#25. Outside (featuring Ellie Goulding)

Rate score: 6.98/10
Highest rate score: 10 (George.keh, Josh!)
Lowest rate score: -1 (WhoOdyssey)
2018 rate position: 10 of 44
2014 rate position: N/A

Year of release: 2014
Album: Motion
UK Chart position: #6
YouTube views: 534.7m (MV)
Spotify streams: 525m

Let's kick off this set with one of the Ellie collaborations, which turns out to be "Outside". The strings throughout the production sound cool and it elevates the song into another level, being complemented by Ellie's vocals.

---

#24. You Used To Hold Me

Rate score: 7.02/10
Highest rate score: 10 (lewistgreen, Juan Carlos)
Lowest rate score: 4 (gog_lad84, blacksquare)
2018 rate position: 33 of 44
2014 rate position: 11 of 21

Year of release: 2009
Album: Ready For The Weekend
UK Chart position: #27
YouTube views: 9.7m (MV)
Spotify streams: 32.9m

"You Used To Hold Me" is massive and one of my all-time favourite songs from Calvin. Hands down. The production is simply hypnotic with those build-ups, as well as his raspy voice, which I missed so much to listen to on his songs. Also, whoever thought to shoot him DJing in a monster truck should get a raise.

---

#23. The Girls

Rate score: 7.16/10
Highest rate score: 10 (Nina West, WhoOdyssey, Jade)
Lowest rate score: 3 (Bjork)
2018 rate position: 27 of 44
2014 rate position: 13 of 21

Year of release: 2007
Album: I Created Disco
UK Chart position: #3
YouTube views: 9.5m (MV)
Spotify streams: 13.7m

If there's a song which introduced me to Calvin Harris, it was definitely this one. I mean, who would have thought that I was going to stan for this guy 13 years ago? "The Girls" is a little bit repetitive, but it's so catchy that it can't get out of your head.

---

#22. I Need Your Love (featuring Ellie Goulding)

Rate score: 7.27/10
Highest rate score: 10 (Bjork)
Lowest rate score: 0 (WhoOdyssey)
2018 rate position: 14 of 44
2014 rate position: 17 of 21

Year of release: 2012
Album: 18 Months
UK Chart position: #4
YouTube views: 784.3m (MV)
Spotify streams: 321.9m

Two years ago, "Outside" performed better than "I Need Your Love" in the singles rate. Nowadays, this is viceversa. "I Need Your Love" was my first introduction to Ellie Goulding and the track is included on both Halcyon and 18 Months. Also, I wish the original music video, shot by AG Rojas, wasn't scrapped, although we wouldn't have had a PDA music video between Calvin and Ellie, directed by Emil Nava.

---

#21. I'm Not Alone (CamelPhat Remix)

Rate score: 7.34/10
Highest rate score: 10 (Stu1985)
Lowest rate score: 5 (Josh!, blacksquare, SevenSeize, Jonjo)
2018 rate position: N/A
2014 rate position: N/A

Year of release: 2019
Album: N/A
UK Chart position: #66
YouTube views: 20.8m (AV)
Spotify streams: 14.5m

Commemorating the tenth anniversary of "I'm Not Alone", Calvin decided to re-release the track and drop an EP with two new remixes from CamelPhat and Thomas Schumacher, as well as a new edit and a remaster version of the song. The CamelPhat remix received more attention, although this release was labeled as "I'm Not Alone 2019".

I didn’t know there was a second unseen video for I Need Your Love!

Also, You Used To Hold Me is an underrated stomper

Can't believe both Ellie songs missed the top 20 especially behind some of the songs yet to come, they both deserve a bit more love. Glad INYL did come out on top of the two though. 21st is a pleasing position for INA 2019, wasn't expecting it to feature so high.

#20. Blame (featuring John Newman)

Rate score: 7.36/10
Highest rate score: 10 (Nina West, Tawdry Hepburn, Dobbo)
Lowest rate score: 3 (blacksquare)
2018 rate position: 26 of 44
2014 rate position: N/A

Year of release: 2014
Album: Motion
UK Chart position: #1
YouTube views: 711.6m (MV)
Spotify streams: 572m

Starting off the top 20 we have 'Blame', Calvin's 3rd consecutive #1 from Motion. It's not one of my big faves of his, like 'Summer' it is rather formulaic by his standards, but it does its job as a dancepop banger.

---

#19. Dance Wiv Me (with Dizzee Rascal & Chrome)

Rate score: 7.48/10
Highest rate score: 10 (WhoOdyssey, SevenSeize)
Lowest rate score: 4 (blacksquare)
2018 rate position: 15 of 44
2014 rate position: 10 of 21

Year of release: 2008
Album: Tongue 'n' Cheek / Ready For The Weekend
UK Chart position: #1
YouTube views: 17.1m (MV)
Spotify streams: 72.1m

Continuing to fall in every rate is 'Dance Wiv Me' which got Calvin his first #1. It had more of a disco vibe to what we're now used to from Calvin and for me doesn't hold up as well as many of his peak EDM bangers and a few of the nu-funk tracks, though it is still easily a highlight of Dizzee's output and one of the better hits of the time.

---

#18. This Is What You Came For (featuring Rihanna)

Rate score: 7.48/10
Highest rate score: 10/10 (Josh!, Frenchie, danG, Nina West, gog_lad84, Stu1985, Jonjo)
Lowest rate score: 0 (SevenSeize)
2018 rate position: 19 of 44
2014 rate position: N/A

Year of release: 2016
Album: N/A
UK Chart position: #2
YouTube views: 2.4b (MV)
Spotify streams: 1.05b

Now on to a track of his I really enjoy, it was his 2nd and most recent Rihanna collab single. Following 'We Found Love' with a collab just as big was not going to be an easy task but he very much did, getting it to be his first track to pass one billion Spotify streams and two billion YouTube views. It very much deserves a top 10 place here but at least it does slightly better than in the last rate. I love how the track is produced to have a more lowkey drop than many of his former singles and it was a refreshing change of style for him.

---

#17. Flashback

Rate score: 7.48/10
Highest rate score: 11 (Juan Carlos)
Lowest rate score: 4 (blacksquare)
2018 rate position: 25 of 44
2014 rate position: 8 of 21

Year of release: 2009
Album: Ready For The Weekend
UK Chart position: #18
YouTube views: 25.3m (MV)
Spotify streams: 41.4m

Just outside the top 15 are two RFTW tracks. This is an era of Calvin Harris I'm not as big a fan of and, 'I'm Not Alone' aside, I've not given a whole lot of listens to, but it seems the song has been a bit of a grower since the last rate for a few of you. I do quite like the synths here but I'd most likely prefer it with some more beefy production.

---

#16. Ready For the Weekend

Rate score: 7.50/10
Highest rate score: 10 (Josh!, Nina West)
Lowest rate score: 5 (Tawdry Hepburn, blacksquare, Jonjo)
2018 rate position: 16 of 44
2014 rate position: 14 of 21

Year of release: 2009
Album: Ready For The Weekend
UK Chart position: #3
YouTube views: 6.5m (MV)
Spotify streams: 20.4m

Another of Calvin's early tracks here and its position is unchanged from the last rate. This is again one of my least faves of his singles discography, although it's decent enough for the disco track that it is it's not really the style that best suits him.

Dance Wiv Me dance.gif

I’m shocked Ellie flopped so badly, I mean I’m not a fan but I thought INYL would be Top 15 at least! I do prefer Outside but I’m generally on my own about that

Glad that "Flashback" made the Top 20. dance.gif And, yes, it's still great to date. Also, "I Need Your Love" > "Outside". I'm fine that this turned out in this way.

I didn’t know there was a second unseen video for I Need Your Love!
I don't think 'unseen' is the correct word because it leaked five years ago. I was trying to find it out the other day, but I couldn't... until now, so you could watch it here. The video fits with Halcyon, although the same could be said with 18 Months because AG Rojas and Vincent Haycock, who were in the same team production, shot most of the videos of this era, aside "We'll Be Coming Back".

We are inching ever so closer to that Top 10, but before we get there here are the next 5 tracks to be revealed:

#15. Giant (with Rag'n'Bone Man)

Rate score: 7.57/10
Highest rate score: 10 (Frenchie, Nick F1, lewistgreen, Stu1985, WhoOdyssey)
Lowest rate score: 3 (Bjork)
2018 rate position: N/A
2014 rate position: N/A

Year of release: 2019
Album: N/A
UK Chart position: #2
YouTube views: 261.5m (MV)
Spotify streams: 433.8m

Still the last Top 10 single to date after focusing on his Love Regenerator project, Giant brought on board the then man-of-the-moment Rag'n'Bone Man to bring us a big bouncy bop. Speaking of bouncy...

---

#14. Bounce (featuring Kelis)

Rate score: 7.82/10
Highest rate score: 10 (Dexton, danG)
Lowest rate score: 4 (Dobbo)
2018 rate position: 11 of 44
2014 rate position: 6 of 21

Year of release: 2011
Album: 18 Months
UK Chart position: #2
YouTube views: 51.2m (MV)
Spotify streams: 97.7m

Leading our foray into what became the massive 18 Months era was Bounce which featured Kelis who was starting to dabble in dance tracks on her album and a few features. This feature was certainly one which worked and cements itself as a fave of mine.

---

#13. Thinking About You (featuring Ayah Marar)

Rate score: 7.82/10
Highest rate score: 11 (Riser)
Lowest rate score: 4 (blacksquare)
2018 rate position: 24 of 44
2014 rate position: 9 of 21

Year of release: 2012
Album: 18 Months
UK Chart position: #8
YouTube views: 126.7m (MV)
Spotify streams: 154.6m

Genuinely quite surprised to see this so high considering it was one of the last tracks to be released from 18 Months and is fairly nondescript when put alongside the others, but you all seem to like it and it's a big summery tune I guess.

---

#12. Under Control (with Alesso featuring Hurts)

Rate score: 7.82/10
Highest rate score: 11 (Dexton)
Lowest rate score: 1 (George.keh)
2018 rate position: 13 of 44
2014 rate position: 12 of 21

Year of release: 2013
Album: Motion / Forever
UK Chart position: #1
YouTube views: 242.5m (MV)
Spotify streams: 317.6m

BANGER ALERT and the lead single for the Motion era. Calvin teams up with Alesso and Theo Hutchcraft from Hurts to deliver an EDM stomper which went straight to the top of the charts.

---

#11. Feels (featuring Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean)

Rate score: 8.27/10
Highest rate score: 11 (...ready for it)
Lowest rate score: 5.5 (Dobbo)
2018 rate position: 8 of 44
2014 rate position: N/A

Year of release: 2017
Album: Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1
UK Chart position: #1
YouTube views: 544.1m (MV)
Spotify streams: 726.2m

And just missing out on the Top 10 is the fourth and most successful single from the Funk Wav Bounces era. Feels ropes in Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and Big Sean to deliver a funky bop which 3 years on still sounds fresh to be honest.

Promises
Pray To God
We Found Love
Acceptable In The 80s

#10. Slide (featuring Frank Ocean & Migos)

Rate score: 8.39/10
Highest rate score: 11 (blacksquare, SevenSeize)
Lowest rate score: 3 (...ready for it)
2018 rate position: 11 of 44
2014 rate position: N/A

Year of release: 2017
Album: Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1
UK Chart position: #10
YouTube views: 128.3m (AV)
Spotify streams: 679.4m

The lead single from Calvin's foray into the land of funk gaining some increased popularity from the last rate. It's certainly grown on me over time.

---

#09. How Deep Is Your Love (with Disciples)

Rate score: 8.48/10
Highest rate score: 11 (Dobbo)
Lowest rate score: 5 (WhoOdyssey)
2018 rate position: 9 of 44
2014 rate position: N/A

Year of release: 2015
Album: N/A
UK Chart position: #2
YouTube views: 1.4b (MV)
Spotify streams: 716.1m

Recently celebrating its 5th birthday, and one of his biggest tracks to date, is this collaboration with Disciples and Ina Wroldsen with a big house production that will probably stand the test of time.

two brilliant tracks starting the top ten there, both I feel will age very well (and the latter already has, it’d sound as fresh coming out this year as it did then)

#08. Feel So Close

Rate score: 8.55/10
Highest rate score: 11 (Tawdry Hepburn)
Lowest rate score: 4.5 (Dobbo)
2018 rate position: 5 of 44
2014 rate position: 2 of 21

Year of release: 2011
Album: 18 Months
UK Chart position: #2
YouTube views: 240.9m (MV)
Spotify streams: 226.5m

One of the few songs here to feature Calvin's own vocals, Feel So Close has finished in the top five in the last two rates but now slides down to #8. The song was his 2nd release from '18 Months' and performed about as well as 'Bounce' in the UK - and was his second single to get given an American push peaking at #12 (following his feature on 'We Found Love'). It's one of the tracks from the era that has aged the best and one that benefits from his own vocal, though I wouldn't put it in his top five so I think this position is about where it should be.

---

#07. Sweet Nothing (featuring Florence Welch)

Rate score: 8.59/10
Highest rate score: 10 (George.keh, Josh!, Dexton, Nina West, gavindeejay, Bjork, WhoOdyssey)
Lowest rate score: 5 (Jonjo)
2018 rate position: 6 of 44
2014 rate position: 7 of 21

Year of release: 2012
Album: 18 Months
UK Chart position: #1
YouTube views: 304.4m (MV)
Spotify streams: 296.5m

Another 18 Months track now although released a year on from FSC, it got him his 4th credited #1 hit and also followed on from Florence's 'Spectrum' which got to #1 with Calvin's help remixing it, also reaching #10 in the US. It's also one of my faves from the time and another deservingly placed in the top 10 - and seemingly Buzzjack's opinion on this hasn't changed since 2014 when it also placed at 7th.

We're getting closer and closer and these are the next two songs to be revealed.

#06. Acceptable In The 80s

Rate score: 8.64/10
Highest rate score: 11 (WhoOdyssey, Jade)
Lowest rate score: 6 (...ready for it, Riser)
2018 rate position: 7 of 44
2014 rate position: 5 of 21

Year of release: 2007
Album: I Created Disco
UK Chart position: #10
YouTube views: 14.5m
Spotify streams: 30.7m

Let's back to the beginning. "Acceptable In The 80s" was the first proper single from Calvin back in 2007, after "Vegas" was issued on a limited edition vinyl in early that year and "Let Me Know" three years before. This also becomes the first time he reached the Top 10, being the first of so many more years later.

---

#05. Promises (with Sam Smith)

Rate score: 8.70/10
Highest rate score: 11 (Frenchie)
Lowest rate score: 5 (Bjork)
2018 rate position: N/A
2014 rate position: N/A

Year of release: 2018
Album: N/A
UK Chart position: #1
YouTube views: 170.7m (MV)
Spotify streams: 692.4m

The Top 5 starts with a new entry and it's "Promises", which is his collaboration with Sam Smith and features uncredited vocals from Jessie Reyez. The track, which is a house and dance-pop song, is also their latest #1 hit in the UK for both of them.

Great top 10, although I'd swap Acceptable in the 80s with I Need Your Love

particularly How Deep is Your Love, thought it could even be top 3
