The chart I had in my database (almost certainly originally from the late lamented Chartstats) for the w/e 10th July 1999 is the one also repeated at Chartscans (http://scans.chartarchive.org/UK/1999/UK%2...01999.07.10.pdf), and starts 1,1,ATB,9PM (Till I Come) 2,NE,Will Smith featuring Dru Hill,Wild Wild West 3,3,Vengaboys,Boom Boom Boom Boom!! 4,2,Whitney Houston,My Love Is Your Love 5,5,S Club 7,Bring It All Back 6,NE,Lolly,Viva La Radio 7,7,Britney Spears,Sometimes 8,9,Shania Twain,That Don't Impress Me Much 9,4,Jennifer Lopez,If You Had My Love 10,8,Madonna,Beautiful Stranger ... The one now on the OCC site (https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/singl.../19990704/7501/) is the same for Numbers 1 and 2, then has Whitney at 3 with the Vengaboys at 4, 6 & 7 are also swapped, as are 8 & 9 and the differences get bigger the lower down the chart you go. Was this an official (announced or otherwise) reissue of the chart, or is this possibly a Copyright Trap? This post has been edited by fchd: 5th October 2020, 05:52 PM

There was a lot of talk for years that Blur and Semisonic's new entries should have been in the top ten, yet even with these revised calculations they would have both missed out. This was the article about it at the time: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/393073.stm I guess the revised chart includes all missing sales, but I don't know if this rundown has been taken as gospel because Lolly is for example still listed as having a No.6 peak on Polyhex and various other sources. I think most sources use the "6" if they went with Hit Music (I don't have a scan of that week) which would have printed the incorrect chart and probably wouldn't have printed a correct one. In fact, Music Week didn't print a correction either, and used "6" as the lwk pos for Lolly, amongst others. (Music Week 1999) Industry executives are pressing for last week's sales charts to be re-run after Millward Brown suffered its biggest loss of data since taking over the charts contract five years ago. No sales from either Virgin Megastores or Our Price registered in any of the charts released last Sunday (July 4). However, Millward Brown says it cannot re-run the charts because of data confidentiality agreements with the two retailers. The missing data, which is being blamed on problems arising from the two chains moving their mainframe computers and a Millward Brown software program which automatically wipes out early-week sales when no data arrives for three or more consecutive days, has provoked an angry response. Blur manager Chris Morrison, whose band's single Coffee + TV just missed out on a Top 10 place, is among those calling for the charts to be re-run. "It was completely inaccurate information," he says. "We lost a third or maybe 40% of our sales by not having sales from those shops." Universal Music's commercial director Steve Gallant is furious CIN did not tell the industry the data was missing on the day the charts were published. He says he is now taking up the matter in writing. Marc Marot, managing director of Universal-Island, whose Semisonic were another group to be affected by the missing data, says, "All we have had is a mealy-mouthed apology from the charts' police force. No-one is policing the police force." CIN chart director Omar Maskatiya admits, "This is the most serious case of missing data we have had." Millward Brown issued a statement last Tuesday in which charts director Bob Barnes pointed to the two retailers' mainframe computers being moved the previous week from their old headquarters at Kew House in Brentford to a new location in Bristol. Barnes says data came through as normal for the early part of the week but after the computers were moved Millward Brown could not get a reconnection until late on Friday. Data from Virgin and Our Price for that Thursday, Friday and Saturday did arrive by early Sunday morning but Barnes says it was in a format that could not be interpreted in time. The software program which automatically removes data when there is a problem has now been removed for multiple retailers. Barnes says the missing data has not had a dramatic effect on the charts. "It certainly hasn't created new number ones on any chart, but further down you start getting things moving up and down," he adds. Virgin and Our Price were unavailable for comment. We only got to see the chart when OCC launched their new website in the 2010s

I can't find the thread even on a Google search but in that thread Jay posted a list of singles that gained a higher place on the revised chart. Also, I recall Sporty Theivz went 22-21 in its second week, which was not only rare but I could never understand why because it didn’t feel like it was growing in popularity. 16-21 makes much more sense. I'm happy that Hurricane #1 got another Top 75 single to their name as I adore that song I do vaguely remember at the time expecting 'Coffee & TV' to chart much higher because there was a lot of hype for Blur around then, and I thought it was an easy Top 3 hit, so it's quite telling that the revised chart didn't make any difference to its position.

Shakin Stevens Joined: 29 December 2007 Posts: 46,150 User: 5,138	I guess it was a post album single following the release of their best single imo ‘Tender’ in Feb of that year. Although post albums singles did do a lot better then as fans could and would buy the cd single for their collection.
