If Liz wins she'll be the second Atomic Kitten member in Eurovision. Jenny did it in 1999 with Precious.

Oh yeah! I'd forgot about that!
Right well so far I've only heard two of the songs. Big Brovaz has a catchy chorus, but rap just doesn't do well at Eurovision. Brian Harvey's song is currently a bit dull and could do with a bit of a re-arrangement. They're also well over four minutes each, so will need cutting down.
Hoping Liz won't make it!! She's a very weak singer and I can smell another nul points should she get to the final. I've not heard of this Cyndi person, but from what I've heard she could be the girl with a powerful voice and a big ballad that we need!! She could do a Daz Sampson and steal the show!
There's no way in hell Scooch will make it, but I used to listen to them when I was younger, and liked them more than Steps, so I'm just enjoying the fact that they've reformed!!
I'm rooting for Hawkins and Brown. I can't listen to the clips at the moment, but I'm hoping that the song won't disappoint, as these two have potential to finish top 10. Maybe Cyndi too.
Anybody heard the songs yet?

Scooch!!!
Perhaps Big Brovaz would have had more success under the name Booty Luv :-)

The official date for MYMU is Saturday 17th March. This means we will be the last country to select our song. The BBC have permission from the EBU to go past the deadline and everything is Ok.
The venue will hold a thousand people, and this late date means that we will be in the unusual position of knowing our place in the running order without actually knowing our song!

As somebody very correctly said on ESC Today, the Irish don't get slated for not sending U2 and the Spanish don't get slated for not sending Enrique Iglesias, so why is everybody complaining about the list?! We were never going to have Robbie Williams or the Scissor Sisters were we
Posted by: Peter30 Feb 28 2007, 04:06 PM
After listening to the songs, despite saying how we need a girl with a ballad I am absolutely appalled at Cyndi's entry!!!
It reeks of "You Raise Me Up" to such an extent it defies belief!! Should be disqualified without a doubt

Yeah true, the UK, Spain, France or Ireland will never send a major star to Eurovision.

I'm sure if we approached the Scissor Sisters they'd be up for it next year, it is SO their scene

well never say never
some pretty familiar names this year with partly international succes but i'm yet to hear the clips and than judge

ARE scooch in the contest
Posted by: JON Mar 1 2007, 10:37 PM
Lol Brian Harvey's song which after hearing a 30 second clip I don't think will win, has been wrote by Grant Mitchell lol and also like some of you have mentioned, Cyndi really should not have been chosen to even compete in the 'Making Your Mind Up' show as it really is a complete and utter rip off of 'You Raise Me Up'. Having said that I don't think we should be too concerned as I don't think she will win either. Justin Hawkins and Beverlei Brown look like they have a real chance of winning. From the clip it sounds a really good, catchy tune which I can imagine doing very well in The Eurovision Song Contest. Liz McClarnon's 'Don't It Make You Happy' doesn't sound bad but also like someone earlier on mentioned, it really does sound like 'Son Of A Preacher Man'. Scooch's 'Flying The Flag For You' sounds just like I imagined when I heard the title - a Steps rip off which sounds a bit like 'A Deeper Shade Of Blue'. Out the the 30 second clips I have heard, I feel that Hawkins and Brown look huge favourites followed by Liz McClarnon and then third place between Brian Harvey and Big Brovaz.

You don't have to be English to enter for England, Germany had Australians last year, and Britain won with an American band in '97

From Radio Times:
Saturday 17 March
7:30pm - 8:30pm
BBC1 Midlands Song for Europe
Saturday 17 March
9:30pm - 10:00pm
BBC1 Midlands Song for Europe
Which is annoying as it clashes with Primeval.
At least it doesn't with Dancing On Ice though.
Also, it appears to have been renamed "Song For Europe", but I think that's a mistake on Radio Times' behalf.

I'm glad it's only an hour long! No filler, unlike alot of other national finals this year!

Hmm listening to longer clips, I'm actually really liking Cyndi's song. I think this could do well for us. Can't stand Brian Harvey's attempt, Big Brovaz will just flop, Hawkins & Brown are pretty good, and I'm yet to listen to the other two again.

It doesnt matter where the singer/act are from, the song has to be written by someone from said country.
I believe Celine Dion, a canadian, represented Switzerland at ESC 88, her song was written by a Swede.

In fact, the songwriter rule isn't even in existance any more. Some countries choose to have that rule, but take Thomas G:Son for example. He is Swedish, and has written the songs for both Spain and Norway this year!

Knowing the moronic British public, they will vote this in. It will really be the end if Scooch get in, and it will be final proof that Eurovision means absolutely nothing here, and that the British see it as a big joke.
I'm not exagerating.

All Kinds Of Everything agree with me saying that Liz McClarnon's song DOES sound like Son of a Preacher Man muahaha. AKOE are pretty harsh on all our acts giving:
Liz McClarnon: 1.5 stars.
Brian Harvey: 2.5 stars.
Big Brovaz: 1.5 stars.
Cyndi: 1.5 stars.
Scooch: 0.5 stars.
Hawkins & Brown: 1 stars.

And we WOULD have got votes off them had their televote system not f***ed up and them had to use an emergency back-up jury.

I'm telling you, there is some sort of spirit out there DETERMINED to get me not to watch Eurovision ever again.
This year's contest is on my mate's birthday and now tomorrow night I'm going out so will miss MYMU.
And in 2005 I missed MYMU because of my mum's birthday and was going to go to a mate's for his birthday - another person to this year's
- and I missed 2004's due to him again and almost missed last year's for him again though he decided to cancel his party as we had exams.
I don't much care about missing MYMU though I mustn't miss the real thing again.
It is time for you to make a choice between Eurovision and your mate

I've just heard the full version of Hawkins and Brown's 'They Don't Make Them Like They Used To Do' and whilst it is a good little catchy song, it is slightly kareoke / cabaret and if it wins 'Making Your Mind Up' which I feel it will, then I'm really not that sure it will do much better than last years superb and very underated 'Teenage Life' by Daz Sampson which imo should have came top 5 in 'The Eurovision Song Contest' if not won. I'm not really sure what Europe will make of Hawkins and Browns song. I do like it but I slightly prefer Liz McClarnons 'Don't It Make You Happy' and feel that it would do slightly better in 'The Eurovision Song Contest' than Hawkins and Browns 'They Don't Make Them Like They Used To Do'.
