Posted by: Mack. 12th August 2019, 12:56 PM

This from Irish singer Dermot Kennedy which went into the Top40 at #39 on Friday after being in the Top100 for 8 weeks. This becoming his 1st UK Top40 hit.

What do you make of this?

Well I wanted to send this to bjsc, but it suddenly became a hit 😬😬

Posted by: Mack. 13th August 2019, 12:08 PM

Well this sounds better than 'Someone You Loved', warning an unpopular opinion there.

Posted by: Mack. 19th August 2019, 02:32 PM

And it continues to make progress, up to a new peak of #34 on Friday.

'Outnumbered' managing to continue its steady climb up the chart. Now up to a new peak of #23.

This has been a big hit in Ireland for a while now but its only now I'm getting into it.

Posted by: Mack. 30th September 2019, 04:36 PM

Now reached a new peak of #17 in the UK.

The song sounds halfway between Khalid and Lewis Capaldi in style I would say. I definitely prefer his voice to Lewis Capaldi's.

And once again it continued to make steady progress up the chart. Now up to #14. Yes I agree with you there, Snake. It does sound in the middle between a Khalid/Lewis Capaldi song.

Heading Top 10 now and a Number 1 album.

Posted by: Mack. 14th October 2019, 03:09 PM

Great that this has managed to go Top 10 for him. Prefer this to Lewis Capaldi's offerings this year.

Yet another new peak for 'Outnumbered'. This time peaking at #6.

Posted by: pippa 21st October 2019, 08:07 PM

I think that will result in its peak position.

I’m sure it will recover but surprised the album is still free falling this week.... 1-14-26

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 22nd October 2019, 10:19 AM

Ya I thought it would slow down this week and stay top 20.

Posted by: Mack. 28th October 2019, 04:14 PM

And its 19 week of charting. It has managed to drop, with it dropping one place.

Posted by: pippa 30th October 2019, 03:25 PM

The single is doing wonderful business but the album needs to start recovering from the big drops it has experienced since its debut at number 1.

won't happen
it's what's happening with all regular albums, proper sales only occur in week 1
and after that the cushion to keep you up there is mainly cos of streams...
who is in the top 20 week after week? all those greatest hits like Queen and Fleetwood Mac,
people stream Bohemian rhapsody from any Queen greatest hits, it still counts for the movie soundtrack regardless
or albums that are like a greatest hits in disguise, Dua Lipa, Jax Jones, etc
or big big artists with tracks in seven million playlists like Taylor, Poist Malone, Ed, Lewis Capaldi...

artists like Dermot with just 1 hit cannot do anything stream-wise... and it's even worst for artists like Elbow or Stereophonics that don't even have a streaming hit... watch the fall that Stereophonics are gonna have next week...

the occ are not counting album streams properly, indie artists cannot compete with Post Malone and his songs being in all imaginable playlists... the occ should could only proper album streams and not playlists streams, then things would be different...

Posted by: pippa 30th October 2019, 04:57 PM

I agree that the streams are not counted accurately or fairly with albums and so many great albums are losing out because of it.

Posted by: Mack. 11th November 2019, 04:15 PM

The album continuing its freefall with it dropping 17 places the previous week and 5 places in the recent chart. Album now out of the Top40.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th November 2019, 11:18 PM

Its number 1 here in Ireland for the 5th consecutive week.
