It's been 10 years since 'All I See' was released as the North American lead single to X. The R&B influenced song was the record company's attempt to make Kylie breakout in the US, having had very minor commercial success outside of the club scene since 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' made it big. Kylie performed on some of America's biggest shows and a version featuring American rapper Mimms (who had a #1 there the previous year) was serviced to radio, however the promotion didn't translate to the charts, where 'All I See' only made #81 in Canada and failed to break the Billboard Hot 100 (although it was another hit in the clubs). What's everyone's thoughts on the song? Was it the right choice of song to push as lead single in America? Performances: Dancing with the Stars (01/04) Late Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (03/04) The Ellen DeGeneres Show (08/04) |

I enjoy listening to it on the album sometimes, but if I had a choice it wouldn't even be on the album.
Trying to make it a single anywhere was a misguided decision. |

Mediocre song, terrible single choice. Americans like dance-pop Kylie, they dont want a wannabe rent-a-rapper artist when they have already several of those.

All I Can was an average album track at its best, never worthy of a single in any territory.
Where did X chart in America? |

Awful song, awful single, awful idea. Everyone involved should be forced to pay for Brexit.

I quite enjoy it in isolation, definitely a bit of a Janet vibe there, but it doesn't really work within the album, particularly when you know what didn't make the cut.
I can see why they thought it might suit the American market but I don't think it's strong enough to compete with the vast amount of urban hits there were in 2008. The video is so half-arsed (and people think 'The One' didn't have a good video!) and the song falls completely flat on its face live - just watch the Dancing with the Stars performance! Kylie seems so out of place singing it. |
