 (thanks to Kye for the wonderful banner!) I will be counting down my personal Oasis top 20 songs over the coming days. The countdown will include B-sides and album tracks as those are mainly the best Oasis songs in my opinion. Please do comment as some interaction would be good. Ta! |

So to start us off.....
20. All Around The World Whatcha gonna do when the walls come falling down? At over 5 minutes this song is overlong and indulgent. A suitable description of Be Here Now actually! This is still a decent song, the second best from the album I have barely listened to. I even stood in line outside HMV to buy Be Here Now on its day of release in 1997, and have a certificate prove it  Chris Moyles once segued this song perfectly with the All Saints Never Ever to make Hearsay's Pure and Simple! |

19. Some Might Say
The sink is full of fishes, She's got dirty dishes on the brain So Oasis's first UK number 1 - news imparted to me at the time by The Big Breakfast. Gabby Roslin said it was nice to have some rocky stuff at the top of the charts! Not an obvious album opener in my opinion and certainly not be best Whats The Story single (or the worst, looking at you Roll With It), Some Might Say does have some happy memories attached to it. All in all, C-, could do better. |

Not a big fan of All Around The World, it's always reminded me of a nursery rhyme in terms of the tune and it's far far far too long.
Some Might Say is a classic though. I was so surprised when it hit #1 but I was over the moon, I like it a great deal. It's the most 'Definitely Maybe' sounding song on the What's The Story album so I can see why it forms a good stepping stone between the two albums. |

18. Married With Children
Your music's shite, it keeps me up all night The closing track of Definitely Maybe has always been a favourite of mine and how I suspect a relationship wold turn out if I ever had one!  The song about pettiness was inspired by Noel's girlfriend complaining how his guitar practice was keeping her awake!

17. Cigarettes & Alcohol
Is it my imagination, Or have I finally found something worth living for? Classic early Oasis here, and the first time I properly noticed them in '94. This one of the 'rougher' tracks on Definitely Maybe and a social statement of the working class jobless 90s. |

Another couple of good choices there. I really like Married with Children too, they were quite good at getting some poignant tracks out of everyday Northern life. I like tracks like Digsy's Dinner and She's Electric much more now than I did at the time.

16. Talk Tonight
All your dreams are made, Of Strawberry lemonade One B-side of Some Might Say, this song is far better and goes to show the strength of Oasis's B-sides and the poor choices for singles and album tracks (more later). This track is inspired by a near break up of the band in LA back in the autumn of 1994 (and how a girl talked Noel out of taking his own life). Heavy stuff, great song. |

I rather like All Around The World - pauses to check how much (peaked at 5 and a long run) - though I think the video went on a bit, if I'm remembering right. Two of the others I don't know - I never bought Def Maybe and B sides tend not to get played if I bought the old fashioned singles!

15. The Importance Of Being Idle
I don't mind, as long as there's a bed beneath the stars that shine Oasis's last official number 1 and a vast improvement on its predecessor Layla. This is a wonderfully quirky song (a foreshadowing of what Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds would sound like) and is apparently named after a book title Noel found in a garage. The only 21st century Oasis song on this countdown! |

14. Half The World Away
I've been lost, I've been found but I don't feel down Both a B-side on Whatever and the theme song to The Royale Family, this beautiful song is another example of a stellar Oasis B-side. This actually charted in its own right making number 56 in 2015 following the cover by Aurora. |

13. Supersonic
I know a girl called Elsa, She's into Alka Seltzer I have always had a soft spot for Supersonic, mainly for the lyrics (my favourite is above) and Liam's exaggerated pronunciation. As a debut single, this still packs a massive punch. |

12. Morning Glory
Need a little to wake up Although an album track in the UK, Morning Glory was released as a single in Australia and New Zealand (which is why there is a full video). This is a cracking song, starting with a helicopter (more successfully than D'You Know What I Mean!) and managing to seague right into Champagne Supernova at the end. |
