the Nicki Minaj rap. magic.gif

didn't realise Want To Want Me had sold so much. Not a great start to the top 100 though I must say, the song got boring fast.

Bang Bang is quite good but all artists involved have done better.

To be honest I love "Want To Want Me" probably due to its 80s dancefloor leanings. His golden period will always be 09-10 in my opinion.

98. HALL OF FAME THE SCRIPT FT WILL.I.AM 883,000

Proving that No 1 records can come from “The Voice” UK where the two judges Will.i.am and Danny O’ Donogue met and subsequently decided to work together. Upon hearing it Will.i.am apparently wanted it for his album but The Script held firm to their lead single but gave him a guest spot and, voila, it gave the former Black Eyed Pea his third solo chart topper but a first for the Script.

97. DOMINO JESSIE J 893,000

Many remarked at the time how much this sounded like a Katy Perry record, and in truth it does. The ubiquitous “deluxe version” of her debut album “Who You Are” came in late 2011 and featured three new songs of which this was one and it became her second No 1 single.

96. RUN LEONA LEWIS 894,000

The Snow Patrol original won’t be making the list obviously but Leona Lewis has three entries and here's the first which started out as a performance on Radio 1’s “Live Lounge” where it became the most famous cover version in the show’s history. Lewis recorded it properly the following year and it became, like “Domino”, the lead single from a re-issued debut album, this time “Spirit”. Cleverly after she performed the song on “X Factor” it was widely expected to be available online but Syco held it back to spur “Spirit” back to the top which duly happened then they finally unleased the “single” version which became the fastest selling download of all time (to that point) selling 131k in its first week.

Are you gonna do a 'bubbling under'?

Interesting countdown, otherwise. And as liamk97 said, sales are already so high.
