I originally thought Aeroche would win but I'm now leaning more towards a FARC win and Aeroche 2nd place.

I probably won't be here for the majority of this, as I have other things I need to be doing. Sort of expecting an underperformance here top 20 as predicted would be fab, anything higher than Ulay Oh's peak of 27th would be great (pessimism worked in the semi threads, it can work again ;o)

FARC would be a wonderful winner (I honestly can't see what other song would have attracted 75% of the votes), failing that Vulkyria would also be great. Or Fljotavik/Trifoski if that's even possible.

Guys, it doesn't say that the country that got points from 75% of the other countries won. It could have scored 1 point 43 times.

Let's not leap to conclusions here. There has been plenty of occasions where there has been songs that are quite well liked, picking up points from everywhere, but no really high points and thus not going on to win.

Hyped for this to begin, hopefully it's a little prompter than the 5 hour epic of last month's results (no t no shade ethan) but if FARC have stormed it as much as some people seem to think then I guess we'll know the winner pretty soon anyway. Aiming for top 20 since I'm expecting my points to come from a select few giving me big points but not much else but hey, couple years ago I'd have killed for the kind of consistency across the last three contests as I've (probably) got here so no complaints this end.

FARC or Aeroche FTW pls

Desbuanda you are on FIRE this year *.* We always love a bit of Spanishyness but even moreso when it's as swag as this. I just can't get enough of the combination of that incredible production (or #paellaprodux as Leww would say) with those confident vocals that just work so well alongside. I'll be bopping along to this one for months and months I can already tell. Have a first ever medal position from me! In hindsight 'Matadora' should've got more from me as well!

Now for more of a staple of my high points, Terra Avium! Oh my gosh Chez this is just breathtaking. I get goosebumps every time from that gorgeous combination of piano and strings. I can't believe I passed up on this as a potential (but then again I passed up on a winner too so what do I know). Anyway, you are so good at hitting me emotionally with your entries! With the likes of 'I've Been Secretly Falling Apart', 'Miracles' and now this! This probably would've got 18 most other months but this month my 18 was extremely obvious from the get go. Still, a silver position is amazing so yay! Absolutely stunning entry.

18 Aeroche | Polyna - Angel (Club Mix)

Oh my god you would not believe my excitement when I discovered that you had sent this song this month. After you unleashing it on plug.dj last year and me falling in love with it, this moment has finally happened a year later! This could just not go to anything else. This song is so extremely thrilling for me, the way it builds up and then suddenly the utter euphoria of the chorus hits me out of nowhere. Nicky Romero really did well with this. I just remember you showing me this song just before hard times were about to hit (as you actually offered it to me as I couldn't be there to confirm for bjsc 77 on time and had nothing else besides Koven) so it was nice that this was one of the main songs I attribute with getting through said hard times. So yes, have this juicy 18 LewwLeww! Just 2 months after you gave me an 18, I am so glad I can return the favour because this really is spectacular <3

This final had higher viewing figures than expected despite slightly lacklustre reaction to the semi-finals and our own non-qualification ;o Commiserations go to Botanikka (who we hope can still slay on our behalf nonetheless #middleeasternbloc) and Ultraviolenceland who sadly just missed out on points.

Our top marks go once again to the big standout and ~unique~ dance entry of the month, so far this year we've had an anime hard trance remix, an ominous chanting psytrance remix and an oldskool rave jam so the logical next step was an Australian Aboriginal Yolngu language political protest song dance remix. Of course. Singerpurear going well outside of the box and providing another wonderful and unique entry, which sees them top the Persephonian televote for the first time. Some love also to two other archival picks in the final, as Land of DW continued Botanikka's 90s trance legacy and pick up 11 points while a point also goes to Tartford with Alex Gaudino's debut single, surprising it wasn't a big hit in the UK so nice to discover it now! And we also throw our support behind three other foreign language tracks: the bae language of Spanish represented by both our 13 pointer Desbuanda (#paellaprodux) and our 10 pointer Trifoski (#frittatafierceness), while Vülkyria pick up 7 points with their Ndebele/Zulu track, giving us strong 'Sunchyme' / Lion King / 'Baba Yetu' dance-ified vibes making it one of their best entries to date. N DNTN's witch house beaut / doorstopper anthem gets the silver prize of 15 points, Harmonica finally get some more points from us, getting 12 points for their slice of glorious distortion, tennis court anthems from Pupok and Beaverdonia get 9 and 6 points, Séyetana stand out from the crowd once again with bagpipe rock *.* earning them 8 points, a big grower from Syndare earns 5 points, Jadakissnia provide the glorious synths once again and get 4 points, Yehesi's autoqualifier and certified bop gives them points for the third time this year, 3 of them this time, and finally we just had to award a couple of points to the ~experience~ that is our fellow Year 7 orchestra friends Ethanola. A bit of a mess but in all the right ways.

I think why this one first caught my attention so much was that wonderful instrumental backing, I’m trying to think what it reminds me of so much but I’m really drawing a blank there. But then we go into the vocal duel that is the duet on this, and any track I can describe as that is one I’m very into. So many lovely contrasts in one song package, building up to a very worthy climax of cool twisting sounds. I really hope this does well for you Dandy*, it’s been a marvellous discovery.

15 Land of DW | RMB – Spring
Well, if this track has been around for 20 years, I’m glad I finally got introduced to it. The title ‘Spring’ made me think this was going to be some sort of classical dance, and I guess we’re sort of there if you substitute ‘classical’ with ‘incredibly 90s’. The loud dance overtures are what Land Of DW does best when you turn to dance, and the little vocal points complete the track wonderfully. Very close to the top spot, but not quite.

13 Federal Republic of Ashton | Evelina - Honey (feat. Mikael Gabriel)
I guess my Finnphilia is back, not that it ever went away, and I predict a bit of a Finn smash for this one, which, if I am right, yet another one to follow Tequila. I hope to find one of them soon. Honey is very much what I think of when I think Finnish pop but it has several sharp little moments that make me love it, Evelina’s vocal style is in, out, build up for a big chorus, it all comes together brilliantly. Meanwhile, Mikael Gabriel makes his presence worthwhile by throwing in an unexpected Netflix and chill in there.

12 Trifoski | Javiera Mena - Otra Era
Otra Era is well-named, because it feels timeless. I’ve known this for a while through Seven, and I loved it partly because I was very interested in an artist from Chile making a song I loved, but also because it builds so well , throughout, it’s very clear and pleasing musically, some almost classical undertones in the instrumentation. But yeah, it’s brilliant and this should be a HUGE success for Trifoski.

11 Harmonica | Sleigh Bells - A/B Machines
I don’t know nearly as much Sleigh Bells as I should. Infinity Guitars is so good that I’m surprised I never listened to its accompanying album, and if I had, I’d have found this gem on it. It’s grindy and loud but that’s basically what noise pop means and I am currently very happy to put that sort of sound on repeat. Thank you for reminding me that this band exists Jordan.

10 Taahino | Icon For Hire - Now You Know
I hope this can do as well as I originally hyped, if Girli could, this surely must. I’ve been following Icon For Hire for ages and this is one of their triumphs if completely divorced from their normal sound. Quick wit in the lyrics, ‘our interviews, our bios, they all make it a point, ”female fronted band from Decatur, Illinois” ’ is one of my favourite lyrics this year. And actually, while I wasn’t so keen on it on first listen, after several more, it’s revealed itself as a pretty jammy rock-rap song.

09 Terra Avium | Hiatus - Precious Little
I’m so amazed and pleased this qualified, up to now, I thought little emotional piano instrumentals like this would get no support but apparently they can. And that’s a good thing, because even without anything emotionally specific to attach this too, unlike many of the piano instrumentals I love, this is a very beautiful and emotional piece, majestic in its beauty. Claps once again, Terra Avium, you’ve brought me to tears.

08 N DNTN | John The Baptiste – Socila
What a come up for a song that I thought would do nothing for me on the first couple of listens, to give you an indication of how close this has gotten, this was close to getting into my top 5. Socila is so pleasingly rhythmic and in its own understated way, euphoric, that once it got under my skin the only way was up for it. Smash expectations N DNTN.

07 Vülkyria | The Flavor – Shosholoza
You know, talking down a song’s chances doesn’t mean I don’t like it, I’m on board Vulker, I was from the semi, because this type of African chanting is infectious and pretty much always a winner with me. If it actually could do as well as Baba Yetu I’d be very pleased, it gives me those same vibes, I feel like it may fall short but please prove me wrong.

06 Ramrynia | Julian Perretta – Miracle
Based on his last entry, I’d never have called myself giving points to this. But I do like Schulz-esque dance, and this is quite an anthem when it gets down to it, especially with the choir backing vocals. Congratulations Ryan, you’re back to points after almost two years of snubbing you in the final. And now I have to be annoyed at you for not waiting a couple of months more to become good so we could have gone a full 20 contests (ny2).

05 Espen | Sweet Coffee - My Moon
Slick and cool, I’m very drawn in by the vocals here, they remind me of the sort I’d love in earlier BJSCs for sounding different but not abrasively so.

04 New Lexico | Kelly Sweet - Ashes Of My Paradise
Yeah, this is quite the tune. I expect it to do very well, I did know it before but this is about the region I’d put for it anyway, a solid 9/10 song.

03 Ultraviolenceland | SKIES – Drone
An unexpected and good turn from Ultra, I appreciate both the longing calls on the chorus and the subtly merging vocals from both the guy and girl, interesting band.

02 Botanikka | Meghan Kabir - Tu Ba Mani
Beautiful Eastern-sounding ballad, I’d like this to outperform expectations but I fear it won’t, a brave choice and something I’d never have heard otherwise, thanks Addy.

01 FSR Rontvia | KOLAJ - The Touch
A very cute tune that won me over enough for a point at the last moment. Nearly thought Rontvia wouldn’t make my points this time but they managed it in the end.

Usfland, Singerpurear, Altyr Muunlinst and Unovia were very very close, and well, I’ll say it because they’re the two odds-on favourites and people ~~might~~ won't be interested, FARC and Aeroche were the next two after that.

Is that yet ANOTHER contest where I finish on a tiebreak with 10th/am actually in 10th (although 9th this time, which means this doesn't count towards that same position record I'm chasing) I am magnetically sealed on the edge of the top 10. Not a bad area to be though, I'll happily take another top 10 and a peak for the year.

Ooh I'm happy with 25th! My goal was to beat last months position of 35th so to go a whole 10 places higher is fab. Especially when I was lingering in the 30s area for absolutely ages! The 3 15s in particular was great. <3 Thanks to everyone who voted for 'Sentient'! And slay at back-to-back Jadaphonia 25th place finishes. x

Fabulous that my 18 Polyna finished in the top 5! And my favourite surprise was my 15 Terra Avium grabbing a top 10 position!

OMG top 10, that barely ever happens for me *.* I thought top 15 was my benchmark here, especially for a piano instrumental, so thanks all so much, I'm over the moon, truly!

Shame that apart from FARC/Vulk, none of my other votes finished top 10 but very respectable positions for Fljotavik/Trifoski. Four absolutely amazing discoveries from this contest, obsessed with them all <3

'Save It' breaking 2 records - beating 'Safe With You' for most votes received in a contest as I posted earlier ~ and it has also finally broken the long-standing record for highest points in a semi-final! Previously held since BJSC19 by Eva Simons' 'Silly Boy' (170 points). It also managed 44.54% of the available points in the final which puts it 7th of all time for that.

Pupok so close to getting three 5th places in a row! That consistency. x Wow at Terra Avium sneaking into the top 10, I'm still not really a fan myself but it's nice for a song like that to have done so well (should have been 'Miracles' though)! Just realised this is also a bit like M83 again, (i.e. another Terra Avium instrumental top 10 that I don't really care for lol ~) And actually 18th in the end for Yothu Yindi is pretty decent! Woo.

Oh my days! Absolutely ecstatic for getting another medal position in the space of only a couple months! Still hunting for that Gold medal! Hoping I can give you another anthem next month!
And another 2nd place in the SF! Consistent!

So happy to have one of the most voted entries in both the SF (most votes) and the Final (most 18s)! Reception to "Shosholoza" has minimal in the SF stage so I prepared for a less than great result. I'm glad the track was enjoyed as much as this!

And a thoroughly deserving winner! It was on the cusp to get a lower scorer from me but I felt it didn't need as much support as some other tracks. Kylienips was a beaut. Stunning track that deserved a medal much more than their winner.

One of the best contests overall. Congrats to Oliver as well for a fabulous hosting!

it's a genre I enjoy and I have a few more potentials which are even a bit more crazy, who are similar to GIRLI and RWL but yeah, like I was last month as well I'm still surprised these two have done as well as they have! no complaining though, I'm really happy with the results obviously

Was definitely expecting more vocal hate though, like you said it is very polarising!

I'm moving away from Girli and Rich White Ladies next month don't worry, but it's definitely still like nothing I've ever sent before

i just once more wanted to say thank you to everyone that voted me; i could never have expected something i sent to have dominated so much. i remember entering this contest a few years ago for the first time and winning on my first shot, thinking this is pisseasy. so many times since i've hoped and really waned to do well and falling by the wayside and essentially giving up and thinking i could never succeed again, esp after paulini...but forget that, persist, in bjsc you never know what'll happen next

I think I'm set on an entry. I don't want to overhype it and be disappointed but I feel like it's possibly one of the most wide appealing songs I've ever sent (if I do send it ~~). Though that may just mean it gets a lot of 3 points and nothing more than that. It's indie pop featuring synths. Basically a big departure from the polarising / abrasive Persephonia entries of the last few contests xx

Very late congratulations to Jake for the resounding win! Absolute stormer of a song and such a satisfying victor, despite any predictability factor.

The top three were in my own top four so I've very little to complain about. Seeing Terra Avium at #10 is particularly awesome - what an achievement for a track of its kind.

Great outing for Desbuanda too in placing 27th given the track was always going to polarise. I'm pretty sure it didn't feature in any commiserations yet got two 18s (TY Dandy and Harve!) and a few more big scores (Brade ), so that gives an idea. Cheers to everyone who gave it some love - it's become one of my favourite ever entries.

Big thanks to Oliver for all the hard work and creativity and skill and execution. The whole thing was flawless (other than that one point you tried to steal from Jade for us <3).

As there's no green room to discuss potentials yet, I've now got another potential (a recent song that's growing on me fast) but I'm not sure how it would translate to a BJSC audience.

It's not a Danaelanda entry in the traditional sense but it definitely falls under the EDM umbrella.

Also got another one but with the amount of views it has on YouTube (and it's charted in a few places) it's probably a veto but could get through if the mods are having a nice day.
