I was hoping for -, but I'll settle with x.
Track list:
The album goes up for pre-order on Monday.
'Nina' clearly written about Nina Nesbitt (I joke)
intrigued to hear Bloodstream and Afire Love
It will be about Nina Nesbitt, seeing as he dated her! I'm intrigued to hear if it's a nice or bitchy track lyrically!
That 4th song better be about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DONT or else I've just lost a lot of respect for Ed ~
I very much like 'Sing' on first listen. So glad that his lead single isn't a ballad as much as I like most of his ballads.
Album cover:
Meh.
'x' and 'sing' covers look soooo tacky
I don't mind that as a cover tbh, I mean it's extremely plain and simple but his debut didn't have an interesting cover either. Think I prefer this one.
Apparently Don't is about Ellie Goulding cheating on him (possibly with Niall Horan) at a party they both attended

If Sing is Like I Love You and Don't is Cry Me A River, then what's going to be Rock Your Body?
'Afire Love'
Oh and it's 'Like I Love You' - GAHD.
the artwork for this era i think is amongst the worst i've ever seen.
Dunno if it's been mentioned, but the next Martin Garrix single features Ed on vocals.
Garrix just confirmed in a Coachella interview.
'One' has been released as an instant download from the album pre-order. Sounds really good from the preview!
One sounds really nice on first listen. Still struggling to get into SING currently. I guess that's the similar situation with The A Team at first too
This is the only Ed Sheeran song you need at the moment. So beautiful And I hate the original of "I See Fire"!
Oh my god at the lyrics to Don't. Oops Ellie!
Ed Sheeran is an incredible artist! Has anyone seen his live shows? Immense.
This album is shaping up really well. I love all the elements of "Afire Love", absolutely gorgeous track. Melodically it reminds me of "Old School Love" that he did with Lupe Fiasco.
I really wish it was the Kygo remix of "I See Fire" included on the deluxe edition, because if it were, then the album would be shaping up to be one of my favourites of the year. I've only heard the live performance of "Don't", but it and "Afire Love" are both gorgeous. I'm not a huge fan of "One" but I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.
'Thinking Out Loud' is the latest track to be made available from the album and is definitely my favourite so far!
Thinking out loud is AN AMAZING song. live performance of it on Jools a couple of weeks ago was completly out of this world ridiculous. Really can't wait for him to perform his new stuff when he tours again......
'Thinking Out Loud' sounds like an instant classic. It has the potential to be massive, particularly in the US, I feel. It would have also been an appropriate name for the album if he wasn't such a whore for mathematical symbols .
'Afire Love' is my favourite from the few that I've heard so far though - absolutely gorgeous. This rarely happens to me but I heard it for the first time last night and by about the halfway point it hit me and I realised I needed to concentrate properly on every word and had to start it again. Played it about ten times since. It's clear why he's so in-demand as a songwriter.
'Bloodstream' is definitely a grower. Love the layered vocals. It was annoying me for ages but his voice reminds me of Ben Howard on it, particularly on the 'brokenheaaaarted' parts!
'The Man' is pretty deep. Don't know if it's a coincidence or a reference to the '27 Club' of Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morisson etc. but talking about being dead by 27....
The album's leaked. I'm just listening to bits and pieces from it and Nina is very good, I went to it first because I was intrigued about the lyrics, as it's obviously about Nina Nesbitt. It's not an Ellie style attack at least and the music is lovely (and the intro is like a distorted version of the intro to Spin My World by DJ Kent )
I had a listen to the album earlier, it's really good as a whole and less samey than + was. My favourites are I'm A Mess, Thinking Out Loud and Afire Love right now but there isn't one track I dislike.
This album is full of surprises isn't it. Lyrically, musically, on all levels. I'm surprised because as much as I loved it, + was incredibly safe and a complete misrepresentation of his diversity as an artist.
The verses of The Man are proper rap not sing/rap like he usually does
Sing's only just clicked with me and I love it now but haven't heard anything else yet. Loved + so will buy X on Monday.
Not massively keen on the album, I wasn't a huge fan of the first but really liking One and Photography. Both surely crying out to be singles, although I know the former has had quite a lot of exposure thus far.
'Thinking Out Loud' has managed to overtake 1 of the tracks released after it and is about to overtake a 2nd, so it looks like it must be getting a lot more individual sales relative to the others. Hopefully this indicates it should be a single!
It deserves to be one, it sounds like a lost soul classic. That and Don't are the easy album highlights for me thus far.
I don't get the fuss with One at the moment, I can't remember how it goes and I've apparently notched up 7 plays of it so far.
Colour me SHOCKED. The album is pretty good. So varied. Don't, Runaway and The Man (those guitar tracks in the chorus *.* ) are my favourites I think.
Inside the album booklet behind the lyrics to Don't there's a sketch of Ed kissing a girl who's facial features are crossed out. But her hair and body shape looks a hell of a lot like Ellie Goulding
I feel a little sorry for Ellie in all of this. I'm all for artists being explicit and honest in their songs but he's made it completely obvious that she's the subject of 'Don't' and as a result, she's going to get a lot of Twitter abuse from immature fans as well as interview questions etc. about it. By his own admission in the lyrics, they were never going out so it's not as if his public shaming of her is even particularly warranted. He comes out of it a little bitter and clingy TBH! I wonder if he regrets some of the phrasing in the song as maybe he thought he was being more cryptic than he was.
Also, I read an interview with him where he said that 'Sing' is about a very famous person and that nobody knew that. My money's on Taylor Swift .
Yeah, I'm really surprised how frank he's been on Don't and it's probably a little out of order, as he obviously wanted more from the fling than she did.
I think it's fair to say Ellie and Ed aren't going to be best of friends after this. I'll watch eagerly to see what happens when they both next turn up at the same event or whatever.
Thinking Out Loud is great but seriously, he has turned from one of my favourite artists to my least. Every time I hear him in an interview or something else now being cocky as f*** it irritates me.
I guess I'm the only one who adores 'Nina'
I love Nina <3 my faves would be that, Runaway, Thinking Out Loud, The Man, Take It Back and of course Sing/Don't.
Getting back into 'Photograph' in a pretty big way lately. Such a beautiful, stunning little song. Definitely my favourite from the album.
Just bought this album (blindly) and I'm halfway through. Pretty impressed so far! I'm just worried that it'll be a bit same-y for 17 tracks long.
Favorites so far are 'One' and 'Nina'. Not too keen on 'I'm a Mess'.
Vocally he reminds me of Ryan Adams at times, most notably in 'One'.
'Sing' has clicked with me, pretty much half a year after its release I think it's due to it being hammered on that damn advert
I have finally given this a listen.
It is an album of two halves - when he is stripped back doing ballads it is really quite wonderful: Thinking Out Loud, Photographs, One, Afire Love et all are stunning. When he goes on one of his faux-swag trips though it's very unlistenable for me (in particular 'The Man' which is just bad). Still don't get how 'Don't' and 'Sing' were so big either.
Also what is going on with the tracklisting order? Very very jittery flow between A LOT of the tracks and it's such a pet hate of mine when it seems like the artist can't listen to the album back and try and add some structure to it to make it make sense musically a little more.
But i enjoyed the album a lot more than i thought i would and i have made a fair few wonderful discoveries out of it, so yay for that
Just had to post this review The Guardian gave the Wembley Stadium show. It's not often I agree with every word a broadsheet critic writes but in this instance, I do: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/jul/12/ed-sheeran-singer-acoustic-guitar-effects-pedal-complete-triumph
My good uni friend and her sister were at the final show last night. It has apparently been filmed for a DVD release so I shall look forward to that.
^ The profit they're making on those shows must be crazy ! He turns up with his guitar and loop pedal and manages to captivate 87,000 people for two hours. Say what you like about him/his music but that is seriously impressive!
I know, right? I kick myself repeatedly I didn't get to see him live at my student's union before it all went off for him. But it's proof he can capitivate any audience, whatever size crowd he's performing. That's the mark of someone who's gonna be in it for the long run career wise.
I'm surprised the Rudimental version of "Bloodstream" isn't on there and that "All Of The Stars" has been removed
I love how the music industry seems to think releasing on the 13th November is better than releasing the following week when Adele does - you may not get a #1 against Adele but you could still debut higher than in a week where they'll be lots of debuts. I know this doesn't matter in regards to x but it's just a thought that came to me just generally speaking.
Very true, it will end up at #3 at best behind 1D and Justin, possibly lower, but I guess it's already been #1 before so it won't bother him that much.
At least The Corrs still have a clear and easy path to #1 on Nov 27th. Adele's second week could nevah.
I'd say #1 is probably wishful thinking for The Corrs gooddelta. Easy top 10 yes, but '25' is basically going to be to this Christmas what 'Progress' was for Take That in 2010.
Bit peeved I'll have to buy the album again but glad we are getting the DVD of the film at least as I missed it when it was in cinemas last week!
I would love to see The Corrs go number 1 but it will never happen unfortunately I am happy Ed is doing a re-issue as he is in with a shot of keeping ahead of Sam Smith to hold the number 2 slot in best selling album of the year, we all know Adele has the number 1 in the bag. I didnt buy X yet as i had a feeling a re issue would come so im buying the new version. The re issue could help X reach 3 million sales which would be fantastic.
Finally took the plunge and got the Wembley Edition of the album on sale the other day, watching the DVD right now. This has just increased my respect of him tenfold, I've got goosebumps watching it. You can have all the bells and whistles on and play a gig of that stature, but he goes and sells out Wembley Stadium three f***ing times with just him and a guitar. I admire that so little has changed about him as a performer within the time he's been around, the simplicity of what he does is so powerful and wide reaching. Much respect.
Photograph from this album is now 3X platinum!!
Do many other non top ten songs have 1,800,000 “sales”?
Pretty impressive for a #15 peaking track.
That is an impressive result for Photograph which i regard as one of his best songs.
