it pains me to say it - as I love the Brothers Johnson record to bits, and it really should have won ( ) - but I think The Clash got one more points, a record Ive never heard nor felt inclined to dig out, bizarrely. so this may be my opportunity to give it a chance

errr, well, never been a Clash fanatic meself. Just hearing this one right now for the first time - starts off nicely, then quickly becomes a sort of shouty oik version of Mickey. fairly clearly Sham 69 and various others that followed based their entire career on it and other early Clash singles....
Like the fade-out chanting and squealing guitar but the basic song/chorus leaves me a bit ...meh! sorry! Brothers Johnson is way better |
