BuzzJack Music Forum _ Eurovision Song Contest _ Armenia 2013

Posted by: Ryan741 27th December 2012, 01:12 PM

ESC Today have just tweeted that they have some incoming news from Armenia regarding their representative for 2013 and that we should stay tuned to the website for news!

Are we about to find out the next entry for 2013?

Posted by: David 28th December 2012, 12:34 AM

Internal selection then. They need this girl...

Posted by: eastworld 28th December 2012, 07:03 PM

Bof.

Posted by: Kanduälska 11th January 2013, 03:35 PM

Nothing SOLID but we DO have rumours floating that SIRUSHO could be returning with THIS *.*

Posted by: Ryan741 11th January 2013, 05:21 PM

I'd love Sirusho to return, Qele Qele was amazing!! wub.gif

By the way there is an Armenia 2013 topic on the last page if the mods want to merge them.

Posted by: David 11th January 2013, 07:25 PM

Merged. Omg... I think that's the first bit of moderating I've done since like 2008!

Posted by: パーベル 12th January 2013, 06:44 AM

I'm loving the song but it'd look weird on stage.

Posted by: David 12th January 2013, 11:14 AM

Love that Sirusho song! From what we know so far, I'm thinking we could be heading back east again next year. Georgia and Armenia are the two I'm anticipating most so far. God know what Azerbaijan are going to pull out as well!

Posted by: David 13th January 2013, 11:29 PM

This Sirusho song is amazing. That would surely do VERY well if sent.

Posted by: Kanduälska 13th January 2013, 11:53 PM

I've bought it on iTunes It's currently hitting the spot VERY nicely (and she is seriously stunning in that red dress)

Me too! I'm guessing if it gets sent they'll release an English version though? Shame if they do though, I love it in its current form.

It might be mixed like Qele, Qele was possibly? It needs editing to lop off a minute anyway...

Well the first 30 seconds can easily be chopped off, so the other 30 shouldn't be too hard hopefully. I fully expect Armenia or Georgia to win this year!

Posted by: Kanduälska 14th January 2013, 12:37 AM

The first thirty seconds are VITAL! That'd be like getting rid of the intro to Qele Qele!

Posted by: Tom BJSC Kay 14th January 2013, 10:55 AM

This is great, but apparently it's some kind of a cover/remake of a guy rather brilliantly named http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PreGomesh#Criticism. He's from the early 1900s so you'd think it wouldn't count, but the classical song in the German selection has been rewritten because it souded like a classical hymn...

Posted by: Kanduälska 14th January 2013, 11:16 AM

Unless it's a direct cover I wouldn't say it'd be a problem. Hell, if Listen To Your Heartbeat and We've Got The World Tonight can be entered, sounding similar to something from the early 1900s probably won't be a barrier.

Posted by: Kanduälska 14th January 2013, 11:18 AM

Actually, hearing it, they'd probably just modify the intro.

Posted by: David 15th January 2013, 12:01 AM

I still think they should chop the intro. The song wouldn't lose anything at all. Completely different to 'Qele, Qele'.

Armenia: National final on 2 March
Broadcaster reverses original decision

Despite initially announcing that they would select their Eurovision Song Contest entery internally, Armenian national broadcaster AMPTV has now changed tact and will organise a national final on 2 March. Many artists have expressed an interest in representing Armenia this year, leading to the decision. Head of Delegation Gohar Gasparyan told eurovision.tv:

"Earlier AMPTV announced an internal selection, but as we continue getting numerous letters and songs we decided to give an opportunity for as many singers/authors as possible to perform live and be selected by the viewers and professional jury ensuring healthy competition."

Having announced just yesterday that they would be organising an open national final to search for their Eurovision Song Contest 2013 entry, Armenian broadcaster AMPTV has changed its mind again!

This morning there has been an amended press release, stating that the artist will be chosen internally with a televised song selection show on 2 March instead. The decision on the singer is expected this week, with the deadline to send in songs still set at 20 February.

Singer should be announced this week! cheer.gif

Rumours are now that Gor Sujyan (the vocalist from Dorians) has been internally selected as Armenia's 2013 representative with the song selection happening on March 2nd!

Shame it isn't Sirusho if this is true, but maybe he is good!

Posted by: Ryan. 22nd January 2013, 05:36 PM

It has been confirmed that Gor Sujyan will be Armenia's representative.

QUOTE
Armenian broadcaster ARMTV has announced that Gor Sujyan, lead singer of the band ‘Dorians’, has been selected to represent the country in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. In the national final on 2 March, the public will select their song.

Dorians were one of the acts that publically declared their interest to go to last year’s contest in Baku, however after ARMTV pulled out over security concerns they were unable to take part.

He's terrible.

Posted by: David 23rd January 2013, 08:13 AM

Eugh. Why have they done this?! I suppose he might be good, but still, I wanted Sirusho!

Posted by: Ryan. 2nd March 2013, 02:15 PM

From eurovision.tv:

Tonight, Gor will perform four songs. Out of these, a combined vote of the TV public and a professional jury will decide the winning entry. The titles of the songs in the competition are as follows:

The composers of the four songs will not be disclosed until after the national final. However, it is known that foreign as well as local songwriters have entries in the running.

Posted by: Ryan. 2nd March 2013, 05:32 PM

This national final is just beginning if anyone's interested!

Posted by: Ryan. 2nd March 2013, 07:15 PM

'Lonely Planet' won, and it was the best song of the 4. All of them were ok, but nothing amazing. I'll post the song when it appears on YouTube!

EDIT: Here's the song in low quality:

Posted by: Ryan. 5th March 2013, 04:07 PM

Interestingly, 'Lonely Planet' was composed by the world-famous English guitarist and songwriter Tony Iommi who also is a founder member of heavy metal band Black Sabbath! The lyrics is written by Armenian Vardan Zadoyan.

Posted by: Jerick 18th March 2013, 03:27 PM

The Armenians have changed their entry name to 'Dorians'. Here is the official preview.

This sounds nowhere near as bad as I thought it was in studio HQ. In fact, the chord progression in the verses is rather nice.

Posted by: David 17th April 2013, 10:18 AM

Amongst my least favourites, and I genuinely think this'll be the third final in a row without Armenia.

Indeed, I honestly quite like it.

Posted by: Kanduälska 17th April 2013, 01:17 PM

This is hideous. His voice is INTOLERABLE on the chorus.

Posted by: Ghosty. 17th April 2013, 02:33 PM

It's one of the most boring songs in existence. I'll be amazed if it qualifies to the final, especially with Albania in the same semi.

Posted by: Paveux 17th April 2013, 02:47 PM

Albania's is actually SUPER CATCHY! This is dull and lifeless in comparison.

Posted by: Ghosty. 17th April 2013, 02:50 PM

Absolutely! Albania will definitely steal the rock vote in SF2. Had Armenia been in SF1, I'd have been a bit more concerned that it would reach the final.

Posted by: gooddelta 18th April 2013, 08:34 PM

Shoot me if you want but this just keeps growing on me, although granted I do wish it was sung by somebody with a more tolerable voice. It kind of reminds me of Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion in certain parts! laugh.gif I really find it rather melodic and far better than the Albanian mess!

Posted by: Jáhq 12th May 2013, 05:45 PM

I bought the CD today and on first listen through declare me another fan of this now! I agree about it being rather melodic and it's miles ahead of Albania in quality, now that is abysmal.
