There is no stopping Ed at the moment, his run at #1 will continue with 'Shape of You', unless 'Galway Girl' takes another step up to #1, furthermore his album tracks are not going to drop by that much due to streaming. Steps have released a brand new single titled 'Scared of the Dark' from their forthcoming new studio album 'Tears on the Dancefloor' also performing tonight on the Ant & Dec Saturday Night Takeaway Show on ITV1. Other brand new releases this week from Nicki Minaj collaborating with Drake & Lil Wayne on 'No Frauds' and her solo single 'Regret In Your Tears', Louisa Johnson with her follow up single to 'So Good' with 'Best Behaviour', Stargate feat. Sia & P!nk 'Waterfall', Just Us 'Cloudbusting' and a new track from Lorde 'Liability'. And Julia Michaels hoping to chart inside the top 40 with 'Issues'.
Ed Sheeran will continue to dominate the #1 album for some time, hardly any competition this week, Laura Marling will be the highest new charting album this week titled 'Semper Femina' vying for a top 5 entry. Other new album releases from Mallory Knox 'Wired', Circa Waves 'Diifferent Creatures', Bush with Gavin Rossdale 'Black And White Rainbows' and one half of Soft Cell best remembered for that #1 smash 'Tainted Love' of the 80s Marc Almond releases another greatest hits package titled 'Hits and Pieces – The Best of Marc Almond & Soft Cell'.

I hope Steps can enter inside the top 10 but with virtually no streaming top 40 might be more realistic!
Steps are #1 in the mids according to Minty
I actually think with tonight's promo they could make the top 15.
I hope Steps do get a good chart position on Friday! Hopefully as the week progresses they'll do more promo and maybe airplay will pick up once radio notices they are doing well!
Top 40 is realistically a good aim for Steps at the moment. The latest Kworb update showed a massive drop so they're not guaranteed to be sticking around for very long. If they perform it tonight it'll work wonders, and they may well get a top 20 out of this. Which I doubt anyone would have predicted a few weeks ago to be honest.
I think there will be a huge boost for Steps after tonight's SNTA performance - especially as they have a new dance routine for 'Scared of the Dark'.
They also have a few TV interviews planned for next week which should stop it going into freefall.
How long will Ed Sheeran stay at number one in the album charts for, will he get knocked off by Depehde Mode in a couple of weeks or will Take That knock him off number one
I'd say neither. I think he'll be quite comfortable for the next couple of months.
J-Hud only performed Spotlight on Saturday Night Takeaway
Im happy to see the Steps comeback going well, for them to even get a top 40 hit would be great for them, streaming will hammer them which is the case with most acts who are around for years.
Its also looking good that the album should do ok for them. You could also see Steps greatest hits coming back into the top 100, hopefully!!
Im hoping Ed Sheeran has massive sales again this week to eliminate sales from the following week as i really want the new Take That album to get to number 1 but im not confident it will happen based on the performance of the Giants single and the decline in sales of their their Three album.
Yeah, my guess at the moment is that Take That with their months of pre-orders will be able to sneak a week ahead of Ed, though obviously he'll overtake the week after.
However, I'm prepared to revise that prediction looking at Ed's sales in the intervening weeks.
Take That's previous Studio Album "III" started with Sales of 144,538 in Dec 2014, Would suspect this comeback will generate fewer opening Album Sales given it is not the run-in to xmas and there doesn't seem to be too much excitement around their return. It will be Ed's fourth week but his substantial streaming may make the difference.
It's not the run-up to Christmas but it is two days before Mother's Day, FWIW.
Promotion will be crucial for Take That on release week to be in with a shout of number 1.
^^As much as it pains me to say I think Ed could hold off That That - admittedly they are an 'albums act' now but their last album sold 145,000 on the back of a #1 single - this era they have had a fan base led single with a chart run of 13-92 so the casual fan/general public probably doesn't even realise they are back.
I really hope they pull it out of the bag with promo as I can see this being am underperforming album by their standards and it's doubtful they will be able to produce another hit from the album so promo will be critical.
I really hope Julia Michaels is top 40 this Friday.

FYI, Ed Sheeran's album sold almost 40.4k yesterday and Steps' single sold 1.8k.
Had thought Steps would make the top 10 in the first set of midweek information.
I think Steps are looking at a top 25 entry, which is still quite a result for them in 2017.
Hope Bruno and Julia remain top 40 by Friday
Ah if Steps had performed the new track on Ant & Dec they'd probably be Top 10.
Can see Steps ending around 35-40, given they've got absolutely no extra sales coming from streaming. Can't see them getting more than 15k for the week, which would have only just got them into the top 40 last week.
It would have been nice if Steps had been given the end slot on SNT and Kaiser Chiefs done the 'Sing-Along Live' part, but I guess I Predict a Riot isn't well-known enough for people to spontaneously know the llyrics
Disappointing that The Shins are only at 13
Steps are on lock for a certain top 40 which is enough for me (as much as it was incredible to see them at #1 on iTunes for a bit).
I mean, I never thought they'd ever have an official top 100 again after Light Up The World missed the top 75 five years ago when streaming wasn't even counted.
oh it's true, I kinda though this was Steps comeback like the first album since Buzz in 2000
but just remembered they had a flop single/album/comeback a few years ago
Laura Marling is also looking good for top 5 hopefully!!!
Oh The Beauty And The Beast soundtrack is counted in the artist charts, wasn't sure it would be because not all songs are perfomed by the cast members
So happy to see Julia Michaels enter
Where's Green Light?
Top 100s hadn't been updated last time I looked.
4 non Ed Sheeran singles in the top 10.
So happy for Martin Jensen. Smash that top 10 on Friday please!
Shame that with streams being one day behind it's not likely to look this 'good' come Friday lol.
In a world without Ed Sheeran, the top 10 would be amazing
as posted above the rules were changed
but that's normal, rules change all the time
at least this time it's a change for good
ouch Ed still has 12 songs in the top 18!!
Louisa at #43
Based on sales so far would Ed Sheeran be on track to end the week with sales of 300,000 with divide?
It would be wonderful if he can sell enough to pass 1 million this week.
If he continues to sell 40,000 copies each day he'd be on roughly 318,000, which would be around a 53% drop. A very strong second week showing for album with a huge opening where its decline is not being softened by the fourth quarter period.
The chart runs for 'Human' and 'Chained To The Rhythm' are going to look so odd!

Ouch for Little Mix, that's quite a drop (down 24 from last Friday) for "No More Sad Songs", needs some Promotion from somewhere
They have updated the singles now, but not the albums.
Moderately amusing to see 'Shout Out To My Ex' next to 'Text From Your Ex'.
Damn you, Ed Sheeran for keeping Steps out of the Top10.
I doubt many Ed Sheeran fans have heard of Steps! Has Ed Sheeran heard of Steps? Their last top 40 hit was in 2001. Ya know, back before streaming had been invented!

Ed pushing two songs out of the top 10 since yesterday
Ed domination will always be under-represented in the early mids due to streaming being a day behind. I would not be surprised if Chainsmokers/Coldplay ended up being the only non-Ed song in the top 10 again.
Poor Steps, hope they can stay top 30 but I am thinking somewhere in the 31-40 region is more likely.
Great to see Julia Michaels advancing on yesterday's position of 40!
Steps dropping 7 places
With X by Ed Sheeran achieving sales of 10.6 at at this point of the week i believe it will be enough to push this album over 3 million total UK sales this week.
Bruno and Julia might still be top 40 on Friday
Just seen the OCC have updated the top 100's as they had not done so yesterday.
Some interesting positions in the top 100 albums for me.
I am so happy to see Steps: The Ultimate Collection at number 55.
Take That: Ultimate Collection still top 75 at number 73.
In what is a little disappointing Charli XCX is number 78, i had hoped this would enter in the top 75 region of the chart.
how much have Steps sold so far (approx)? is a top 40 position certain or might miss?
At least its going to make the top 40 for Steps, which is still good for them.
Assuming Steps touches 18k for the week, that should be enough for top 30 I'd say?
Still, whatever number in the top 40 it reaches that is a pretty phenomenal achievement for Steps in 2017 after essentially a 15 year break.
Fingers crossed Steps will do enough to get a top 30 hit but top 40 will def happen for them which is great. Good to see the Ultimate Collection pick up sales and their other albums have prob picked up sales too in the very low end of the chart.
Disappointing but expected drop for Steps - the video was filmed today, really hope it's released soon and gives them a boost, would be great if they managed to get a few TV performances too. Good boost for their 'Ultimate Collection' too - it was last in the Top 75 in May 2012.

Massive drop for Steps
Steps are probably looking at #41
I still think Steps will make it in tbh!
ouch at Laura Marling only selling 500 copies yesterday :/
pretty disappointing positions for Circa Waves and Mallory Knox considering they gots lots of R1 support
Fingers crossed Circa Waves and The Shins can remain top 10/20 respectively!
Last week's No.39, Little Mix, sold 14,213 according to the sales report, and last week's sales were inflated a lot by all the Ed tracks on their first week. Assuming the threshold for No.40 will be closer to 13,500 then Steps will no way miss the top 40...I'm assuming they've sold at least that already.
Btw where are the Ed songs below #10?
Any chance of Ed having less than 9 tracks top 10?
Ed still got his nine out of the Top10 then?
Abbey Road at 18? Pretty sure that wasn't even in the top 40 in Monday's mids
Today's mids have Ed with 9 of the top 10, Radio 1 are going to have to do The Ed Sheeran Show again

Please don't let 19 be the peak for Ciao Adios
Anne-Marie has been a real victim because of Ed Sheeran I don't think it will go much higher, definetly not Top 10.
Such a shame for new artists.
Position for Lorde please?
Thankfully the Steps decline has slowed down. It looks very safe they should remain top 40 on the official chart tomorrow. Wonderful.
I'm gonna say Steps will be #34 tomorrow then. Way better than I would have expected this time last week, just a shame being #1 on iTunes even for a day these days amounts to so little in the grand scheme of things.
If Ed Sheeran songs weren't all hanging around Steps may have managed top 20 as more focus would have been on other music.
Im both intrigued and saddened to see how far no more sad songs has dropped I know it's out
Yeah I know I really hope they promote it soon it deserves so much more than a 39 peak but that is a still a large drop
Louisa's Best Behaviour position please?
